Watch this becoming the first really stunning F4 story since many years.
Again - it's hard to argue that this is tokenism when the director made a choice to build the movie around the black actor,
Saddled with six digit student loan debt, Reed Richards graduates from college. He creates his own tech startup, which fails within a year. Unable to get a job in his field, he works a soul crushing McJob. Declares bankruptcy by the time he's 30. Turns to drugs and booze to kill the pain of his various failures.
Sue Storm followed Reed out to California. To pay for college she tried to break into show business, ended up doing porn. Dropped out of college after being "outed" as a porn star.
Growing up in poverty Benjamin Grimm turned to a life of crime by joining the Yancy Street Gang. Benjamin eventually became their leader until he was paralyzed following a gang shooting.
Johnny Storm, always a fearless kid, tried to save a family from a burning building. He burned to death in the process.
Jesus....
Just give the rights back to marvel already. please.
Doesn't matter if it bombs, as long as it gets made the licence is extended. Marvel don't even want the Fantastic 4 that badly anyway, they just want a share deal for the cosmic villains like Doom, Galactus, Annihilus & Blastaar.
One of the most devastating evil intelligent beings of the Marvel Universe....is an internet blogger.
Fuuuuuuuck this.
Each piece of news about this movie makes it sound more and more awesome.
I would say that he was locked down first because
a) already worked with Trank
b) Fox exercised the option they had on him after Chronicle
not because this is a vehicle designed for him.
...in a way.
And your reasonings and my reasonings couldn't possibly be related, though, right?
This shit doesn't happen in a vaccuum.

Isn't Michael B also the biggest name in the movie? It would make sense for him to be pushed the most.

Yeah, I hate change too.

But seriously, I have to wonder if Disney/Marvel could sue at this point for damaging the brand.
We've had nothing but the same by-the-numbers, milquetoast comic book movies for the past decade. I'm excited for anything that shakes up the status quo.
Even if this was true, then you'd still have the problem of Victor. Victor is a foil to Reed, just as Reed is a foil to him. It is a battle of the minds. Johnny is a powerhouse, not a thinker.
Putting Johnny in focus is fine, but victor is the worst possible villain for him.
maybe you are just pulling shit from vaccuum.

this will surely save us from garbage like the dark knight and gotg amiriteguys
I'd rather see a movie try something new and interesting and fail, than toe the line, fill in the MCU madlibs book they've been using since the first Iron Man, and make close to a billion dollars on the back of myopic comic book nerds and children.
This doesn't even make sense. The whole point of my argument is to use the context of all this news as support for my argument. It's the exact opposite of a vaccuum.

I wouldn't want to watch a film where the source material is twisted beyond recognition, really.
So Doom is JP from Grandma's Boy?
Your entire argument is predicated on a baseless assumption, the assumption that because Jordan was cast first, he is therefore the lead.
What we know about Doom so far in this is not a minor change from the character in the books. It is a major change.Do you think minor changes to a character's name and background (if this is actually the case, anyway, there's still a whole bunch about this movie we don't know) is really twisting something "beyond recognition?" Or are you mad about Johnny Storm being black?

But that is just off what we know now. More details that actually seem true to the character may show up as more info gets out, but I doubt it.
I didn't think they could top the Galactus the Cloud.
Agreed. Let's take a risk. Let's see what they can do with all the crazy news that's been coming out about this movie.
There have been plenty of comic book movies that have been rather major departures from their source material. Some have been great (Nolan batman, singer x-men, Hellboy) and some have not been great (Nick Cage Ghost Rider) so im not sure why you are acting like the only super hero movies in the last ten years are the marvel studios movies and this is some great breath of fresh air.
But its not a risk when its called the FF4 and has the Marvel logo on it, if they truly wanted to take a risk they would do their own sci fi movie with these ideas like they did with Chronicle.
I never said any of the things you're attributing me with saying, so why don't you reread my posts and start over.

What we know about FF4 movie Doom: He has a different name and is a programmer instead of a scientist. He posts on "Blogging" sites.
None of this precludes the character from having any of the history or back story he has in the comics.

I won't see it in theaters but depending on the reviews i may give it a shot on video. I'm always down for What If or multiverse stories and at this point thats definitely what this is.
This isn't true at all. It's entirely possible to take risks with already establish properties. Kubrick and The Shining for example.
