I can't believe the GOP is still running on repealing Obamacare.
-It hasn't been a disaster like they said it would
-Medical prices have slowed in growth.
-Fewer people are uninsured.

What is the point of repealing it? You said it would destroy the economy but the economy is doing fine. You were wrong.

Hey, Tea party guy spoke Spanish! Well done, sir.

This is exactly what makes Earnst's speech seem so much worse. It's so out of date. All of the doom and gloom republicans have been preaching is becoming a thing of the past, and they're still pushing it.

Republicans have congress now. They can't just keep complaining about Obama. They need to come up with some new ideas if they want to live up to their promise that they're going to use this new power to actually govern.

My hero.

Hot tip for single guys, especially living in cities: I wear my Notorious RBG shirt around town and get all kinds of positive attention for it.

We live in a time where a liberal Supreme Court justice is a celebrity - and I love it.

To be honest, I'd say the same regardless of political affiliation. She's just a tiny little lady and I want her to be my grandma.

I'm curious - did you watch it on TV or on YT? The internet feed had her looking off screen (presumably at another camera), which was off-putting.

TV.

What exactly did she respond to? She didn't respond to any points in the SOTU.

When has that ever happened in a satisfying way? These GOP responses have all been rushed, overshadowed, and full of often ridiculous talking points. I thought it was smart to unshackle from that, and remove all pretense of responding to a specific speech. Instead, she delivered a broad, essentially understandable message, did so without the usual abrasiveness or hyperbole, and more effectively than we've seen in the recent past.

Not within the bubble though. For the base, everything she said is true and everything Obama said is a lie.

I guess I'm too focused on how he could possibly get any of this stuff done in the current political climate to be excited about anything that comes out of his mouth. 6 years later and I'm all out of hope.

Wait, did nobody catch the response Ted Cruz tweeted a few minutes ago?

Hold up, let me see if I can upload it somewhere.

Dude is a GOP puppet. Always was, bred like one by Ileana (a miraculous tenure I might add).
--------------------------------------------------

Solid SOTU speech.

Yo that dude is brainwashed as fuck.

He didnt stand up and applaud for the US getting together with Cuba. A fucking Cuba American. If I were Cuban American, I'd be crying like a bitch and letting Bama suck me off till I was dried up.

GAF, real talk....why do Republican people pretend to know what its to "be poor" or try to sell these bullshit lies like they are like the rest of us? Most of these people grew up spoiled with everything paid by their parents. Also they try to sell us what it was back then which is totally not like it is now and paint it as "well I had it all good, why you new gen complaining?"

The speech took place in a vacuum. She could've given the exact same speech, word for word, two weeks ago or two years ago to the same effect. The fact that the only time she acknowledged the SOTU was to say that she wasn't going to respond to it was strange and made her entire speech pointless.

Been watching Fox News for the past ~10 minutes, and wow, first time I have ever seen someone in one of those Frank Luntz focus groups call out the usual far-right consensus so effectively. That took courage.

damn missed that. hope it goes up on youtube

CNN's ultra valuable real time polling, Democrats were more likely to agree with what the Presidents said, Republicans much less likely, and independents were in the middle....seriously

So we get a
-GOP response (Joni)
-A Tea Party response (already forgot who that was)
-A Rand Paul Response
-A Ted Cruz response.

I guess the internet means there can be a Speculawyer response too. But this kinda destroys any image of party unity.

What did you think of the speech though Speculawyer? Genuinely curious.

What I would give for a Joni 2016 run at the presidency :3

I just cannot wait for the spin.

Republicans helped make the economy better when all they have done was obstruct at every opportunity.

Lolol. He has the Midas touch in reverse, it's the Marxist touch, anything he touches becomes Communism. Gold.

That was their master plan. Obstruct Bama to help lead 'Merica to greatness. It was their inaction that lead to success! Part of the master plan, baby. Thats how Reps do.

This is where we disagree, though. The larger context is that people are tired of partisanship, years of GOP obstructionism and purism have left their brand tarnished on a national level, and this is one of the few opportunities they have to speak to a national audience. It makes sense to back off from the confrontation, and just focus on putting forward a more measured, personable image. I can imagine a substantive response that would have actually been interesting and informative and maybe even moved forward the debate somehow, but in the world we live in, the version of the response that focused on debating Obama's tax policies or whatever would have been truly pointless.

So, who gave all the responses? I'm trying to get them all so I can see how far android technology has advanced since last year. So far I've got Joni Ernst and Rand Paul. Who else am I missing?

Yes. The Republicans helped via stopping and restricting communist policies thus allowing hard working Americans more freedoms to get the economy working again.

The country would probably have less than 4% unemployment and more prosperity if only A-Rock the Islamic Shock Care had not been passed - illegally and outside the democratic process.

There is still hope. The KEY for 2015 is...what was that hard earthen substance that can form large rocks, the sort of stuff that works as a foundation for this great country....STONE!

Ted Cruz (haven't seen his response yet), Spanish version of Joni's speech (think it's almost word for word) and the Tea Party Express guy.
