Verendus came out and said it took him 10 hours to beat and he played it casually. As of now, that is the median time

If 10 hours is what we're going to peg as the "median" time...than I don't think 5 hours is completely out of the question for someone who blasts through any cut scenes or dialog and speed runs the heck out of the game...

See, I'm not liking that damn triangle prompt. Totally breaks the immersion for me.
its a video game fellas..let's not pretend we are doing anything more than sitting on our couches in shorts and t-shirt with a controller in our hands

We sound silly when we say shit like that

I wouldn't be surprised if you could platinum it in 24 hours. You could probably even do it in one playthrough if you managed to find all the collectables.

That part is certainly feasible but there has been no information showing it is the case, at least as far as I know, and he states it with absolute certainty without giving any sources on the matter. It also still doesnt change the veracity of his other stated claim that the game can be finished in 5 hours which was made based on certifiably invalid information.

You can't hide behind the "its just an opinion" excuse when you're displaying pure ignorance...

Dismissing the video simply because of the title of the video, or because he used a phrase you don't like is not giving an opinion...it's just being an over sensitive fanboy..

This is clearly directed towards me, and boy is it stupid. I didn't like the tone of his video so I didn't watch the rest, I think words like Sony Ponies and Xbots are freaking stupid, therefore it set a tone at the beginning that I didn't enjoy, nothing to do with being a fanboy.

You can literally shot the weapon out of enemies hands

Did you not dismiss the video as rubbish after 30 seconds because you didn't like his use of "Sony ponies?" Not even bothering to give it enough time to realize what context he was using the phrase in?

I stand by my statement 100%

If you bothered to keep watching you would have heard that he actually seems to share your opinion about those words..he states that other people call HIM a Sony Pony because he has made negative Xbone videos on the past...to which he says people take them too seriously and he just likes to get under the akin of fanboys

He clearly says multiple times "from what I'm hearing," "people are saying," things like that...he never claimed the game could be beaten in 5 hours...just passing on what he has heard...

I'm not saying he is right...but you have as much evidence to refute what he said as he does to back it up..not much outside of "what people are saying"

What does the timing of the first trophy have to do with the ability to beat a game in 5 hours btw?

That whole '5 hour thing' was started when a guy tweeted he'd finished the game, someone looked at the times on his trophies, and deduced from the period of the first and last trophies that it had taken 5 hours to finish the game. The original tweeter subsequently tweeted that this wasn't the case, that the game had taken longer.

I thought this game was like a movie? Wouldn't it be shorter because they are going for that? All the blur and grain etc plus a shorter narrative driven side? I hope the games good but there must be a reason it's generating so much mixed thoughts. I think it's gonna be average but hopefully it's surprisingly good

The 5 hour claim was based on the time difference between someone receiving their first trophy and the trophy they got for beating the game. It was roughly 5 hours. So people immediately went around claiming the game was only 5 hours. Then we received statements from the person whose trophies were used to make that claim confirming it is not accurate and that the first trophy was received well into the game. I dont see how that can be dismissed as hearsay or rumor. The initial claim was rumor the confirmation otherwise is not.

Watching the video unless I'm mishearing things his claims vis a vis the platinum trophy are not quantified with "so I hear" and he offers no sources on that information. As i said before it's certainly feasible that it could be accurate but I've seen nothing showing as much.

But this is neither here nor there I was jsut trying to point out that his video is not as grounded as you seemed to make it out to be. There was obviously little to no research done into the claims "he heard." It's easy to make a video and specify its based on rumors and assumptions. He didnt do that.

I've already responded to this, but it doesn't really do anything to hurt the guys case here...he may not have had the additional info at the time...and most people are saying the game is in the 8-10ish hour range played casually...

Personally I find that very acceptable...but if that's true I don't think a 5-6 hour speed run skipping all dialog or cutscenes is unreasonable...

He clearly says right at the beginning "This game...from what I'm hearing...can be platinumed in a day!"

Obviously he offers no sources..and he could be totally making it up..but I don't think it's completely out of the realm of possibility that it's true...

I'm not claiming the video to be based on any facts or "grounded" at all...

He could ha e made the video 15 seconds long and it would have been just as valid an argument...

"The Order: 1886 isn't worth $60...its a single player only game that looks to be in the 8-12 hour range depending on play style and I don't think that's worth $60"

That's all he is really trying to say...and there is no real argument to be made against that stance...

