Really curious what kotaku can offer Klepek that GB couldn't.

Looking forward to his articles nevertheless.

Can kotaku finally bring back it's podcast? Really enjoyed that back in the day.

Kotaku slowly improving, still a long, long way to go though.

e: Ashcraft and Hernandez are still there and the linked article on the side was this so there's still a lot of shit rolling around Gawker.

That is fantastic for both parties. Kotaku has a great line up of writers now with Patrick, Jason, Stephen, Tina, et al.

Should allow for him to focus more on news and getting some scoops.

Kotaku has improved itself so much in the last few years and it just keeps on improving. Quite an impressive about face.

Polygon could learn from Kotaku.

Is this some type of joke? If it is a joke disregard my post.

Kotaku contrary to what people on this forum think has always had the honor of not being as terrible as people on this site seem to think.

After the new editor, a lot of former kotaku staffers went to Polygon.

Patrick writes some interesting articles but it's not enough to make me want to visit kotaku and wade through all the pointless crap they publish too

Well I might actually look at kotaku now, I still think they are terrible but this hopefully means it will get better and at least he didn't go to polygon

I still found kotaku terrible but they were no means the worst just not very good. Hopefully this means it gets better.

ugh

best of luck to him, but Kotaku is a joke these days (in my opinion of course)

Guess I'll start visiting Kotaku from now on?

As long as he keeps doing his Spookin' videos I'll be happy.

Stopped visiting Kotaku after their redesign(a few years back?) I just can't navigate through that. It's actually just annoying trying to find anything on that site. I really tried but at the end of the day the content didn't justify the constant annoyance I had.

I'd love to read again, maybe after the next redesign in 3-5 years...

Good luck to Patrick though.

Kotaku has become a pretty great site in the last 2 years or so, so this only improves it, the userbase and editors actually value dissenting voices so he will be a good fit for them compared to the boredom that is GB.

Uh, glad you've always liked it?

Cool!

Please, please, get a new design... It's awful. Otherwise, there have been some really great stories out of there lately!

(Loved the Dragon Age Primer!!)

Its a good fit. Kotaku has been getting a lot better recently, and the type of "post launch" coverage they want to start focusing on is right in Patrick's wheelhouse.

Huh, that somehow seems like a step down for him.

Maybe I'll finally start reading stuff from them again.

Kotaku has certainly been on an upward swing, Jason has been particularly great, this is a great get for them.

Can't but feel a bit deflated though. Wonder why Patrick left, would he not be just as connected or funded to the do the same kind of reporting at GB if he really wanted to?

A financial / career move too I suppose. Giant Bomb doesn't seem the most vertical of employers.

(Congrats exxy!)

I like Patrick but never really visit Kotaku that much. I don't think that will change in the near future. Hope everything goes well for him though.

Ditto. Although, I do see myself reading some of his articles from time to time. Nothing else really, unless he does podcast or video content.

At first I was shocked, but after thinking about it for a bit, this makes sense. I think Pat wants to write more articles about the industry in a place where they'll be seen, GB is more about funny videos. It was fine when Pat was in SF, but now that he's moved, solo content didn't make a whole lot of sense for the site.

Well, I don't read Kotaku much, but I'll probably read Pat's stuff.

Really curious what kotaku can offer Klepek that GB couldn't.

The "new" Kotaku (the one Schreier and Totilo have built) is basically the best games journalism spot there is. They've made a bunch of strides over the last year or so that shows that they're serious when it comes to games journalism. So if that's what you're interested in doing then there really isn't a better option out there.

Gonna miss his articles but I can't for the life of me navigate through all the garbage Kotaku throws at me. At least they now have 2 people I would actually call "writer" and not laugh afterwards.

Kotaku has been turning the corner in the last year or so, in my opinion. Patrick joining is just one more sign that they're doing some smart things. Congrats to you Patrick! I'll be checking out Kotaku much more often now for sure.

seems like a good fit for him. He always seems more interested in writing stuff rather than appearing on video. Working at Kotaku will give him a lot more time to write since he doesn't have to appear in like 4 videos every week.

I still won't be visiting kotaku tho
