Im playing this cool game where I google the username of everyone posting something like that here along with "gamergate" " Anita" or " Zoe Quinn". The results are funny.

I think Gamergate is sick and disgusting, barely even know who Zoe Quinn is aside from a few appearances on Giant Bomb and she seems like a cool person, and disagree with Anita's criticisms but approve of her overall message and the basic fundaments of what she's trying to achieve.

Maybe you need to be less logically bankrupt before you pretend to be some kind of moral authority here? My problem with Patrick is hardly to do with his political opinions - and more to do with the fact that he's a bad writer, an asshole, and pretends to have some sort of high ground but contradicts himself at every turn. I mean, as if to go out of his way to be an obnoxious piece of shit, on this very forum he has a terrible molestation joke underneath his avatar and none of his "fans" bat an eye? Yeah sure he has a right to be an asshole - but I'm only doing what he asks when he wants to be held at a high standard. I'm holding him to that standard, and he's failed at every opportunity to get anywhere near there - even if he does occasionally say things that I agree with.

If you really find that tag so offensive you should contact a mod about it. I suggest including the whole post where you call a fellow GAF member an "asshole" and "an obnoxious piece of shit".

Patrick's writing is mediocre, but he hasn't been working at a writing focused venue for years. His writing can be improved with time and editing. His willingness to seek out interesting stories and carry himself professionally seems to be a much rarer skill. I think that probably makes him valuable to a place like Kotaku.

Re: the high ground comment, I see where you're coming from, but I guess I have a pretty high tolerance for that sort of thing. I see myself in it. It's scary, it really wasn't that long ago I was laughing at "tranny jokes" and the like and generally acting like an asshole regarding issues I knew very little about. But, you know, every day I try to do a little better and read / experience a little more. I might be projecting, but it seems like that's what Patrick does. I respect that a lot. A person trying to better themselves can result in weird hypocrisies every now and then. It kind of has to --- for a time, new beliefs are unavoidably adjacent to the old ones.

Patrick is not a good writer I'll give you that, but everything else in this post just sounds like you've got some personal vendetta against the man. I'm interested in who Giant Bomb will replace him with. Hopefully it's someone that can produce content that is actually interesting.
