New NightCry (Silent Hill/Grudge devs + Michiru Yamane music) gameplay video

Damn that lady has some boobs. But seriously, looks good, but a little janky. Of course, SH games were never known for their good controls, so I don't know what I expect.

It's sort of a spiritual sequel to Clock Tower, which had a point and click interface. The video is obviously still work in progress though.

About the character: l I think she's supposed to be the opposite to the other serious/studious type main character:

Backed it at launch but this KS has just been oddly handled. If it fails I hope they realize they handled it somewhat poorly and maybe reorganize and reattempt it rather than write it off.

Terrible voice over.

I hope more people support the kickstarter. Right now it's not looking too good.
I'd love to see a PS4 version of the game but it's wishful thinking right now.

I wonder if they actually needed the funding for the KS or they planned to do a PC/Xbox One/PS4 version all along and this was just about risk mitigation?

Meh. If that guy came around the corner during normal gameplay/camera view, it would have been so much more effective. Didn't watch aftet that.

And take off your heels?

It's starting to sound like it, since they *are* developing a PC version, even if it's just an early build.

The game was originally just a Vita and mobile game. Those versions are being funded out of pocket by Kono and his friends. The idea for other versions came up when the initial announcement received a lot of positive feedback from people and their big question was whether or not it'd appear on other platforms.

I'm really excited for this. I had a ton of fond memories from playing Clock Tower 1 and 2 with my friends with a few 40oz malt liquors and all the lights out. Doubt I'll be able to recreate that scenario, but the game still looks stressful and fun. Hope the running animation and jank gets sorted out a bit though.

Ditch the high heel, FFS. Who actually thought it's a good idea to run around in heels and tight dress while being chased by a serial killer?

It's what she was already wearing when the killer showed up.

I guess she could ditch the heels, but walking barefoot through survival horror locations might not be all that advisable either. :P

If we take them to be honest, the discussion that they were in talks with other investors (an interview conducted with them over @ polygon concerning the struggling Kickstarter) would at least suggest that -- were the kickstarter to fail -- they would probably find another way (what I find more interesting is why the extra money needed to develop for Xbox One over PS4?).

I'm guessing because they're Japanese devs and they'll sell about 3 copies on Xbox One in Japan.

Pretty much. I'm still waiting for PS3 or Wii U goals before I kickstart it.

Sure you don't want to hold out for the N64 and Colecovision versions? :P

Also, I said this in the other thread, but they really should fix that mouse issue in their game. I get that it is (probably) frame-rate related, and optimization is probably a long way off, but it is definitely the most off-putting thing about all of their demonstrations up to this point.

I really hope this game gets funded. It has some real talented and creative people working on it. I know if it fails there's going to be all these people bitching how they miss true survival horror. People always back up stupid kickstarters yet don't back up the ones they should.

I'm always sad to see potentially very good projects always get behind this.

Developers really ought to know that many people don't care unless consoles are there from the start. It's a shame, we really are past that Kickstarter bubble. Hope they get the 300K at least, because there's no way they'll get to 450K for PS4.

The only thing I'm disappointed about is that Monica's in-game character model doesn't really match her concept art (which I really like).

I want the option for direct control like Haunting Ground/Demento. They can keep the mouse interface in the game for diehard fans, but it seems too archaic for me. I wonder how the console ports will even play. It can't be like this. Also, when I see Monica, all I can think about is how big her boobs are, and that she needs to take off her high heels, tear her dress for more mobility or something.

I dunno about that. Nudemaker is a tiny dev and they don't have a publisher for this. If the Kickstarter fails, I won't be surprised if they just stick with the mobile versions to see if they can sell enough copies to fund future development on other platforms. If it doesn't sell enough, that would be the end of it.

You're right on the money.

I would think the PC version would just use WASD. Not all that click the mouse to walk, hold to run, etc.

I saw you can also use double-click to run.

But I guess they could make direct control an option, for moving the character anyway.

Over 50% now.

Looking back, adding those console stretch goals from the start would have helped.

This looks really neat and I'll buy a vita if it's only released on that.

That luggage...

Also.. It looks kinda rough. But then, I like my horror games kinda janky. Only half way to the goal, and 8 days left..

The most archaic gameplay design I've seen in quite a while.

Yeah, its really looking rough and some game mechanics seem to be straight out of a PSX game.

The sad thing ( because i really like those guys ), is in the kickstarter video where @ 6:46 he says.
"There's a lot of talk on the internet about how Japanese games suck now"
"We're here to show you that no, Japanese games dont suck"
"This is what Japanese game creators are really capable of"

...

This looks rough.

To be fair, they have like a year of development left if this makes it past its goal. The wonkiness of it is understandable, even if it doesn't fill one with extreme amounts of confidence, I guess.

Though curious to see if the new Monica model is actually closer to the art. That would be nice.

Looks interesting to me, but nothing i'd expect from former SH developers. I wish it's more like SH3

I'm pretty sure the only former SH staff is a creature designer. To be more accurate, this game is by former Clocktower developers. Same director/writer/game designer/studio.
