Assassin's Creed Unity - Review Thread

lol 5/5

wow. the only way I can think of someone liking this game that much is that they havent played any modern game of the past 3 years and never played AC4

This is from the review, let me translate.

"When I for the first time climb one of Notre-Dames magnificent towers, I don't think about resolution or fps at all."

That's all he says about the technical issuses, nothing else. And he played it on Xbox1 and PS4.

Read the review of DA: Inqusition on the same site, under it's cons it gets a - because it has bugs, no mention of this on AC:Unity?

Grade A journalism! Lol

Been playing most of the evening. NO WHERE NEAR the horror show you all seem to br preaching.

The frame rate is a disaster but the game in general is stunning, up there with some of the best visuals I have seen. Notre dame litwrally made my jaw drop, the level of detail is astounding.

Some people beat on video game stories and well so far i like Arno and his tale its easier than ever to get sucked in.

I play these games for the history, the immersion and thirdly story. I know what gameplay to expect, i know what needs changing.

To me after the first couple of hours ive had i wouldnt say its amazing as a whole, the technical issues are obvious and sometimes (stained glass windows) it absolutely crawls THAT is terrible but make NO mistake this game IS STUNNING.

This is reverse false. I had the same problem at the church. AsI entered it got reeeeally bad. No NPC anywhere and as I climbed up the wall it was stuttering like no tom. Then, after the cut scenes and I entered the world as an assassin for the first time, it was power point presentation time. All the stuff on the map opened up and I couldn't even climb a wall. It was super bad. The imput lag was so bad that I kept jumping over to the wrong place, couldn't even line up to go in a window and the NPC were all doing the robot. I am not exaggerating, All the NPCs in the world looked like clock arms ticking. Horrible.

The video of that is in my review video. Its crazy bad and registered as 3fps in my counter.

man 100% score for unity and the last time I had this game on, I had a crowd of 200 identical people with identical clothes and poses

I dont care if that gets patched to 1080p, it looks stupid. same for the copy paste building and store fronts

There is no doubt, slide shows can be stunning.

So... If I had to assume from the scores...

Black Flag > Unity?

Black Flag >>>>>>>>>>Unity

I will return both my copies for a refund this weekend. Maybe if the pc version is heavily patched ill get it on a steam sale.

It'll be interesting to see how far cry Turns out. Ubisoft is 0/2 on their big titles this year as far as I'm conserned.

The game is indeed graphically stunning when you're standing still.

But that's the point - textures and geometry count for nothing in my book if the actual performance of the game while you're playing it is utter shit.

I don't understand, you say you like immersion but wouldn't the bad frame rate kill the immersion?

So its stunning that a PS4 or xbox one can accurately model notre dame? Ubisoft didnt create that you know...

I feel bad for the people who pre-ordered this game. You are stuck with a $60+ turkey.

I dont know its not completely worthless. Best sight in the game for me so far was

Not sure if serious, they had to model it and run that highly detailed model in real time with lighting in that engine....do you think they just scan a photo or something?

Its not ALWAYS at 5-20 FPS it chugs alot yes, its unacceptable yes, is it playable? Just about. Can you still enjoy it? Of course.

So, I can understand the disappointment in the technical problems with the game. What I don't understand is why is everyone ( ok not everyone ) looking at this game like it's the anti-Christ? Yes it has issues, but I just got done with a 5 hour session and enjoyed it quite a bit.

I see a great game that's undercooked, not a terrible one that should be avoided like a plague.

Now if you want to wait for patches, price reduction, used ,ect. Then hey, more powder to you, but surely there are much worse games out there.

This was the first time ever I had to call support. I'm pretty forgiving with things but this was just unacceptable. I was worried because I heard rumors about how hard it is to get a refund but the guy was cool as shit! I explained the problem, was very cordial and he said they normally are not supposed to do it but he would in this case. Says, 3-5 business days to see the credit. That is perfect for GTA V coming out next week. I am very impressed. I know not everyone gets the same treatment but I am one satisfied customer. If I had a twitter account I would copy/paste the chat history on to the Ubisoft twitter feed lol

Good job.

Now don't make the same mistake twice. Don't pre-order GTA, wait for reviews/impressions.

I know it's a pain in the arse because of the download size but seriously, people need to be more cautious with their money these days.

Goddamit. I bought this game I should have waited.

60 bucks down the drain and I should have saved it for Dragon Age Inquisition. It's like Ubisoft knew to the "T" when DA's review was gonna land, and saved the embargo perfectly after

It's a reverse-reverse mind fuck. I hated DA 2, so I was like - fuck Inquisition. And I loved black flag, so I was all ready for Unity.

Shit.

Goddammit. Fuck. Funny thing is though I've put in about 2 hours into Unity and despite the tech issues it plays like any other AC game, hopefully I'll get enjoyment out of it. Can't see how I can get a refund for simply tech issues

Competitive release window. Its not a terrible game, its just not as good as a whole bunch of other releases in the same timeframe. Halo same day, Sunset Overdrive (way better game IMO), Far Cry 4/Dragon Age/GTA V coming out next week (DAI getting rave reviews), COD AW just released to great reviews also

Shadow of mordor is a way better combat and stealth IMO, and it looks like AC Rogue is a better AC game from reviews. Unity looks like it needed more time to polish.

There's no denying that Ubisoft brought this backlash on themselves. They've been getting worse over time, and this year they broke the camel's back with Watch Dogs Downgrade-gate and AC Parity-gate. People are sick of their shit and I get that.

I see everyone tearing AC Unity multiple new assholes today and don't doubt it's got some nasty performance issues. But what I'm hearing today doesn't line up with what I saw in streams over the last few days; occasional hiccups that don't ruin the overall experience. In less than an hour I'll be home for the night finally playing the game for myself, and then I'll know first hand just how bad it is.

I'm never preordering a ubisoft game after this, will wait a week and read reviews before buying. I was burnt with watchdogs. I hope farcry 4 will be good

I hope you realize that this doesn't make any sense.

How is copying notre dame impressive? They copied source material into the game, which is their job. They took photos to use for textures, and copied the geometry into their engine. Great for them. Doesn't sound too difficult to me given the memory and capability of PS4 and XBox One.

If the game isnt any fun to play, for example combat being so slow and boring, so what?

it is a sad day for me, i have played and finished every AC game to date but i cannot support this BS from ubisoft, game runs like crap on consoles and PC

Yeah. I'm actually surprisingly bummed out by this. French Revolution is fucking amazing, easily the best setting that AC has ever featured (and probably the best it ever will). I've basically been looking forward to this game ever since the possibility of it dawned on me at the end of AC1. Now that it's here and the product is so half-baked and shoddy I'm really pretty deflated.

This is what has me so disappointed. Built from the ground up for next generation consoles supposedly under developerment for what 4 years. Set in Paris, amazing city. Interesting time in history.

How could this not be great?

It's what I said earlier, I just don't understand how we're on the 7th game in this series and the core mechanics still have the same ridiculous lack of polish that they did in the first game. It truly just boggles the mind.

Add on top of that the microtransactions and the visual issues, and this is a game that I just can't bring myself to buy on principle.

Honestly, I'm really incredibly close to selling my PS4 after this. This first year it's just been fucking worthless as a console. Comfortably the worst first-year console I've ever owned.

This was supposed to be my big fall game purchase. Oh well.

Felt the same about ac3 that had a long development cycle new setting new protagonist etc. Creed game curse strikes again aka skip every other one.

Those cathedrals look fun to climb though.
