Halo 5: Guardians Beta Thread | Hot Red on Blue Action

Ive always taken Halo pretty seriously - but my core group of Halo friends are more casual gamers, but they always did decent enough in the old Halos to at least pay a part and have fun playing. H5 is just way too hard for them - they cant do shit. Im talking constant 1-16 rounds. I was afraid of this after seeing what a competitive shift the game took after playing the early access beta. Hopefully its just the 4v4 arena thing thats the root - things typically ease up in Big Team.

Shooting the wall right in this match since it's 1 v 4, and the BR seems to have a tighter spread when Ads, the second and third bullets go slightly higher than the first bullet when not in ads. Is that intentional? I thought only autos had tighter spread.

huh, i would think that the beefed up AR would boost the games noob friendly status even if the skill gap increased. are you consistently getting matched with players at your skill rather than theirs?

You know the first night we played a brief session and got matched up with new players - last night it was against my ranks. It wasnt pretty heh. They are already saying they arent buying the game. Maybe ill stay out of the next session and let them learn against other noobs.

I know exactly how they feel.

So what is up with me instantly dying by the first bullet after I break to the second shield layer? It's utterly insane.

that second shield layer is your actual hp, it regens slower then the shield, back in halo 1 is was visual and you had to grab health packs to heal, in halo 2 and onward it will regen but was invisible to the player.

*edit* ah ok you know already, and yes AR headshots are now a thing and suck.

are you guys complaining that headshots kill people in one hit now?

I'd bloody well hope they would, no matter what the weapon.

Click Slayer > enter lobby > Match fills > sit on loading Slayer for 5 minutes > players start dropping > Back out and try again by either closing the game or using the party leave multiplayer trick.

My experience with he Beta today in a nutshell.

Dude......

Pretty sure that originally auto weapons would not headshot because that kind of spray and prey luck needs no place in halo.

Different story here however especially with the smart scope accuracy buffs.

I was told by people who work on the game there is no headshot bonus for autos. A lot of you seem to just post knee jerk rage reactions after every match, lol.

Last match of the night yesterday, close game that we sprung open, my teammate got the Show Stopper and I went on to get the Triple completely swinging the game into a landslide win, so good.

When some of you say the DMR is worthless or want it removed, it hurts my soul.

Halo never had headshots with automatic weapons, only precision ones.

Haven't played enough to know, but it'd explain how quickly I get killed by an AR mid to long range.

If true, take that garbage out. The AR is already OP, giving it a headshot bonus is INSANE if true.

EDIT: No headshot bonus I guess. Still, AR is OP as fuck.

Yeah this matchmaking is frustrating me... It's like it's setup to group one really good player with three garbage players to even the teams lol.

I've been averaging a 2.0-3.0 K/D ratio yet can't seem to win a single game.

Lag is unbearable. The game keeps connecting to distant data centers (probably one on the US), giving me huge disadvantages against those playing with very low pings.

343i needs to take a step back and think of their international customers. Data center selection is a must. TMCC and now the H5:B clearly shows that their systems is flawed.

If thid change doesn't come, I can't see myself buying H5. I really like the new game play mechanics, but I simply can't buy a game where I'll be in an unfair playing field for most of my matches.

What this man said. This is a crippling issue for me and friends in the UK. Look, if your going to remove ping bars, fine, but you have to provide information on where I am playing. Otherwise we are guessing on grenade lag, and quitting mid game. Go the Titanfall route and let me pick Data Centre closest to me. Or at least, give me matchmaking priorities, ie speed/skill/ping, you know like we had back in prehistory. Then stick a badge in the game setup showing me where its hosted. We will ruin alot of games and your product if this isnt handled correctly.

And we don't want to.

So I assume no one had any interest in this?

Thought it would be a convenient way to find people of similar skill to group up with.

Also, cross post from the community side thread, just want to re-iterate how much I love both these guns:

I love the DMR and BR in this game. The way they shoot, sound, the damage, the looks of both of them. I really like Halo 5.

Also Visceral, I see you're back at it :P

can you quote where from or actual word of mouth?

If there is no headshot bonus then i'd love to know how the AR can do such things, do I blame netcode again?

I am loving this game even though I get teamed up with the worst players ever most of the time. If anyone wants to play with a decidedly average player, send me a FR...dubz on3

Maybe yourself for putting yourself in a position to die?

I just said people who are affiliated with the game who I play with every night. Autos have always been affected the most by netcode. Mine rarely ever kills anyone, which is why I stick to the precision weapons.

Is there a reason for a bunch of people camping and crouching? I've been in several different games now where at least one person is crouched in place 99% of the game, even during firefights.

I assume they're just playing the game wrong but wanna know if I'm missing anything.

Yeah- regardless of why exactly, the fundamental problem is that it currently seems very random whether or not an Auto will kill you at range. It doesn't help that the Killcams are essentially lie machines, either.

I'm not imagining things, right? Something about aiming in Halo 5 seems off. The aim acceleration, or the sensitivity between axes. I've only played a few games, but the aiming feels more like Halo 3 than Halo 2/A.

If you hold the back button in the customization menu the in game score board shows up on your spartan. You can also see the recital of the last weapon you were holding. When the game ends your spartan is just standing around in the map until the next game starts.
