DORITOS Presents: SONY vs. MICROSOFT 2014 THE HYPERBOWLLLLL

I am sad and baffled... how can some people forgive and forget (MS) so easily?, their evil schemes were truly villainous and even after the 180's that doesn't change their original intent... anyways i await for Sony to fire back.

People have different priorities and different levels of tolerance for corporate bullshit. Personally, I fully got turned off by Microsoft's bullshit near the end of last gen when they began to focus on the same franchises I wasn't interested in, timed DLC, and Kinect shovelware. They started losing me when they charged for online play when PC gamers had it for free and of course this resulted in Sony doing the same thing with their cash-starved asses forcing me to have to pay one of them if I wanted to keep playing online with my console friends. I was a huge OG Xbox fanboy when I was still young enough to have time for that horseshit but now I consider MS to have a huge negative effect on the console market in comparison to the benefits they have brought.

As a grown ass man, I just buy what I feel justified in spending my money on and don't begrudge other people their choice. Since I have a PS4 and it offers developers the best platform for their games excluding PC, which I do most of my gaming on now anyway I want it to do better so that MS's money bags don't have too much of a negative impact on the marketplace since they are not currently offering the better platform for games compared to how they were for last gen.

Evil? Man people really exaggerate that stuff.

Microsoft has been doing good imo. Haven't bought either next generation console yet, but Microsoft has been doing the best job of convincing me to get their console so far.

Evil? Are you serious? I think you need to get a perspective dude and understand what that word means.

What is this garbage?

But seriously, why do people keep thinking this generation is anything but over. There will be no magic momentum turn it's pretty much settled. Maybe NA could be fought for but it makes little difference in the overall picture.

Stripping people's rights as a consumer is downright evil in my opinion, and they were going to do just that if they weren't forced to drop them... but i digress.

Hyperbowl or what, exactly (other than parity clause, which will be gone eventually anyway) is PS4 better for developers and gamers?

Since hwne has better multiplats become such a HUGE focus point for buying a system, I don't remember people ranting and raving saying that's why they should get a 360 over a PS3.

I think Sony should release FC4, Destiny, and GTA5 bundles for $400. This is likely their plan anyway and I see no reason to deviate from this.

MS possibly winning a month or two in a single territory isn't cause for concern. If I was in charge of strategic planning for playstation I would at least wait for November sales info before I suggested anything.

Destiny bundle was $449 and still sold 300k. I doubt, unless its a black friday deal, price will be $400.

Three X1 SKUs are beating Sony(17th) on amazon and X1 has two more SKUs in the 30s. Theres a chance they can take it this month

lol

Like I said, get a perspective. Murderers and child molestors are evil, putting a console on the market the required internet evil? Jesus christ.

They didn't strip anyones rights either. People buying the console would know beforehand what they would be getting themselves in for. If they had announced and done it after the console came out they'd be stripping them away.

How can you mention PS3 and 360 and say that multiplats stood on equal footing between the two? Multiplats ran notoriously better on the 360, so to say that they meant nothing when considering choosing a system is... silly?

Eh? I know 360 multipats ran better, I'm saying that we never saw this sort of importance placed on it, I never saw all the dozens of threads about 360> PS3 on a multiplat, or people saying PS3 wa sbad because the third party games looked worse.

It all seems to have blown up this gen.

MS is hungry. OS updates coming fast, exclusive deals, bundles, and sales. They're just a company so I didn't hold much against them. There is nothing evil about MS, this is just a bunch of consumer hyperbole.

People have also forgiven Sony, guess that doesn't count though since they're not on the chopping block at the moment?

I still consider it evil, maybe to a lesser degree... but still... Eeeeeevil...

Corporations can be evil. I think switched positions of PS and Xbox this gen tells us that people care about their rights and all that crazy stuff.

Well, blocking used games, an always online console, parity clause, and more, is.... well.. in my opinion "evil". All the 180's, just because sales & preorder numbers were bad, aren't really convincing me to buy any of their Xbox consoles again.
They showed me how they see the future of home consoles. Therefore, I know who to support. Nintendo&Sony for me.

But again, that's off-topic.

Microsoft definitely have better exclusives this fall with Forza Horizon 2, Sunset OverDrive and Halo MCC. Sony had Drive Club which was a flop with all it's issues that are still on going. They have LittleBigPlanet 3 which I think will not perform that well. And Guilty Gear Xrd which is really niche and also available on PS3.

However I still think MS even with their aggressive pricing and better exclusive line up will only outsell PS4 in November by a small margin and only in US. It's not a big deal. It's 2015 is what we should think about. Here is the 2015 retail line up as it stands.

Xbox One
Quantum Break
Fable Legends
Halo 5
Rise of The Tomb Raider (Time Exclusive)
Scalebound or Crackdown or Phantom Dust (I assume one of these will make it for 2015)

PS4
Bloodborne
The Order 1886
Tearaway Unfolded
Ratchet and Clank
Until Dawn
WiLD

IF you also include Sony exclusives and not just PS4 exclusives
Ys (also on VIta)
Dragon Quest Heroes (also on PS3)
Disgaea 5 (also on PS3)
Persona 5 (also on PS3)

It seems that we saw things differently. I remember a lot of people choosing the 360 or the 360 version of a multiplatform game because it would usually run better on that system. It became a focal point in many instances.

I still consider it evil, maybe to a lesser degree... but still... Eeeeeevil...

Well, you're wrong. You're just buying into the whole circus that happened last year, I very much doubt most people that hate MS because of that, formed that opinion of their own volition.

Kinda feels like it's been drummed into some people and they're just regurgitating it.

Never to this degree, refuse to believe it. Sales and the amount of pro Sony fans/talk (after 09 when they got their shit together) goes against what you're saying as well.

People have it out for XB1 because the multiplats don't look as good.

Microsoft messed up. Of course they're hungry for more sales. They are LOSING.
Forgive but never forget. If it wasn't for places like NeoGaf, Xbox One would probably still be bundled with Kinect and cost you $500.

The fact that Microsoft is actually changing the Xbox One so fast tell us that they know the complaints are valid.

Thanks dude, same for me.

Sure, but to say they're evil (not you but you're quoting that string of comments) and to hold a grudge? What does that gain us?

AgainSony has been in this same boat, apparently it's been long enough to forgive and forget...

Didn't I read that consoles generally do ~40% of their year's business in the holidays?

Yeah, that's a win in the books already.

It depends a lot.

Xbox 360 nov+dec share:

2006 42%
2007 44%
2008 48%
2009 45%
2010 48%
2011 47%
2012 50%
2013 42%

46% average.

PS3, on the other hand, was known for its generally terrible holiday seasons (with the exception of 2007 and 2009):

2007 50%
2008 31%
2009 48%
2010 40%
2011 41%
2012 41%
2013 33%

41% average.

I think the deal is gonna put the Xbox One in the upper range of the historical shares, making nov+dec account for 50%~55% of the year

Oh, I wasn't comparing it to the current state of console affairs. I was just talking about 360/PS3, not extrapolating for present day.

Well we saw the sales numbers of Forza Horizon 2 (latest NPD thread).
So sales wise.... FH2 was a flop, too. And it even launched on two consoles.

Completely agree.
