Today's dumbest thread: I bought a Wii U yesterday, kinda regreting it

I haven't felt annoyed by the Wii U UI once. Well, the only problem arises when I forget that on the main menu, the gamepad controls the gamepad screen and not the TV screen. And the loading of Miiverse could be faster.

Is more like he did impulse buying without investigating beforehand whatever he will actually like the console.

Actually he said in another thread that he has been playing his cousin's Wii U and he has been having a blast. He already knows he likes games on it.

That makes this thread even more strange

I think the OP initially forgot about the "make new thread" requirement after buying a Wii U, panicked, and this happened.

people like this are the reason "Wii U has a great library" doesn't make any difference. OP is looking for bells and whistles, high tech features that don't directly correlate to game quality. I'm not surprised, too many Gaffers buy their systems for flash and specs then play like 2 games on them.

Yes the Wii U OS is incredibly slow and clunky compared to the PS4's responsive and slick OS.

But the games are the exact opposite. Play the damn games and forget the OS!

Edit: the Wii U definitely has more 'soul' though, to make up for all the waiting around on the Settings menu :)

No the downfalls of the system are legitimate and infuriating.

Its just that its old ground. Time to move on and reach that acceptance stage. Which i think most of GAF is at

I just got my black friday wii u bundle from best buy last week.

The load times are a bit unbearable (coming from ps4 as well) and i hate how the buttons are kind of opposite (i keep pressing B to try to confirm something instead of A and hit A when i want to go back instead of B) but i really enjoy being able to play on the gamepad without having to use the tv.

For my household personally, it creates a very happy medium where i can be playing a game but still be in the same room with my gf who may be watching something else.

After playing for a few days im not so sure why people give the wii u such a bad wrap.

He said he doesn't like the OS and also exhibit buyer regret in the hilarious form of "50/50 but what else?"

... i just that now that i have and think about what's to come for it next year that i like it's only zelda, but im in a place that my mind is 50/50, keep it, play the games to completion and than what? Have it there, just collecting dust? But it was such a good deal that is what's keeping me from returnjng it, i got the console and those 5 games for $387 and change at BB

I don't understand this thought process. You're considering returning it because you'll eventually finish each of the 5 great games you bought? Wouldn't this happen for any video game purchase you make?

Surely there is more than just Zelda on your radar.

I've never felt the need to return a system, even for consoles I don't use very much. I would keep an Xbox 360 around for Shadow Complex alone even if there's little else I would play on it.

I really don't understand the concept that consoles must demand our attention every day throughout their lifetime.

That's why I used the word "frankly", because I cannot understand it. The startup of the Wii U Menu became slightly more time-consuming, but that can be explained. The Internet Browser? I do not really know.

if one of the tabs you have open has to load a bunch of stuff (like the console screenshot thread on here) then the speed of the browser will suffer

I usually load those pages separately

He bought it because the games, read the OP.

Joke thread, right?

It's not the Wii U. It's just the U. Return it if you don't want it. Most people don't buy things just because they're on sale... they usually genuinely want them, on top of a great price for them...

Edit:Ok, maybe i need to elaborate things a bit more clear, a friend of mine got the console on BF with some of the games i got ad well, went to his house, played the games and had some fun, than better deals star to show up and i got this urge of buying the console, maybe it was nostalgia, i don't even know, i just that now that i have and think about what's to come for it next year that i like it's only zelda, but im in a place that my mind is 50/50, keep it, play the games to completion and than what? I don't know anything about your gaming history, but you know dust gathering consoles isn't a Nintendo exclusive feature. Treat this purchase like anything else you've ever bought.

Outside of Bayonetta 2, meh. You're not missing much.

I disagree big time but it comes down to personal taste.

In addition to Bayonetta 2 I enjoyed plenty of games on the system like Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, Mario 3D World, Smash Bros, Mario Kart 8, Zombi U, Rayman, Donkey Koney TF, Captain Toad, Monster Hunters, Hyrule Warriors, Deus Ex, Shovel Knight, Zelda WInd Waker etc

I am also looking forward to much of the 2015 lineup

I have never once regretted buying my Wii U. I bought one when MH3U came out, and that soaked up a lot of my time. Also picked up Pikmin 3. Got a little slow later that year, but then I got Super Mario 3d World, Mario Kart 8, and a whole Library of Wii Games to play. There is just so much variety in all the games that I had to play.

Likewise, there were many times I regretted buying my PS4 and XBone because of lack of interesting games for me to play.

Also, is the menu being slow really that annoying? I mean, its not even that slow. The load times on games like Destiny and GTA V are far more annoying IMO

I got caught up in the hype, the low price at retailers, the buy one get one for certain % off, I haven't open any of the games, but then i played the bayonetta 2 demo and holy shit, that game looks and plays great, but is very dificult to use the menu of the console, everything is so slow ( i have a ps4 ) the games i got worh the system are m, DK:TP, zelda WW:HD, mario k8, SSB, super M3DW, have any of you wii u owners had that feeling of just returning the system? Did you regret keeping it?

There's a lot more than Zelda coming. Zelda isn't even the biggest title coming next year.

Anyhow Wii U is definitely the best console so far this gen. Not even a contest yet, though I think PS4 might catch up in a year or two.

Menus are slow though, I'll give you that.

I wont go that far.

Ps4 has been fantastic for me as well and has been competing for my time. Smash wins out when friends are around and PS4 wins for solo play

Crazy. It's like people who wanted to return ps4's early on because "ps4 has no gamez"

Play the games you've got OP and hang onto the system. More great stuff is literally around the corner!

In GAF, no one can hate on Wii U.

If we're going to group Gaffers(which I see you're going to do) then you'd realize Sony has a huge following on GAF, Nintendo and the Wii U doesn't. It receives plenty of hate/criticism that's well deserved. This thread isn't it.

Get over yourself.

I get ya OP. I bought it at launch and it's my least used console out of the three. I'd say return it bro.