I didn't keep watching because directly after he said that people called him a Sony Pony he told all the other Sony Ponies to "relax because it's not the second coming of Christ"

I don't know I just think using Sony Ponies or Xbots or whatever you call Nintendo fans, is stupid. So yes I dismissed it. My opinion my friend, just like whatever he said is his opinion.

Plus I'd rather not hear him say stuff that almost everyone has already heard and discussed and debunked. That's why I asked if he played the game, because if he did I would have went back and listened to the rest of it.

OMG so many words wasted on someones video.

As if putting an opinion into a video and posting it on youtube makes it any more worth talking about than if the transcript was thrown into the middle of a forum topic (where it would sink without a trace, if it was the one people are arguing over).

This,

Plus the fact that it wasn't very good.

No. No no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no.

Was what you said supposed to counter the idea of immersion? Why do you think people get scared playing horror games?

Going to an event tonight in Shoreditch, London to hang out and play the game, have some food and get hyped. Loiking forward to it but ill post impressions later on tonight.

Only criticism I have is the vignette filter on everything. I would like to be able to turn that off. The lighting already has the proper mood and atmosphere without it.

Still looks amazing otherwise, never seen another game like it.

The guy clearly has an agenda.

Me:
CA and blur makes my eye hurt, when looking at any screenshot and covering all detail on the art, in a game with MSAA and non-upscaled resolution, so one that doesnt need it.

Response:
Guy has an agenda.

I cant even, the fanboyims in some people is so strong.
And hypocrisy, because those same people argue that 900p looks like a blurry mess and praise 1080p in DF face off threads.

---
Ps. I probably had an agenda too when i was creating this post and researching Skyrim graphical mods for a few days. [ENB modifications section]. Damn they changed file setup on skyrim nexus, so screens are not loading ;(

I so hate fanboys and hypocrites.

To be honest, most of the time I've seen you post something in The Order threads is usually about how Ryse does it better. (At least you've done it enough times that I can't really remember the times when you don't bring Crytek into the equation).

I don't think you have an agenda or that you want to annoy people on purpose. I think you just can't help it. The love between you and Crytek is too strong.

I'm assuming then that from here on out, any game that takes less than 11 hours to play is going to be immediately dismissed as 'a waste of money'. This is getting fucking ridiculous.

That's cool, but come on... You know what I mean.

I love CryEngine, not Crytek per se. Its just a company that push boundaries through pure tech, which is not always a case with general view of people on graphics, because they include art in it.

Like i think that The Order looks completely amazing graphically, but its not pushing the best tech, especially for this year. Dont get me wrong, they push very high end tech, just not the highest.
RaD is more aiming at best blend art and technology and thats fine too, its the same as it was with God of War 3, which still remains the king of past gen in terms of art and tech symbiosis.
As someone who is more interested in tech, i'm not impressed by everything in this game like some people are.
Thats all basically and i have not mentioned any of it in this thread yet, its the first time.

All i said, till now, was that RaD destroyed IQ in their game with too heavy post effects and they really didnt need to.
Problem is that i cant prove it, because its not on PC and You cant disable those effects, like You can in many other games.

Funny, isn't it?
Nobody had a problem with Resident Evil, where you could finish the game in 2 hours, if you wanted to. Or Silent Hill, Uncharted 1, etc.
But for "certain games" 8 - 12 hours aren't "enough".
Very suspicious.....

I'm not really questioning your knowledge/judgement on why you think The Order is not really pushing tech like you it should, or like you'd want them to. You might be right for all I care... My point was that, for the most time, you usually come out of nowhere in The Order threads just to bring Ryse and/or Crytek into the conversation. Even when nobody is eve talking about any of them.

There's nothing wrong with that, mind you... It's just that I've seen it way too often, and some people find it annoying.

Isn't it really impressive to get an mpressive looking game without using too impressive tech?

Edit:
Maybe I should read more carefully.
It's definitely preference if you like all the post effects or not.

I usually disable those effects in competitive games like CS GO, I don't mind if I am not able to disable it in this game. But I can unterstand that not everyone is happy about this.

if your interest is pure tech an engine developed by a company may not be where to focus your attention but rather general tech demos and the cutting edge of research into such things ... games engines are inherently restricted and not bleeding edge and thats why the whole art direction enters then gameplay then other issues etc.

Its not just about graphics, but simulation in a real time setting as well.
You can be interested in real time tech demos and real time game engines (which intertwtine with one another). They are not mutuallly exclusive interests.

The "concerned" crowd is getting out of fuel to burn The Order, so they are using stupid things like that.

I have never seen a game hurt the feelings of so many gafers like this.
