Wait, Elder Tale let you change character class, or she deleted the swashbuckler character to be able to create a monk with the same name?
That I'm not sure, I just thought she made a new character on another server after she moved and switched jobs

I'm pretty sure he's cross dressing, which is how people could tell. Look at his body and face shape compared to some of the other characters.

Every character's initial reaction to Tetra was that it was a girl based on the player character's appearance though, see Naotsugu, Regan and Toya. In the novels, the only character shown to know Tetra's real gender was Shiroe, who seemed to know who he was and who had sent him.

Now, we've got that anime-only scene from some time later, where Toya and Rudy also know Tetra's real gender, and talk about it being obvious. I guess that scene could favor the cross dressing character (rather than male player female character) scenario, especially due to Rudy, but it also might just be some sloppy writing of the anime staff, who didn't keep in mind that he was a lander while writing that scene.

I guess girls voicing cross dressing guys isn't really rare in anime, but in this case it'd be kind of odd considering how they kept the scene that was just made to retcon Akatsuki's situation in episode 1 (male body, but kept her voice, but then this season they reveal that the voice changes to match the body after a while) while cutting other setting stuff around those episodes.

nah it's a female avatar. It's a guy, his voice wouldn't be that high pitched and stayed that away unless he had chosen a female avatar. People can tell because you can easily tell imho in games by mannerisms and speech patterns.
Tetra was already acting like he was before he got stuck .. i might be wrong but i don't think he dislike his current situation.

When she moved servers , she changed class. ( before the apocalypse )

Did Akatsuki speak before she downed the potion? Oh, no, it was a plot point that her voice was still more feminine then, that's why she didn't speak.

I thought they said the voices changed to match the body type over time? So it makes sense she'd retain her original voice immediately post-cataclysm, but if she had stayed in the body her voice would've gotten more masculine

Tohya squad episodes be too good. I loved their excitement and silliness at all moments. Best moment was Tohya and Rudy's bedscene. When Tohya was laughing, lolol.

Best set of episodes so far. I kind of wish they did take advantage of the beach though, missed opportunity :(

Log Horizon Season 2, Episode 16:

Right, not really all that much to this episode, The Junior League is having fun on their adventure bonding and learning about life and as always there are the more ominous portents of the politics of Akihabara going on in the background. Not the most exciting episode and I can tell some people are going to hate it but the Junior League really has been out of focus til now and needs the screen time.

Slow episode, but I didn't think it was bad. Female Shiroe (roe 2 lol what a name...) showed up way late, thought it would happen sooner based on episode name haha. Anyways looking forward to hearing more about her.

I wonder where that scene with the Honesty guild is going. It seemed to come out of nowhere.

Also, kind of ironic that the two adventurers talking about thinning out their guild, or even Akihabara in general, were part of a group easily defeated by that lander in the Akibaraid arc.

Non Noobs from the other major town will join and use the 2 lieutenants in the guild to take over leadership.

Can a name with the number 2 in it imply that character was someone's (Shiroe's?) alt character?
If NPCs and a farming bot got sentience in this world, it could make some sense for different characters handled by the same player to transition too, although how that works seems unclear.
Which character would the the "player prime"? The oldest? The one with the most hours played.
Maybe the alt account gets to be undead, explaining the apparent vampirism?...

This could go places, even if this last couple of episodes came off as uneventful.

Holy crap this never occured to me, my thought was it was just some fan of Shiroe's creating an imitation Shiroe.

Between this, powerleveling and botting this has been such an interesting season :)

Huh? What did I say? Did I screw up again? :(

LOL! For a second there, I thought you started numbering your posts again :)

I haven't seen this episode yet but I'm happy they seem to be getting better and better. The last couple have been inching closer to what I remember the pacing to be from the beginning of the first season which was amazing.

Nice episode.
ROe2 showed up way too late ..but that will be compensated next week i think.

Lol @ honnesty . Being afraid to act because you would lose power ? that's exactly why this is a bad move.

In fact i laughed multiples times during this episode , tohya /rundel haus scene, the powerlevel training , henrietta rampage

"Why do they never run out of subject to talk about ?"

"because they're girls !"

^^^And with that i can't disagree with you

Hah, so that
throwaway account you made in the beginning for experimenting purposes (and forgot the password to) becomes sentient as well
? No so shocking, given that
a goldfarming bot became a real person
.

The
vampirism
can be explained as
the account being deactivated ('dead') but not erased ('eradicated')
. When the Apocalypse happened,
the account was given un-life
.

It's gonna be pretty difficult to explain to Rudy, though, since he doesn't understand what an
account
is.

In regards to Roe2's class:
Vamp is a subclass you can select to take but it has a lot of drawbacks so most didn't take it iirc (no day walking is pretty harsh in an MMO)

I can picture shiroe taking this exactly because of the drawbacks
, it's lv 90 for god sake !! Just imagine the positives to balance this extreme negative status.

FWIW IIRC Roe2
is (was) on the test server (Moon?) also
Plot thickens.

Awesome spoilers!
I just thought that this character would be a fan or a sister to him ... but then I thought about the fact that it would be strange to make that name unless you're the owner of both. Given that it's "2" and a Vampire I'm gonna guess that he made this Alt to be a low profile character he could play when he doesn't want to be bothered with the people who knew about him.

Wonder how many people have alts running around. Like, how many alts can you have on one server? Is it possible that this alt can from another server but jumped servers to find him? Did the Alt level it self to 90 after the event or did he play it to 90 but in a way that would keep it low profile? (I'm sure if the alt knew anyone he knew it would have been known about by now).

