Oh don't worry, I was able to handle it. I didn't need to cry to the mods about it. It was just funny to see a bunch of holier than thou moral authority officers such as yourselves resort to personal insults. I thought you guys were above all that?
The fact that I was banned is even more laughable, the message I received from the mod is that I "supported rape." First of all, never ever did I say anything that supports rape. I don't fucking support rape (I mean, seriously?). All I was defending was uncensored trashtalk during competition. Just goes to prove my point that people are way too sensitive. I don't care if this thread is old and dead now, I'm going to stick up for myself since EVERYONE ELSE SEEMS INCAPABLE OF SUCH THINGS NOWADAYS.

Since this poster has apparently opened up their opinion for further criticism, how lacking in empathy do you have to be to think that "Don't publicly joke on social media that you're going to rape your competitor" is a slippery slope to "RIP trashtalk"?

I'd argue that context matters, but in our society we seem to have lost the ability to understand context. Everything becomes an insult. Which leads credence to psychologists beliefs that the digital age is causing people to be unable to understand social ques from others.

If it's not my place to tell people they shouldn't be offended, then it must not be her place to tell him he is offensive. Who is she to construe any meaning into his words if he didn't intend them for her? Why can't we all just live inside some kind of social vacuum where no one has a place in any other people's lives? Oh, wait. Because we live in reality. Where context matters, and SJWs creep around ignoring it.
Also, to be honest, it'd probably work out pretty fine for me.
Edit: To be clear, his tweet wasn't exactly intelligent. I'm not justifying telling people you are going to rape them. Especially since he said "going to rape some girl". I am saying that he had a context, and getting banned from the tournament is pretty steep. I'm also saying people get way too offended and tend to take stuff out of context ESPECIALLY on the internet were they are more comfortable since they don't have to argue face to face.
To end, I imagine the girl wasn't overly upset about it. She did get a free pass through that match. Of course, we never make the assumption that the victim would never have any ulterior motives. Goes against common internet decency.

Common sense dictates that you don't publicly call a black person the N word, regardless of context, or tell a girl you're going to rape her, regardless of context. The punishment doled out was completely appropriate.
Obviously. Most intelligent human beings understand that certain words are off-limits in certain contexts. Calling a female gaffer here a "cunt" is obviously a no-go, but apparently being offended by that is considered weak by some.
So she doesn't get to imbue any meaning on someone saying they're going to rape her, but it's fine for you to project meaning on her actions and speculate she's probably pleased he threatened to rape her.

Second, I never said she pretended. I said that it is an option you are 100% unwilling to consider. You are proving that point right now.

I said that "YOU" don't know her personal moral character, and cannot be sure that she did not bring it up to get the match thrown. Just like I do not know her character and cannot 100% say she did not have a minor panic attack at the thought of being violently assaulted by her opponent.

Saying that, I do know some very scary women.
I do think it handily illustrates the point, though.
I tend to side with people who aren't throwing unwarranted hostilities and/or rape threats around.

I specifically said women on this board, where we don't have personal relationships with each other for the most part, which is why I also said certain words are off-limits in certain contexts. I have women friends where I've said "Haha, you're such a cunt." But if someone they don't know call them cunts, it's fucking on. In this context, the guy doesn't know the girl and said some shit that he has no problem saying to his guy friends. It's just funny that some people on this thread are defending this guy on the basis of context, but the only context that matters is their own. Not talking about you, btw.

A. He apologized. This implies that he did not really intend to rape her.
B. He's a pro gamer playing a match against another pro gamer. This adds further credence to the fact that he wasn't really going to rape her.
C. We all hopefully know he wasn't really going to rape her.
Also, it's important to note that he is from Ukraine, and potentially didn't realize that using such a term was going to turn him into an internet pariah! Not using it as any type of excuse, but he may not even be that familiar with the English language. I don't know him, so I can't make a judgement on that. This is what I mean by context.
Again, as I said before (it seems I have to reiterate quite a bit), what he said was stupid and he should have known better. But no one seems to be thinking anything more than "This guy is up in here trying to rape some people."

Why should that be an option I'm willing to consider? Does she have a history of stirring up drama to her benefit? Do you know her? No, that's not what emotionally mature people do.
I don't need to know her personal moral character. If a woman says she's offended by someone tweeting they're going to rape her, even if it's figurative, there's no reason to think she's at fault. Well, I never said it was more okay to call a man a cunt than a woman. It's understandable, though, why that's the popular opinion. That word has a lot of baggage that comes with it simply because it's used to deride women. However, that's besides the point and just an example. Pick any number of other terms that are considered generally taboo. Retard is a good example. Would you say that to a someone with Downe's Syndrome? Would you say that to some random poster here? Like you said, context is key. I have a mentally-challenged cousin. Growing up, myself and his brothers called him "retard". Now that we know better, we have a completely different opinion of the word. Of course, it doesn't bother me when a group of friends say it as long as they're in that circle and take no offense to it, which is completely different than the context here where those two are complete strangers.

There is no context I can think of that makes it okay to say this to anyone, or about anyone. It's clearly understood that "rape" in this context is gamer trash talk. That doesn't mean it's not incredibly stupid and shouldn't be said.
I'm just not sure why you are defending this, like there is ever an ideal time for saying "I'm going to rape someone". At best, it's juvenile stupidity and poor sportsmanship, and yelling "fire" in a crowded theater. It doesn't belong in organized play of any kind. They absolutely did the right thing.
Even so, now he does fully realise and likely won't do something dumb like that again.
And to people saying they wouldn't care if it was directed at a guy: grow up.
There are plenty of other colourful expressions for "I'm going to beat you" and a whole host of ways you can trash talk without insulting somebody, regardless of gender.
As a guy, if a competitor said to me "I'm gonna rape you", he is at the very least immediately in the "not cool, man" territory. Even if I let it slide, the community at large is not that forgiving these days, so you just gotta learn to pick your words.
It's not necessarily a question of being offended. It just shows plain stupidity and a lack of respect for your fellow (wo)man.
