Oh totally, but it still stands as a point. I mean if you call anyone you don't know a "cunt" it's more than likely on.
What I meant was that, in the context (there's that word again, I know, apologies) of this
messageboard, you've made a, perhaps, accidental distinction between calling a man a "cunt" and calling a woman a "cunt".
It could be construed as being
chivalrous. It could just as easily be construed by some as being
sexist.
However, we both know that you in no way meant it to be sexist, just as in no way did the young, very, very stupid lad mean "rape" in its base form.
Actually, just while we're on about it, I do find the term "retard" bandied about quite readily on these boards, and it's a word I find much more offensive than "rape". But, as I say, I know these people using it aren't meaning it in its base form.
That being said, I don't think a single person thinks that the lad shouldn't be held to account for it. It was stupid, it was unthinking, and it deserved a slap on the wrist and an apology. I just think people are running with the idea too literally and really blowing it out of proportion. This sort of fiasco is usually reserved for elected officials.
