A peek inside Notch's housewarming party

I wonder what the friend-to-leech ratio was?

probably super high right now - friends that were friends before might be different now that a massive amount of money is involved

but he might change to who knows i guess we will all witness what happens in the years to come

I just think it's super cool that you can go from being a broke indie dev coding alone at a basement to this. And I guess he still is an indie dev, he just switched broke to super rich and basement to mansion. And the most impressive part is that even after buying this house he's still super rich, he could buy a whole bunch of these houses if he wanted to.

I guess it would be cooler though if he used the money to resurrect Commodore's or Sega's hardware division or something similar that is meaningful to the gaming community or at least to myself. ;P

at least Jay from Jay and Silent Bob made it.

Party looks like loads of fun. Sushi bar would have kept me going for ages!

Notch suddenly the loneliest man in the world.... this is why I have infinitely more respect for people like Zuckerberg.

What type of people are you trying to impress by putting ferrari's inside of your house?

God, what a hollow existence living the rest of your life surrounded by empty leaches who will never care for you. I always wanted to be super rich, but seeing this and what Notch has become has me afraid of even opening up a savings account. Jesus fucking Christ.

Yeah Notch's wealth is totally the reason why you don't have a savings account.

This is why celebrities hang out with celebrities. They are the only people guaranteed not to leech of each other. Id bet celebrities feel much more comfortable around other celebrities, because no one else can relate to their life experiences. And hell if everyone is a millionaire its not like someone is trying to sell them on an investment.

kind of an enlightening point actually.

all that aside, what a tacky house, and tacky party - notch i presumed you'd have taste!

It's ok. Don't be afraid. It's not like your saving account will have $billions filled in it anytime soon anyway.

Good for Notch though. Enjoy those money while it lasts. He is undoubtedly rich but not wealthy.

i think the house came as is with everything included. While it is not my taste either - it's still a pretty cool place with a great view. And maybe he just doesnt want to bother taking the huge amount of time to redecorate it?

wot.......

It's just a house party. Calm down.

GAF seems oddly anti-Notch…

The one indie dev to make such a commercially successful game that he can afford to do this kind of stuff gets all this hate? I know money isn't everything but it's inspiring for me to see that this kind of thing happens in the world. Guy followed his dreams and made money doing it.

Good on you, Notch! You seem like a genuinely cool dude to me.

P.S.

If you feel like he's flaunting his wealth… isn't it the games media and us that are sharing this content around? Of course word got out he bought this house and threw a big party, he's got millions of followers on twitter. But I always remember him seeming like a pretty modest guy.

Awesome, congrats Notch! Hell of a success story there. :) The house is pretty legit too, even with all the trappings (I'm assuming) that were leftover from when Jay-Z and Beyonce owned it. Either way, kudos to you good sir.

Also... The salt and jealousy in this thread is unfuckingbelievable. Fuck guys come on.

Already an early candidate for post of the year.

It's great to see someone have so much success from making a video game, especially one not from the major publishers and that grew in popularity not because of marketing, but because it resonated with people. The hate in this thread is just unreal. While I wouldn't have a lame Transformer statue, I would certainly live it up if I had two billion.

They didn't own it. He outbid them for it.

This is why people shouldn't be billionaires

So, I've learned in this thread, that nobody involved in the entertainment business, is moderately famous, or relatively attractive, can ever be a real friend if you're a loser nerd, as there all obviously leeches trying to use you.

I can tell from this and previous Mojang party threads that Notch is probably someone I wouldn't want to hang out with. Having a logo for a house party is eye rolling.

Oh my God I am fucking #dead here. The last one is true, tho.

Zedd and Martin Garrix are said to be really awesome and down to earth.

Wish I could party with them

edit:

awmg and Dillon Francis too!

Oddly nicely composed and quaint photos for what is supposedly a house warming.

Looks like business. I bet Notch had the real house warming party later.

Now that is true wealth. It is crazy how much he is worth and I'm happy to see him living it up. Only makes me want to try harder in life seeing his success.

Good luck to the guy, he had an idea and made it work. If you think he sold out then that's an opinion to have, but if you look at what he has now, can you blame him? Could you blame anyone for doing what he did?

People that get rich legitimately are all good if you ask me, it's those that do it in shady manners that can go fuck themselves.

House isnt really my style but the pool is really nice. Eh, just not my style at all. His house doesn't seem very cozy and livable.
If I had that kind of money I would build a house and have them add secret rooms that I didn't know about that I would uncover as I lived in it. The secret rooms would be filled with pieces of history and treasure. I also just want a small library/ Office full of expensive bourbon and cigars. I just want a peaceful place to smoke a cigar drink bourbon and read a book.
