Sony Pictures is pretty huge and they already deal with all of these networks. So it was easier for them to make it happen then someone thats not inside the industry.
As to the blocking - you will be paying for CBS through subscriptions. Nothing will be blocked. This is done together with TV channels, not going around them.
Wonder how expensive it is. Announce it for 20 bucks a month and i will drop netflix and hulu for it. Have a feeling its going to be much more than that though. We will see.
IIRC RCN uses Fiber Optics right? so I always viewed it as the better provider but it's too bad they stick to the north side of the city by Wrigley Field so I had no choice but to use Comcast over here by Midway. We're lucky in that U-verse and RCN are decent enough competitors that Comcast can't implement caps
I regularly do 4-500gb a month
Comcast is in on this deal. NBCUniversal is their TV channels and programming.![]()
Comcast wept and lo there was much rejoicing.
If it is anything like Playstation Now, this will be a colossal failure.
I await the train wreck popcorn in hand.
rofl another nickel and dime stream scheme from sony, looks like the pstv4 is copying xbox again..

Do you realize PSNOW is not a subscription service and VUE will be? Huge difference between the 2. Plus PSNOW is using some rigged PS3 to stream the games or something while the content on VUE is like any other top box/DVR "on demand" so quality should be what its like on your set top box.
And can someone tell me how you say "VUE"? Is it Vee-You or "view"?

Comcast has a dastardly cap? Over here in Chicago we don't...

Recognizing the risks this transaction could present to the development of innovative online video distribution services, the Commission has adopted conditions designed to guarantee bona fide online distributors the ability to obtain Comcast-NBCU programming in appropriate circumstances.
They need to set the local affiliates up to send live feed to the servers, so Sony can then stream it to us.I don't really understand the purpose of the slow roll out into major cities. It doesn't sound like they have geographically specific infrastructure to install and serving up video isn't really a latency-critical service like PS Now. I understand limiting numbers because it's a test, but it seems odd to do it based on geography as per the OP, rather than simply numbers in the same way that most beta tests are conducted.

Fuck.
Comcast.

Jesus that post history... I'm sorry, when did Xbox announce this streaming service that theyre obviously being copied off of?
So this was Sony's true plan? Guess all the people laughing at MS about TV TV TV need to eat some crow.
Really suprising he isn't banned already.
It's almost like an parody account "how to troll on forums".
Vue is french for View.
So something like "voo" ?
But will it have sports?
CBS All Access is the same. Live stuff only works in the areas where they have a local affiliate to actually provide content.Ah gotcha, thanks.
Well, it has all the Fox sports networks (including RSNs), all the Comcast/NBC sports networks (including RSNs), and CBSSN. Only missing ESPN/Disney, and Turner Sports now for the major sports networks. I know there are regional RSNs and other lesser known ones they're seemingly missing (MSN, Bien, etc).

And their VOD servers are located in that region for that region.CBS All Access is the same. Live stuff only works in the areas where they have a local affiliate to actually provide content.
Sony continues talking to other major providers with the biggest holdout being Disney, parent company to ABC and ESPN.
I bet someone else in the thread has already had this idea, but...
What do you want to bet that this is how Disney/Marvel gets Spider-Man back?
Playstation TV suddenly became much more relevant.

I just find it ironic that for a company that vehemently claims their focus is on hardcore gamers, they sure are trying hard on the TV front rather than on releasing quality exclusive games.
PS fans support it now, whereas they whined and complained about MS focusing too much on TV back when X1 was first announced.
I havent had a datacap with Comcast for a good 4 years now. They keep upping my market's speed too. I'm at 105 and still paying what is did for a 20 Meg connection from 6 years agoIIRC RCN uses Fiber Optics right? so I always viewed it as the better provider but it's too bad they stick to the north side of the city by Wrigley Field so I had no choice but to use Comcast over here by Midway.
I thought Comcast not having a Data Cap was universal so I count myself lucky they don't here in Chicago than.