Does Rio 2
even KNOW she's an alt? Does she have his memories to? Does she also have his "soul" in her? Like, is it a case where as far as he knows he woke up in this world in the body of this girl Toon he made? If that's the case then could the fact that he's in this alt be part of why it seems more out going?
If the alt knows it's an alt from this player (like the bot knows it's a bot from Chinese gold farmers) then how does that effect her persona and goals? Does she act how he played her? Could that be why she wants to be called Big Sis and why she apparently gets the group in troubling situations (Cause she was an outlet for him to just have fun without the pressure of being a high profile player in the town. She's a lone and walking in the sun, I assume she doesn't have a group she belongs to)? How would she see him if they met? Does she also have his mad strategy skills? (guessing we will find out about that next week) It would be fun to see how he'd play as a Summoner! Maybe the lil ones can learn a bit from Rio 2!

This plot is as thick as my pancakes!!!

BlackWind i'm not sure whenever to answer some of your questions in the spoilers ( do you want to ? ) or if you want to continue guessing with the rest.

Man, I'm trying to get into this series but I just can't. I see no redeeming qualities whatsoever. This is probably the worst anime I have ever seen, no hyperbole. Story, world are meh. Characters are all stupid and unappealing except for maybe the ninja chick. The dub is horrendous and often find myself grimacing. I've only watched the first three episodes though. Does it get any better? I can't see why people like this at all so far. It must get better right?

Log Horizon is all about the long game, the series itself doesn't really get any sort of good til about the second arc at least.

yeah it does get better, there are some interesting aspects to it and a cool approach to the mmo anime thing. don't expect it to actually be a good anime though, at its peak it maybe reaches average quality. it can still be an enjoyable watch though, particularly if you've played mmo games yourself.

Try to watch up to the arc where they return to Akihabara and Shiroe attempts to solve the problems there. If you don't care for the show at that point, you'll likely never enjoy it. A big part of Log Horizon is the world building and dealing with a huge cast of characters who gain and lose importance through the various arcs.

Do we know if there's any type of time dilation from game time and real time. I seem to remember an episode in the first season where the shire talked about the game in beta and how that was thousands of years ago in log horizon time. And how the sage of the lake is a title passed down through the generations.

Yeah he figured if x event happened (launch / expansion) then that was like a few hundred years ago in the past. It explained why
the lake scholar knew his character already

Yeah , in the old Elder Tales game , everything was x12.
12 minutes in the game = 1 minute IRL.
After the apocalypse , it has been speculated by many that EE , went to a 1/1 time scale. But we don't know for sure

I guess having spoiled myself a little bit. (Even though the idea did come up...) But only spoiled the idea, not any other acts.

The idea that Roe 2 is Shiroe's Alt is almost scary. It's different from Shiroe's main since he inhabits their body- but instead Roe 2 supports the idea that he CREATED an being with their own free will that he himself once had control over. Freaky if you ask me. Makes me wonder about all of the other alt characters.

Just watched last week's ep, with the new vampire. Nice and meandery, little machinations here and there, just nice to watch basically.

New character seems interesting from the <1 minute or so we spend with her. Goddamn RPers

Log Horizon Season 2, Episode 17:

Right, so this is the episode where we get the actual backstory on Roe 2, well, at least the where did you come from and where are you going part. The whole being Shiroe without being Shiore has not quite dropped on them yet, but the obvious connections are being made. Also, Rule 63 Shiroe should be creating a lot of conflicting feelings for a lot of people. Also, calling bullshit on the disguised Nureha at having no reaction to somebody who looks and acts so much like Shiore considering her obsession. Indeed, I am unsure what Nureha's intentions are right now and her intentions towards the Log Horizon Junior League other than they are worrisome. Speaking of the kids, more mini-adventures in the dalliance of heroics as the trip is getting more arduous as they are not only passing through a town that sit near an active volcano but they are venturing deeper and deeper into enemy territory. I do love the fact that Log Horizon can do world building on so many levels, from the grandiose, in which I mean I was expecting many things from this show, I was not expecting the fucking INCOME INEQUALITY GAP to be a thing that is being addressed in this series. Indeed, it turns out the rich are getting richer and poorer are getting poorer and everything being said at the Round Table meeting, while in the framework of the game and the universe, actually sounds like reality, unnervingly so. Things like that are why this series won my AOTY vote. ALong those lines we meet one of the sub-divisions of the Plant Hwyaden who have invented a portable cathedral, which seems handy but also seems to have a high price attached to it, and is also a good indicator of the technology level that Plant Hwyaden is operating at. Though lest I forget that this series doesn't drop shit subtle like. In the beginning we see that Nureha and her entourage have a mag-lev train that doesn't need tracks, that is important as that explains how then can use such machines against Akiba. Yes, another fine episode, much better then last week and next week it looks like even more world building shall happen.

The show almost caught up with the books or something right? I really want an S3... So much stuff is happening now and only a handful of episodes left.

Yeah, I'm really hoping we get S3. I believe the anime has caught up to the LN, so we would have to wait awhile.

I liked this ep and I would love to see the world and the story grow.

in 3 episodes we'll have reached all the material available to us in the books

I'm not worried since the writter participated in the second season planning for the last 5 eps...

Tohya petting the puppy, sweet.

This was pretty fun and interesting episode. This arc is by far the most interesting since their cave training.

The lady feels like she has some negative motives.
