And though I am going to play the hell out of Bloodborne, I'm more excited about No Man's Sky. Bloodborne is great, but I know what I'm getting there. NMS, on the other hand, has my imagination running wild. Just hope it makes 2015.

List wars are kind of inherently a flawed premise when debated, because the competing views always wish to highlight the advantages of 'their' system, and minimize the opposition.

There are indifferent 'objective' people who see things aligned with one or the other, a common example is if to include things on PC. You frequently get 'MS's exclusives are on PC a lot anyway', or something similar. Which if you're a PC owner looking to buy a console, is a valid thing, but if you're not interested in PC, and want to buy a console, then those things should be included.

Bloodborne will never come to XBO or PC, but NMS will absolutely come to PC, and quite possibly XBO, do you list it and detail if it's timed, do you even speculate about the likelihood of an XBO port? For example we know The Witness is a timed PS4 console exclusive, so we know it can come to XBO, but we also know Blow doesn't miss an opportunity to shit on MS as publicly as possible.

I do actually think an OT for list wars might be a potentially good idea for people undecided, but I know maintaining it, and moderating it, would just be an apocalyptic nightmare.

I think what only matters is what we're certain of, not what we can project will happen. If we're a told a game is coming out for either PS4 or XB1, it should only matter what the current state is, not what it will be in one, two, or three years, as far as "list wars" are concerned.
 
Thought this thread was heading to be locked - then title change alters entire tone of discussion and saves day. Bravo.

While it makes sense it's fascinating watching MS throw everything at US market like this.

I'm not sure which camp would react worse depending on which way NOD goes. If PS4 wins then it's gonna be judged MS might as well give people free XB1s, and if XB1 wins there's going to be a bloodbath if "it begins" vs "it doesn't matter world wide".

Going to be some epic threads coming up either way.
 
I made this thread before work and just got home. I should have known this would happen. Maybe deep inside, I secretly knew. I still hope we get a GTAV bundle with a white PS4. Might sell my current PS4 for that.

You can always categorize them. Console exclusives are still exclusive if you don't have a capable rig. And, if you're going to include Tomb Raider as an exclusive then you can absolutely include The Witness. Games like NMS or RIME are trickier, as they look far enough along to release next year, but without anything official you're just speculating. That, to me, is easily the worst part. Console warriors will want to include as many games as possible, while people that are looking forward to a certain game will be more optimistic with their assumptions. I would like to include a game like WiLD on my 2015 list because I very badly want to try that game. However, I have no reason to think it will, so off it stays. On the flip side, I'd prefer to assume that Crackdown is a 2016 release, because I'm trying to hold off on my X1 purchase until that year.

Edit: That list war OT might actually be a good idea, if only to keep some of the negative energy more centralized. It would be almost certainly be a graveyard, but that just means we'll have some entertainment between NPD threads.

I guess that will depend on how much the difference in sales will be. I mean if X1 outsells PS4 by 10-100k for Nov and Dec, is it really worth losing profit margins in one country over it? Considering the PS4 is obliterating X1 sales the rest of the world except UK. I don't see Sony really needing to panic.

I only see agressive deals by Sony if they get outsold >400K over the next few months.

I originally pushed for the GT vs FZ thread just to create a ghetto for fuckwits, but a list wars thread should potentially actually have value, so it'd be sad to see one happen, and burn.

The real question is if it's worth sacrificing sales for the other 10 months to push up sales in the holidays.
 
I think it will be closer in November and December but just on the strength of third party titles alone PS4 should still win. Dragon Age and GTAV will most likely sell better on PS4 and it would not surprise me if CODAW and ACU sold more PS4's than XB1's also. XB1 closing a million console gap in two months time is very unrealistic.

They're ahead by 1M units. Closing that gap would literally require the PS4 to sell NOTHING for the next two months. So my guess is, yeah, they're confident to a certain degree.

2 of the biggest games of November are bundled with the Xbox One, CoD and Unity. Then there is the MCC. Still no announcement of the PS4 GTAV bundle for the USA. Heck even the Wii U will do well this month with the launch of Smash. I'm not saying the PS4 won't do well in November but I can't see it selling better than the Xbox One for the month.

Be realistic, XB1 probably won't win November. PS4 doubled XB1's sales in September, ~500k to ~250k. That's crazy. All the momentum is with PS4.

Let's say XB1 somehow does win November, it'll probably be by a small amount, a Pyrrhic victory (it took incredible deals for it to happen and was just barely ahead of PS4).
 
Currently at work gentlemen. We sold numerous Xbones today by magnitudes. Sony is in legit trouble. This deal from MS is no joke. We had people trade in PS3s by the boatload and getting the SO bundle or AW bundle. Sony better come back quick or they could lose December too.

Game of the year remaster bundle
PS4+TLOU+GTAV+1 year PS plus =$450

Family bundle
PS4+LBP3+Minecraft=$399

Farcry 4 bundle=$399

Strange they haven't announce anything with farcry since they have the marketing deal.

The lack of a GTAV NA PS4 Bundle is disturbing, it makes Sony look completely amateurish.

Its also time for them to start doing bundles that include games for 400$, they can't ride the PS4 initial success forever. Even as someone who doesn't like MS I'm starting to see that value is starting to be on their side.

Destroy...Hum...I found the notion of MS destroying them in the US quite ridiculous a week or so ago, but the responses to the different bundles that MS have concocted are so positive, that I have to retract my words on the matter. November will be a MS lock, no doubt in my mind. December would keep the momentum for them, unless Sony pulls something special...
