I think the safe thing to assume would be that the PC version is a port of the PS3 version. The fact that they've given no details on any of the PC version options is cause for alarm.
Will the pc version have next gen graphics?
It'll look like the X1/PS4 version with higher res and image quality (if your PC can afford them). I doubt they'll remake the textures or the shaders just for the PC version.
People are pessimists around here. Why are we assuming the PC port is based off of a version that isn't even getting all of the stages announced?

I think all "next-gen" fighting games so far have been disappointing in that regard. These should be perfect showcases for full cloth and hair physics on the characters.
Congratulations! You're the first member on GAF I ever see that uses the unbelievably ironic "SJW" monicker as an insult.
Have you gone around and check what was GAF's fail of the year?
I'm sure they're running in to cost ceilings. Outside of maybe Street Fighter, none of these games sell well enough to justify extremely detailed models and generally high production costs by modern standards.
It's just like strategy games could show the limits of modern RAM with a high unit count, but they don't because those games don't sell well enough to justify it in almost any case.

Just imagine a game with sexy male characters with only dressed a slip and an enormous penis which physic applied. Just to put the thing in another perspective.
Mortal Kombat and Injustice can probably, erm, justify it, they're just artistically disgusting so it doesn't show very well.I'm sure they're running in to cost ceilings. Tekken sells pretty well. I don't think it's quite a cost issue as it's these game will take some time for a proper edition to come. With the re-relases and such.
When team ninja comes I think they'll bring it. It's more that few fighting game devs really push graphical fidelity outside of team ninja to be perverted.
It just seems like a big waste when they can work on other things. Animation in hair and cloth are considerably better and the 1080p shows more detail, but I'd rather they work on ground textures than boob textures.
Did you ever play the original DOA? It definitely did something. You mean that the age option dis absolutely nothing and people keep ignorantly spreading the equivalent of a video game urban myth?
They're creepy. They still have doll skin and dead eyes.I admit, I buy the Dead or Alive games not just because I love fighting videogames, but because it is such a turn on to see those hot/sexy babes fighting each other. I'd love to be able to caress those fine ladies, if they were real.
We have been burned by Japanese devs too many times to get our hopes up.
This would influence my purchasing decision - positively.
Although what I really want in a fighting game (or any game) is to have a muscle and bone physics engine similar to what the Euphoria Engine did in Red Dead Redemption with the muscles on the horses realistically flexing when they ran - but taken further. Having a character's muscles and skin visibly react to movement, or being able to see a character's ribs or other skeletal outline become visible when they breathe, stretch, etc. would be incredible.
I feel like that's the ultimate destination of physics engines such as this.

Considering what ND, Rockstar, and Crystal Dynamics just to name a few were able to do with their next gen ports, you really can't blame people for not being very impressed, especially when the main noticeable difference is more unrealistic jiggle physics.I absolutely LOVE all the posts in this thread about how this is all Team Ninja could possibly do with all this fancy new hardware, when this is a fucking port.
Did you ever play the original DOA? It definitely did something.
Fact check? I remember setting my age as 99 for maximum effect. The original doa had bouncy books on/off. Age setting has never affected the breasts. Lol
Damn. Damn. Damn. I'm gay but those are some nice boobies.
Imagine this with Soft Engine...DOA Last Round's Soft Engine: Even gays are impressed!
You know what's sad is this is all they could do given an entirely new hardware generation.
Meanwhile go back and compare the leap from DOA1 SS to DOA1 PS, or DOA2 DC to PS2. Same generation ports, way bigger difference.
Actually, I do hear this sometimes. The PS2 version actually looked noticeably worst than the DC version. It was more washed out looking, featured lovely jaggies and the DC version had better textures, more vibrant color and better image quality if I remember correctly.
Maybe 1080p res is going to fix jaggie problem?
Looks good, but I hope that they add some proper AA or something, I mean if Last Round is filled with jaggies like ps3/360 doa5 is. Soft engine is kinda useless.

On the other hand, the ps2 version had 60fps cutscenes, and a 'shine' layer, that allowed materials to reflect light in a very prototype fashion
It won't because they will still be there if there's no AA, they just need to add some post AA or 2-4xMSAA and that would help a lot.I don't know if they are going to include AA, but the automatic boost to 1080p should in effect solve a significant portion of the jaggie issues
