Ok, thanks for that. Extremely well written imo. Makes far more sense now looking at it.There's nothing wrong with the AR, but spawning with it puts you at a disadvantage when others have picked up the BRs and are now sitting on the power positions. BRs let you break that setup and control portions of the map thereafter. The 30 seconds you spend looking for one off of the map slows the game down since you're currently too ineffective to pop out from behind a wall to ping the guy sitting in a tower. I mean, that's what a player trying to avoid a pointless death does, otherwise they'd wind up in a disadvantageous position. Why push and get killed?
It also fits the pace of Halo better where there is a mini-duel between players trying to out-BR each other. The rush for the headshot creates a solid gameplay loop that's missing from shooters today, where it's all about quick kills and run and gun, spray and pray with autos. This is fine as a compliment to the Halo sandbox, but I find it boring when it encompasses the entire game. There's no meta, no intelligent plays and no reason for shields at that point.
Maps play a large part in it. Empire is more forgiving if you don't have a BR or DMR because most of the chokepoints and sightlines are within range for the AR and Pistol. On the other hand, Truth is gigantic, which means you're at a larger disadvantage if you don't have those weapons. Once people learn the maps and the weapon and player spawns, these issues will become more apparent.
The BR/DMR weren't perfect and neither were the old games; nevertheless, Halo demands players spawn with a strong capable utility weapon, which AR starts simply cannot deliver.
I don't want the game to become "BR and nothing else" like Halo 3 was, but spawning players with an AR/Pistol to force weapon variety is a long-standing mistake Halo can't seem to rid itself of.
Well, I've been playing some matches, and yeah, pretty much what I expected (both the good and the bad) It definetly needs a few changes and additions, but I think it has the potential to be a great Halo game. Anyway, since this is a beta, and 343 wants our feedback to make changes and stuff, I'll focus on the things I would like them to change first. So, let's get to it:

I hope I'm not the only person who doesn't like the ADS in Halo 5. It feels just like unnecessary visual clutter jumping back and forth between scoped and unscoped.
Nah, I like it the way it is. I honestly think everyone is just so used to Halo having absolutely worthless automatic weapons that they think anything that's actually viable needs a nerf. BRs and DMRs still feel like they're stronger at range. It's just that the assault rifle i actually a viable weapon for once.

-Remove Clamber.
-Remove Ground Pound.
-Remove flinch.
-Remove sprint.
-Remove the Hover ability.
-Turn off Kill Cams.
-Bring back the old low shields/shields recharging sounds
-Bring back backpack reloading.
-Don't mess with iconic designs.
-Include the option to use the classic scope/zoom
-Increase the range of the pistol.
-Bring back crouch jump.
-Make the sniper zoom 2x and 10x.
-Increase the base movement speed.
-Nerf the automatic weapons.
-Increase the FoV.
Recon is closest to the classic scheme.Crouch on right stick is rough. Where's my old Halo 2 configuration?
I'm starting to think Halo 5 straight up needs fully customizable button mapping. I've heard complaints about the control schemes from a lot of people.
We have a product for people who want to play the older halo games and it's called the master chief collectionI may add more suggestions later, but for now, that's all.

+Gameplay feels good overall
+Gameplay actually discourages overuse of sprint/charge/ground pound
+Other guns in general are now viable in MP, try not to nerf them!
+AR feels great, AR/Pistol start with BR/DMR on map is fantastic. Fixing a problem Halo has had since Halo 2.
+Weapons actually require taking into account distance and spread more than ever. I find myself switching more often than in previous games.
+Lower autoaim feels good.
+ADS actually fits fine, feels good.
+Powerweapon announcements actually work as intended and encourage map control. Yes!
+Spartan chatter in general is very helpful, except for that damn KRTCH sound every two seconds in my ears.
=I'm pretty neutral on Clamber right now. I guess it's fine.
-I really want them to lower the volume of, or eliminate entirely the KRTCH sound before and after every spartan communication. That gets annoying REAL FAST. I've seen many others say the same.
-Death song keeps playing well into the next spawn which is what makes it annoying. Fade it out earlier, like when the killcam ends.
-SMG is a crazy death machine. Nerf it!
-Can't see shit in Midship. Xbone crushed blacks+hazy lights=What am I looking at? Some revised level lighting and a gamma setting would be nice. In general H5's visibility is not so good.
-I cant see weapons on the ground at all a lot of the time. I only notice because of the on screen prompt.
-Prophet's Bane is so bright that at some point I literally ran into a wall lost and confused. Also not a big fan of the design which is more boring than the less powerful basic energy sword.
-Resolution is real bad, but supposedly will be better in final.
-Groundpound feels a little clunky still. If a groundpound fails because I'm too close to the ground, I'd rather it just give me a warning sound and let me go on my way rather than make me float midair confused about what is going on.
-Would like more different control schemes or customization controls. Started off with H4 Controls which ruined Ground Pound so I switched to default which is fine but I still feel like it could be better.
-Does shoulder charge drop my shields as well or something? Because it seems that every time I ever hit somebody with it, I'm the one who instantly dies. Something seems funny.
-That flinching stuff does not feel good.
-Dudebro Spartans totally suck.
I guess everyone could argue the pros and cons over the AR or BR start forever.
At the end of the day you can't please everyone so maybe they could look at two different gametypes for it?
Those who want AR start can do that and those who want BR can do that...
It's nice to see both viewpoints on display. I've personally hardly ever seen it, though my friends argue over it but never actually present arguments for either, it ends up devolving into "you're just bad" like you said Zoba. I guess they could just keep team slayer AR starts and maybe add a BR slayer playlist? That or when you pick the map vote on the type of start too perhaps.most people like to play the "you're just bad" card when it comes to Halo. i'm guilty of it from time to time (and i don't consider myself a good player by any means) but i think we'd all be better off if the Halo community were more helpful. I guess that's what happens when the games change so much - nobody can agree on what is "Halo".
i totally understand the point about ARs. I wouldn't have a problem with it if the Pistol was amazing, but it's not like I can run around and get perfect 4 shot kills. The moment a good team picks up a BR, I'm screwed, only now I have no way of fighting back.

I don't have a problem with the image. I can see everything fine and has perfect visibility on my display (aside from the Spartan Hub which is dark).

What I hate so far is getting matched with Team Mates that don't know how to play the game. I don't mean that in a bad way, not every one is "l33t" at the game. But at least match me with people of my skill level to be on my team.
