Amiibo Thread 3 | Where release dates are made up and preorders don't matter!

Welp, after avoiding amiibo for awhile... Rosalina made me cave. Picked up toon link and Kirby along with her. I traveled out to rural store out of the so cal basin with a friend and made it a trip. To my surprise, even the rural stores had 12 to 20 people in line.

I also lost my bet at work terribly, out of the 52 stores in our region, all but two were reporting sold out by 8:30am. Which still kind of blows my mind. Bowser is still somewhat available district wide.

Also, regaurding the supposed target memo. If real it looks like a intra distric email. Not a redwire that is company wide, we have no such notice on Ike, sonic, mega man and king d. infact they are all on a future plannogram for us and expected to be in store.

Some districs may not get them if stock is an issue. Many so cal stores never received little Mac even though it was carried in store.

And rosalina is listed for a second and third shipment from DC. It's on mydevice metrics as well. We will see what happens as the weeks go on.

Check to see if it's in the weekly newsletter for MMB Specialist. It's like the news in electronics and entertainment. I used to use that sheet to report AAR and service scores. Also to keep track of preorders

I'm checking tomorrow morning to see if it's real.

Need some help Gaf. I ended up getting an extra Rosalina. What to do with it? I don't need 2. I really wish I had a Metaknight in its place, lol

You could probably use this thread to trade it for a Metaknight. If not, I'll take it off your hands for retail plus shipping XD.

Please be true.

I meant no stock to put on the shelves. They'll only have enough to fulfill pre-orders, if this document is to be believed. Considering how the amiibo situation has been handled so far, I don't doubt it for a second.

There's an internal document out for TRU, too? I think TRU will get fewer figures than what they've received for past figures for the rest of wave 3 and beyond, but I haven't heard anything about not getting anything more than just to cover preorders.

gamestop won't get my shulk in until february 13. best buy is sending toon link, but for some reason ike and mega man won't arrive until some later date (they were ordered as part of the same original purchase).

lucario should be here tomorrow though.

wave 4 of the smash amiibos is where it is really going to hit hard. i think i'm getting all of those, especially since pac-man is one of my go-tos in smash bros.

I feel at this point with the mishandling of Amiibo's in America, Reggie should step down.

From a business sense them artificially creating demand by under supplying has been a major success. They are making a lot. Just at the expense of us.

They are probably giving Reggie a pat on the back.

Didn't they break a street date a few years back or something? I thought I read somewhere that Nintendo didn't like dealing with Walmart after that.
This honestly seems a bit petty.

It's probably not considered a mishandling by Nintendo internally. It's just us that suffer. Further entrenches my hate of Reggie.

awww man you're seriously telling me that Rosa isn't getting another shipment? c'mon man thats bs. :( So no one here still doesn't have a Rosa for sale here? Btw opened up my bowser, I really like the quality, surprisingly looks better than the promotional picture imo. also pretty heavy compared to the others I got.

This is really interesting information. Gives me hope. Keep us posted.

Do you have any gossip on Sheik, either corroborating or dispelling the "very rare" rumors? That one memo didn't mention him at all, as far as I saw.

Thing is they could double the supply for most of the rarer models and still easily sell out. I read somewhere on GAF that for collectibles, if resale values are more than double MSRP then there should have been more supply. I'd venture to guess that Nintendo evaluated the sales of the Wii U coupled with the preliminary retailer orders and decided to play conservative.

I'm hoping its fake... the spelling, grammar and dates are off :p I've seen some rough memos before but usually not that off lol also, the other side is talking about our Seuss kick off, which was part of an older newsletter that didn't include this information.

Haha, I could kind of believe that considering Nintendo's weird relationship with Amazon US going sour with system sales with many attributing it to the number of 3DS Amazon sent back to them.

I don't see where Target choosing not to sell any more of wave 3 Amiibos in store due to Nintendo's supply constraints could be seen as a great business move.

U.S. is shit for Amiibos. Aus got all of Wave 3 on Jan 29th. One date. No hassle. Germany you can walk into stores and find walls of all amiibos with good stock.

Prob going to ONLY import from Amazon international for future waves. Done with NoA shenanigans.

This has definitely been om my mind recently as well. After getting screwed out kind of never being able to finish my Wave 1 & 2 with the trinity and Mac, I've lost faith completely.

I do now have a friend who works at a Gamestop that works as a backup, only because the store he works at is a real drive to get to. But that's kind of where I'm at with the next Waves to come.

Why would they give her another shipment in her Smash form when they can just release her in her SMB form in the summer?! People are going to buy it either way...

looks like shipment of Amiibo from Amazon.de will be here tomorrow or the next day, worked out to be $21 each after shipping for a WFT, Villager and Fox. Less then 2 weeks to get them as well.

I think he'll be an easy one - it's going to be the Fire Emblem characters that will suck finding.

Nintendo has made a lot of money. Demand for these is at an all time and it's not dying down. I hate what Nintendo is doing. And I'd argue shitting on the consumer and doing it at our expense (the awful customer experience) is bad in the long term. But for now, I think the numbers would be in favor of it being a good business move.

Or maybe I'm wrong. I hate it either way.

I kind of want a Villager and Wii Fit Trainer now. Amazon.de is out of Villager though and I don't want to pay the shipping if I'm only getting one :(

Are you still able to find a Villager here and there in Germany? Any amiiboGAF members there that could possibly buy the two of them and send them to me? I'll pay the cost of the figures + shipping + a little extra for the effort.

Ultra-conservative estimates and fear of returns do seem like a more likely explanation given that the company is doing things like releasing only one n3ds model here, and not including the charger.

Maybe if we're lucky, eventually word of the missed sales opportunities will trickle up far enough to give somebody the idea of doing limited reprints of the rares.

I've been able to find every amiibo so far but it would be nice if it wasn't such a complete hassle to find them sometimes. There's a middle ground between overproduction and extreme scarcity that Nintendo needs to find soon.

See, that's where I'm at. Either NoA is their usual conservative self (GC controller adapter, LEs) or they are forcing high demand as a business tactic. Either way I wish SOMETHING would change. Maybe someone from NCL, will have a read on the American market for once and step in, or retailers will get fed up with the perpetual low stock and constant demand, and say something. I can't imagine that retailers wouldn't ask for more stock given the ridiculous demand, but NoA's relationship with some of them is already poor.

Guess we could always try flooding NoA's social media and customer service people with our grievances. >_>

I'm glad someone gets it. I don't think people realize how much work it takes to produce a line of toys. They have deals arranged with factories and shelf space in retail that take months, they can't just magically pull them out of the ether. I'm sure once they've run through the roster they will do a best hits rerun or something. They're probably scrambling just to make more Marths for code name steam
