Holy shit that WAS Keisha Castle-Hughes. Super sad they killed her character off, she would've made an awesome addition to the cast.

Omg, I love it!

Add me to the group that enjoyed this episode. I don't particularly like Beth but it was fun to see some other people besides Rick and company. Next week should be interesting too. Honestly, we would be bored to death if they didn't switch it up sometimes.

Rick and his gang were hilariously slow at figuring that out, honestly. They just happened to go 2 seasons never seeing someone die of non-zombie related causes to never learn "it isn't the bite that does it".

I'm still trying to see how it makes sense that those two would split off from Rick and crew, their 'family'?

This is a potentially really interesting direction for the character, and continues the great work they've done for her characterization since season 4. The scene with Dawn telling Beth that some people are made for this world and some aren't, was really telling. They are gonna bring that theme home when we return to this plotline. I thought it was super ironic for Dawn to tell Beth that because of all the shit that Beth has gone through. Whatever Dawn and their group have here, I don't see them having it worse than what Beth had to go through. All these attachment to structure, power, along with the delusion that they will be saved makes Dawn less suitable for the new world.

I really liked this episode and they really nailed the creepiness of the way things are run here. It feels very down-to-earth, human and closer to home when compared to Terminus. I think the uncomfortable part lies in how blur the lines are. You cannot deny that the form of structure that they have is not keeping them safe but yet you know that the system is corrupt and would probably fall really easily once someone goes berserk on the doctor or Dawn. You kind of understand where the doctor is coming from but yet still see his actions as deplorable. It's not as over the top as eating humans but a system that you can really see existing in various parts of our society, even without the need of an apocalypse.

I don't think we're supposed to really get very attached to these new characters anyway. Terminus and this are meant to let us, and the characters, see how this whole zombie epidemic has create mini societies that are built upon different philosophies. It lets us and the characters to examine the similarities and differences between what Rick and Co has done and what others have done and I think this will really help build up towards Rick's next attempt at building a safe haven.

I really like what they did with the body dumping. It was both a "oh so this is what you do to dead bodies" moment and a way to dispel any doubts of this group being cannibalistic.
 
Yeah, I'll be in the minority as well and really enjoyed this episode. Like someone else said this group was a hell of a lot more plausible than Terminus and Gareth.

I actually thought of Dawn as resembling Shane, because she espoused similar philosophies in terms of making use of what you have and that some people just aren't meant for this world. As well as turning a blind eye towards doing "nasty" things in order to get the job done.

If anything I'm pissed that next episode is not going to continue this arc and is going to the boring Abraham and Glenn dance. Glenn is the worst character on the show and hopefully he won't be around much longer.

An okay episode. Getting tired of people who think they can be saved and was waiting for the cops to die. Looks like we have to wait an additional week for the shit to hit the fan to see that.
 
The episode seemed weird to me. Like a soap opera or an old Monsters episode. It seemed super low budget. I can't really explain it. I don't mind the focus on Beth, just something not right.

That's because it was low budget, and just in general very poorly done. Everything about this place Beth was now in was poorly (or not at all) established, like this was half of a script they took a random hatchet to.
 
I liked this week's episode.

It was (highly necessary) padding because wherever Rick's group would be headed next, they'll be arriving there by the end of the season, and i'd rather have some interesting sideplots than them drawing out the journey to D.C.

It was either drag out the conflict with the Hunters over 3 episodes or this. Glad they went this way.

As others have posted: Noah met Carol and Daryl, Carol went in, Daryl went back to Rick's group with Noah to get backup ("you can come out now, ... Noah"). Really like the actor.
 
I seriously thought this whole episode was a prequel until I saw Carol at the end.

When Beth walked past a room and saw a woman shut the door, I thought that was Rick's wife.

Was confused as hell.
 
I didn't care much for the episode except for the fact that it showcased Beth. She's one my favs and I think they are doing well setting up her character growth arc. I like the she constantly defies people that say she's too weak, or that she can't survive.

Next episode looks boring. :/
 
I watched the episode a few hours late. I misheard/overheard some people talking about the show and thought they said Beth would have a disturbing death or something. Kept expecting her to die.

As mentioned by others here, the hospital people seemed more grounded and believable compared to the comically evil and over the top Terminus group. The episode was a bit slow, with a few goofy moments, but I thought it was okay if they're just trying to set the scene. Don't know what to expect next.
 
Beth is a way too boring character and a way too bad actress to carry an episode by herself.
The episode would have been pretty solid with anyone else in the lead but it was just super annoying with her on the screen.
 
Yeah wasn't feeling that episode. And for people who barely ever get to shower and wash themselves the characters like Beth sure are well kept lol. Still got long beautiful perfectly combed hair.

I just couldn't feel the despair of this hospital. Oooo they make you work! They beat you if you F up terribly! ZOMG satan. Dunno, just wasn't feeling it.

And the next episode is far too predictable already. You know they will do a flashback showing Carol and Darryl driving off and finding the line of cars in the parking lot with the white crosses and will stake the place out and then see the dude running off limping with Walkers in tow. He will be saved, he will tell them about the evil work they had to do and the beatings and Carol will volunteer to get herself brought into the place to check it all out. Darryl will get Beth out, but something happens to Carol.

Thats my guess anyway. Beth isn't a particularly good actress either. Oh well. Onto the next episode!

btw, wasn't this the first time back in Atlanta since S1?

The thing is though is at this point everyone is so spread out that even if they kill half of them we are still going to end up with shifting viewpoints and only finding out what happened to a certain group in a two or three episode rotation.

They really should just do episodes going back and forth between them. Half the episode on Rick's group, half on Glenn's. I'd prefer that to having an entire episode on Glenn's group, then an entire episode on Beth's, then an entire episode on Rick's, then back to Glenn to figure out what the cliff hanger was, then back to Beth to figure out what that cliffhanger was, and so on.

But then it looks like Beth's group will link up with Rick's so I guess I don't know.
 
Liked the episode. We can't always have an action packed episode filled with badassery. Besides, people always moan that characters like Beth are boring to watch - she just got a lot more interesting. She's taking things into her own hands, trying to break free on her own, thinking ahead etc etc. Characters need development episodes or they won't develop.
 
That was the worst episode of Walking Dead I have seen in a long time. Beth is not charismatic enough to hold audience attention for 50 minutes. Should have cut away to other characters to mix things up.

Yeah, they spent wayyyy too much time here.

It wasn't a horrible episode, but it seems like they're buying time. They really had something good going before. I hope that doesn't get fucked up.

It was more about having to pay for 'safety' by taking beatings, slave labour and rape. 'Keep the men happy and they'll keep you safe' or whatever it was she said.

It was more of an implicitly implied kind of thing. Which was something I like about the episode. The weirdness of the place stems from the power dynamics of the peoole within it and the messed up "you take you owe" system that's there to keep people in their place.

I do have to agree that Beth's actress is not a very good actress.

It was kind of a running theme throughout the entire episode. There was also the woman (amputee) who would rather die than spend another day there.

I think they did a pretty good job illustrating just how dire things were at the hospital without resorting to actually showing a graphic sexual assault (which is really difficult/impossible to handle respectfully in a show like this).
