Halo 5: Guardians Beta Thread | Hot Red on Blue Action

There still is skill jumping though. The ground pound hover jump can do some amazing things. For example, you can make the jump from bottom floor of Truth to red/blue 2 with a jump and then a well timed ground pound hover + clamber.

You don't need to ground pound hover for this, it's easily done with clamber alone and holding a button really doesn't take any skill.

I feel as though inability to sprint when shields are down would be a reasonable compromise.

Even if you couldn't sprint after taking a single percent of shield damage, it would still be bad for gameplay... It will NEVER add anything to gameplay, only damage it. So why does it have to stay?

Just tried it today. TTK is ridiculously low. If 343i doesn't fix that for the full release I'm no longer a Halo fan. The first of Halo was always the one on one firefights where you out maneuver your opponent. With so low time to kill there's less tactics involved I felt. It felt too hectic and you should at least be able to turn off kill cam and Spartan chatter.

Because some people want it. As much as I'd love it removed, we have to be willing to compromise.

Hopefully for the last week of the beta they'll put in all game modes and maps. Don't like the current plan they're using.

The compromise is to up the base speed instead of waddling around everywhere.

And why should we be making compromises for the cod kids? If they want that gameplay, guess what they are going to play. Yup, that's right, cod.

This is vomit inducing...

And I've got plenty of clips of my own of this garbage.

In all cases there he would not have been able to get away if ability to sprint was removed when shields are down.

No you can't.

Yes, you can. But there is absolutely no where to crouch jump too due to bad maps designed around the "designed to remove all skill based jumping" clamber mechanic.

And? That change still wouldn't fix all the problems sprint introduces. The maps would still play like hot garbage because of it.

Well I've always conceded that raising the base speed may work but then I would worry it would feel a bit like hockey from reach where it felt like you were almost sliding across maps. Maybe if there was a good system of movement acceleration which would allow you to build up speed but otherwise as it stands I think sprint is fine with how punishing the weapons are now.

And as long as it remains in it becomes part of being a skill to master. Learning the quickest way to prophets bane on truth is something new players would have to try and learn which helps add to the skill gap. Think about how you have to run from spawn to the clamber window and then thruster pack across to reach sword first. That takes a knowledge of the game to do just like crouch jumping and I think it's fun.

Also holy crap it is almost impossible to see those blues on truth, huge disadvantage.

Clambering is terrible. Doesn't even work half the time. I want it removed as well as charge and ground pound. They're awful

Strange about the wins/losses ranking system because me and a friend have been playing for a few hours and when we win and he gets more kills and assists than me he gets a bigger performance boost than me.

jesus this person plays like a pussy, they get shot once and they are running away.

Have you played Halo 1 or 2 recently?

I wouldn't be surprised if the person who made those clips was trying to prove a point about how they can escape still with sprint. It helps that the people fighting him were awful, and that he pretty much booked it the second he was shot, lol.

This has been a total non issue in the games I've played. Sprint is nerfed so hard in this game, but it's a feature that most FPS console fans expect to be in there, to think that they will remove it is delusional.

Sometimes, you gotta take the good with the bad.

The system, as far as I'm aware, also factors in your personal performance to make the change in CSR greater/lower. Do good and win? Bigger CSR. Do good and lose, lose less points than normal.

This would make sense seeing as we lost a close game earlier and only had a -4 drop. I don't think the ranking system is a straightforward as people think.

I think what happened was more likely that they are different ranks and thus the skills of the other team affected their gain/loss differently.

This game can be headache inducing at times. Playing consecutive matches where everyone on your team goes lone wolf and then AFK are not fun at all.

No. It had flinch, random power weapon drops, plasma pistol starts in Big Team Battle (ruins vehicles), mostly bad maps and a bad CTF mode.

Not knowing what power weapons the enemy has is a massive flaw. How anyone could call it the best in every regard blows my mind. Were you into team slayer much in the other games?
Plasma pistols on big team is called balance.

I didn't mind the random power weapon drops at all. Variety is the spice of life and whatnot.

No Halo has ever had completely amazing maps across the board, but I didn't have any big issues with Halo 4's maps. There were a few that didn't run well on split screen, and that was annoying, but that has little to do with bad map design and more to do with bad optimization.

But I stuck to big team stuff only. I don't like small team modes. It's part of hte reason why I'm not enjoying the beta and not willing to write it off just yet.

They need to fix the spawn system. Thing is completely broken. I got spawned on a teammate who was about to get ground pounded and I died also.

Wrong. I'll try to make it simple as possible.

If you are an Onyx Tier 3 for example and your friend is a Gold whatever and you are facing a team with all Onyx players and win, you will get less points than your Gold friend.

It depends on what rank you are and who you are playing against.
