Really now.. "to shame", no less?
Well... When I thought "to shame" I was mostly comparing LBP3 to SM3DW, both of which I have bought and played through very recently. I played Mario first and was very disappointed, it's one of the most consistently hyped WiiU games on this board so maybe my expectations were a little high. But honestly I was kind of bored throughout and had many problems with the game, but I won't go into detail here. I figured maybe it just wasn't my kind of game (I do enjoy platformers but don't play them very often).Really now.. "to shame", no less?
It's just their art style. They aren't doing anything amazing or pushing boundaries graphically. Sonic Team Racing on PS3 is a similar game and looks almost as good graphically speaking

Nintendo has really good artists at making cute vivid bright worlds though, especially at a time when most other games are going darker and darker.
The ipad would lose.I'd like to see a head to head with the iPad. I bet it would be really close visually. Maybe even in the iPads favour if you count that absurd retina resolution.

Don't agree, Nintendo's problem is they grew to like hardware profit too much during last gen Wii and wanted to make lots of money of hardware this gen as well.
They could easily make a Ps4, sure AMD would bang up a FX CPU and say a 7870 GPU on a board off the shelf with lower clock settings and nice cooling. Problem is Nintendo would not make money on the console so they look for 'special features' or gimmicks depending on your viewpoint.
Ps4 and Xb1 are just lowish power off shelf PC's in a box, with both Sony and MS getting AMD to integrate CPU and GPU silicon to make a little bit of money at RSP.

Oh I don't know about that. Look at the usual showpieces, Real Racing, Infinity Blade, Monument Valley, etc. definitely gives the Wii U a run. And none of this 720p stuff.
You are not wrong.『Inaba Resident』;145476622 said:I must be missing something here or you just picked a bad pic.
I'm not seeing anything that rivals MK8 other than AA. Doesn't this also run at 30fps or am I wrong?

Not a chance!
Well argued!
How many characters and AI strings are we processing on screen in infinity blade?

I'll give you a hint: it rhymes with poo and is a prime number.I don't know, but I am derailing, so maybe I will make a separate comparison thread.
GRITTY BROWN AND MUTED COLOURS
Like this thread is saying, the colourful artstyle brings everything to life and at 60 FPS
Both those games have heavy framerate loss.
Its not that the PS3 and X360 had bad visuals, it was just boring static stuff. Nintendo is doing more with less.
Nah the best part is when you compare their console to even weaker hardware and they suddenly being up numbers of characters and AI strings. The best part of fucking with nintendo fans is their constant justification of hardware frugality, while trumpeting that nintendo's 'all about games man', no profit.
Infinity blade is a point and click game with corners cut in every direction for it to look as good as it does. Real Racing looks great, but is sterile and lifeless and still doesn't look as good as something like NFS on the Wii U or Mario Kart.Oh I don't know about that. Once the Metal games start becoming popular, I think it will be no contest. Look at Epic Zen Garden.
Joking aside, WiiU is a nice console, but it isn't powerful and doesn't have amazing graphics any way you cut it
Did PS3 really have such good IQ as some of these screens imply? Especially the R&C ones..
Or am I just incredibly tired?
Funny enough NFSMW is actually on iOS too. So is Sonic Racing 2, in both cases the Wii U version easily outsclasses the Apple versions.Real Racing looks great, but is sterile and lifeless and still doesn't look as good as something like NFS on the Wii U or Mario Kart.

I wasn't saying it was a good strategy. I was commenting on the guy implying Nintendo can't make powerful hardware.

I hate to tell you this, but that's a good description of all 3 consoles this generation.
The same thing could be said for 360/ps3, which are 8 year old console's that actually have games with better graphics. so why does the wiiu hardware deserve praise again?
Did the thread actually imply that the wiiu hardware deserved praise ? I didn't see people saying that. It's just that a lot of people actually appreciate the graphics pulled off by Nintendo on its hardware.
His (only) point is that PC is more powerful than consoles. You don't need photorealism to look good though, and I was only arguing that nothing I've seen on WiiU has been visually impressive, and nothing in this thread has changed that.Lol the order, driveclub and final fantasy 15 don't have amazing graphics?

Agree, neither can Sony or MS develop a low power console with good specs and low cost by themselves without paying AMD to develop an APU for them.
Question is will Nintendo ever pay upfront to have good hardware that is generation relevant. If they did the console race would be more spicy for sure.

2012 just called. It wants its WUST thread back.
The issue is that people tout Nintendo has some Wizard company that is pulling magic out their hats when their games are graphcially basic and artistically repetitive, you can say clamour gritty grey and brown about next gen consoles but making games that look like they were designed by lisa frank isn't exactly talent.
