Shitty games that your dumb ass paid full price for

Saved up $60 when I was a kid to buy Zelda: Link to the Past. They didn't have it at the very first store we checked, so instead I shrugged and bought, apparently, the first thing I saw:

I have no memory now of why I would have possibly wanted this game, but there went my $60.

FF XIII, I think :(

FF used to be a franchise that I could by day 1, media blackout, no worries, and know I would enjoy. Not anymore (only Souls and MGS games have earned that trust from me now).

Type-0 will probably get a day 1 purchase though, because it's been out, looks like a good game, I've been dying to play it, and the ps4 version should only make it better :)

The master chief collection. It should have not been released in that state, patches can only do so much for a broken mess of a collection even the menu system was/is broken.

Sonic 06. What are reviews I am 16

Also Destiny Ghost Edition

I paid for sonic 06 also, however shops were already reducing it to close to half price before it even launched so the burn was small.

I'll just say that, I paid close to full price for BF4 and MCC, and I don't regret those because they eventually became good games. At least there was some value to be had.

Skyrim on PS3. What a terrible experience that was. Oh and Record of Agarest War 2. The first two games in series were decent, but this one was terrible.

Isn't bad, but I bought it on launch day after not having finished Black 2 (which I also bought for full price)

2 years since I bought Black 2 and still didn't bother to finish either. Everytime I play I just run around in an area trying to catch everyone there.

Destiny. I should have listened to my gut and stopped at the Beta.

As a contrast, I impulse-bought Driveclub because of the recent hype and I am surprisingly enjoying the game. Go figure.

Christmas Eve 1996. My grandmother had given me Christmas money and I was hell bent on buying a game for our hot new n64, so I talked my uncle in taking me to toys r us. It was getting late and the stores were close to closing. I had my heart set on Star Wars but it was sold out everywhere, so instead of waiting a day to go out shopping and looking again, I chose...Cruisin' USA. As a kid I tried to reason in my head that it wasn't so bad but man that was a terrible game. The biggest burn is that I chose it over Wave Race 64, which was in stock. I got that a few months later and it ended up being one of my favorite games of that entire generation.

2 years later and still didn't bother to finish either. Everytime I play I just run around in an area trying to catch everyone there.

I've had Omega Ruby on my shelf collecting dust. Barely started it. It's not that I think it's bad, I just haven't been in that Pokemon jam lately and now I have even less time. I understand your plight, especially when you're trying to catch all the Pokes.

Saw someone playing it on my friends list, asked them if it was worth buying, they said yes, so I bought it knowing nearly nothing about it.

Oh, there's only this one tiny patch of land? Ah, no worries, i'm sure the game will open up and let me explore soon, this is probably just the tutorial section.

'Several hours later.'

YES! The gameplay area has upgraded to... an ever so slightly less small patch of land...

Well... okay I guess, it has been several hours though and I did pay full price for this, surely it can't all be about setting up homes for your Pinata's and building fences right?

'More time passes'

The 'garden' has upgraded fully and it's not only small but I realize that this is the WHOLE game, just tending to this miniscule little patch of land and making sure your Pinata's don't hurt each other or die....

Well I would be outraged except these things are just so darn cute! I even bred a super rare light blue bat Pinata, oh how I love him I think next I might... oh, what's this? A masked voodoo enemy come to destroy my hours and hours of careful gardening and Pinata rearing?

HA! Not a chance, let me just whack you with my only offensive weapon, the shovel and... it... it's not doing anything.

'whack' 'whack' WHACK'

NO! He's not dying! He's breaking up the pinata homes, he's killing them, they're killing each other, no, nooooo, NOOOOOO!

He eventually leaves, with my garden in utter ruin, even my beautiful shiny bat is dead...

Ah it's okay though, i'll just go back to a previous save and it'll all be alright... but wait... it autosaves... oh shit! 'Turns Xbox 360 off and on'

'prays the garden returns to the way it was before'

'it doesn't'

'cries'

Yeah, cry me a river.

Do you know how many lawns I had to mow in 1982 to save enough to buy this steaming hunk of shit?

I was 9 years old, pushing dangerous ass lawn mowers from the 70s for a couple bucks a pop to buy this insulting slap in the face.

Dammit. Still pisses me off so much. Grrrr.

BRINK was the GOAT compared to this. You kids today, you have no idea what it was like back then. Brink, MUA2, Watch_Dogs? That's David, the Mona Lisa and fucking Sunflowers compared to ET.

And, more recently, Driveclub.

I downloaded Hitman:Absolution on PS3 because I wanted to play something new.

I got several levels in and realized I didn't like it much but couldn't return it or sell it... dumb.

Dead Island Riptide
PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale
LittleBigPlanet Karting
Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City
STREET FIGHTER X TEKKEN
X-Men: Destiny
Injustice

Sonic Unleashed. It was my only videogame gift during Christmas too. After I initially stopped playing it, I didn't touch the game until years later so I can understand why it was shit.

Bioshock Infinite, FF13 and FF12 Revenant Wings for DS. For the rest I really don't ever buy duds, even when I impulse buy unknown (to me at least) games or get risky with genres I rarely or never touch. And I've been active since the NES age, so I'm pretty proud of myself :P

This may or may not incite some defense posts, but:

I actually preordered it and paid for expedited shipping.

In my defense, I was expecting it to live up to Mass Effect. I was very, very wrong.

You're right, it didn't live up to ME 1....... it blew it out of the water :P

Fire Emblem Awakening. It is in no way "shitty", but given the praise this game gets and given how good Path of Radiance is, I thought it would be far better.

At least it is a portable game, so I only wasted $40. I will think thrice before buying Fire Emblem If.

I've had Omega Ruby on my shelf collecting dust. Barely started it. It's not that I think it's bad, I just haven't been in that Pokemon jam lately and now I have even less time. I understand your plight, especially when you're trying to catch all the Pokes.

Yeah. Black 2, if I recall correctly, at least had the decency of showing to me straight when I collected all in an area. But I also wasted WAY more time because it also had the pokemon that it'd only show up on the rustling grass, which would only rustle after walking about 200 steps and every goddamn time it would turn out to be another goddamn Audino.

Really, the rustling grass and other spots like that on Black 2 were so bad, and I really wanted to get every poke so I rarely progressed. A few sessions in it would feel like I was just wasting time and then stopping playing.

Full price?

Cutthroats: Terror of the high seas (1999) Eidos I was looking for a Sid Meier's pirates substitute. Disaster.
Empire: Total War (2009) Creative Assembly Preorder. Who knew? Medieval: Total War and Rome: Total War were the games i played the most then (along with the occasional Civ run)
After this game i never bought a game from them (although i got Shogun 2 as a vga card gift but it seemes too boring to my tastes).

Masou Kishin III: Pride of justice.

Full price + shipping fee.

And it bombed to 1/10 of the original price just 1 month later.

Destiny. I played The alpha. I played the beta. Bought the digital game on launch, think i got to level 5 or 6
