Yeah, yeah, I'm sure they got their reasons. I just imagine a parent buying one for the kid for Christmas and it comes without an AC adapter. How's Santa fuckin up an AC adapter

That probably the reason why they didn't release it last November.

Indeed, it just takes enough people to shout about the BS to make it stop. If you just ignore it and accept it, then Nintendo is just going to keep pushing how much they can not ship with a console/handheld. You can forget AR Cards or a manual or a stand for your controller.Yeah, yeah, I'm sure they got their reasons. I think people are saying that such an assertion is complete and utter codswallop.Would people be happier if they priced it at $220 with a charger? Serious question because that's what they are saying here.
The charger doesn't cost them 20 fucking dollars to make.
Don't want to go on to some tangent on the unrelated Xbox One fiasco, but in that case the internet was seen as a necessary utility, like electricity.
The issue with the Xbox One, the part that would impact consumers, would be after the product was turned on and functional, and only impact those without internet connections (apparently <10% of the new gen audience going be connectivity stats).
This thing with the new 3DS impacts every user, and impedes basic functionality of the device.
Rather than raise cost of New Nintendo 3DS XL by charging consumers for a component they may already own, we are giving them the option to only buy if they need an AC adapter."
Yup. Bloody annoying too. The third party alts are mostly garbage too...
The expected answer, but still a shitty one.
Seriously. If Sony did this you know they would go bananas.
Congrats on making me laugh. That guy they used to pay to roll the cable up and stick it in the box apparently didn't work cheap.
Yup, they will not see my ~$200. I'll spend it on complete products and on companies who have better business practices.
It's been like this forever in the EU. Pretty common for phones too.

Sony charges people $50 a year to play peer to peer multiplayer games online and no one seems upset about it.
But you're right. If they left out the $5 microusb charging cord for the DS4, there would probably be a great wailing and gnashing of teeth and many meme pictures for days.
It will be just the screens and a place to put the cart.Hey Nintendo, here's an idea: 3DS DIY!
Use your existing 3DS components for maximum money saved!
To be fair to Sony, I remember PS3 having composite cables. So at least you have an option. Nintendo is giving you none.Sony left out the HDMI cable off the PS3 and it was always something people complained about. There's no real inconsistency here. The message is: if you absolutely need X for the hardware to function, include X in the box.
Which phones are these?

Most ebook readers (like the kobo) come naked. Some include a usb cable thoughNintendo: "But we are saving you money by forcing you to buy our 15 dollar charger at Gamestop"
I also never bought an electronic device without a charger. Get that crap out of here.
Can't see the problem here... That's a pretty reasonable explanation. The console would cost more if they included the adaptor as standard. Now you're saving money if you don't need the adaptor, or paying what it would have cost had they included the adaptor as standard if you buy the adaptor seperately.

4€ with shipping. get over it.
I think there's a difference between a 499$ investment where one has no internet connectivity, thus limiting the console usage to niente.
or
Purchase a 3DS adapter for 8$ for full usage
Anywho, Nintendo are lacking in some retrospects such as the missing adaptor, and strive in others. I've made my peace with it but understand people's opinion on the matter nonetheless.
It's a shitty thing to do.
Vita thing
Yeah, and people make knock-offs of Lightning Cable.
It doesn't change a damn thing. The typical consumer will be buying it at the shop.
Not true. I understand Nintendo is cheaping out big time here but there are USB charging cables for the 3DS which are much cheaper and more versatile than a standard AC adapter.
Again, not excusing Nintendo here at all. Just reminding GAF users that there are cheaper/better options out there for getting your charge on...
I remember that. That was pretty funny.
Yeah, I remember the PS3 and PS2 had the same power cord.Imagine selling a new Xbox or Playstation without a power cord or power brick, saying, use your old console ones, despite the fact you may not have a previous console.
So fuck everyone who doesn't have a previous 3DS or DSi? I don't know about your Euro peeps, but when they sell products here, they sell a way to charge them or make sure they function properly.

FYI, that $50 also gets you dozens and dozens of free games every year.Sony charges people $50 a year to play peer to peer multiplayer games online and no one seems upset about it.

I think he's wrong. They all appear to come with charging cables, just not the wall adapter.
Aw it's touching that Nintendo's trying to save us money! I'm sure this has nothing to do with that darn charging cable cutting into their profits at a tiny $199 per unit.
Did I mention I'm still rooting for them?
The new 3DS is sold at a reasonable price. It's not like they don't give you the choice. I don't need a 4th charger thx.
Wait, Vita doesn't come with a charger? Perhaps you meant vs. instead of , .$10 for a charger, $40 for a 16GB memory card, $60 to play games online.
Eh.
The Vita still comes with its own adapter, though.
Which phones are these?

That packet of Cigarettes doesn't come with any matches. Total BS, fuck you Marlarboro. Imagine if a kid got a packet for Xmas how could he light them without the matches..totally irresponsible.
Wait, Vita doesn't come with a charger? Perhaps you meant vs. instead of , .
Also following this line of though I'd prefer Nintendo to not include the useless SD card as well following their line of thinking.
Oh, ok.I Again this is a cheap move by Nintendo but the issue is rectified by a $1.96 Amazon purchase. Please calm down.
Yeah an $8 adapter is anti-consumer but $40 for 2GB is perfectly ok.
FYI, that $50 also gets you dozens and dozens of free games every year.
