I don't think anybody is going out of their way to "destroy" this game... I obviously can't speak for everyone, but I've been accused of trying not to like this game, but that's not it at all. RAD has done a very poor job of showcasing this game. They released 11 minutes of gameplay and it happened to be a very slow moving section that didn't ease the concerns of people worried about the gameplay/cutscene ratio. The impressions are nice to see and I've said earlier, I've already got this fully paid off and am getting it no matter what, but I will be shocked if this is above 80 on metacritic. I was expecting low 70s high 60s for a while. Recent streams and impressions have left me thinking- hey maybe they have just done a poor job showcasing the game, lets wait for it to come out.

There was an astroturfing post on reddit that made the front page of /r/ gaming that used a fake image claiming a downgrade for the game. Numerous posts online claiming the game is as short as 3 hours. X1 and PC people have a lot to be upset about this year, PS4 exclusives are going to be awesome.

I hate the vibe around this game's release. And all because it's an exclusive property, too. SMH
It feels like the console warz are its most heated, like the Sega Vs Nintendo era.

Yup. Pretty much why I've stayed out of every thread regarding this game since its gameplay reveal.

February 20th can't come soon enough.

Do you really believe that there are people being paid money to shit on The Order in various parts of the Internet?

Do you also believe that there are actually people without PS4s that are legitimately upset about PS4 exclusive games?

Just got the tweest at the end of chapter IX.

lol

I don't believe people are being paid for it.

And yes, console fanboys are a real thing. On all sides of the spectrum.

Is it the 20th yet?

Don't know about negative paid astroturfing, but are you really pretending that 2nd group of people don't exist?

I probably should have said "a significant number." I can't imagine most people giving a shit. Those that do might be envious, but legitimately upset about exclusives that funded by the platform holder?

Not sure about the first one, but the second one is absolutely a possibility lol

First question: I never said anybody was being paid.

Second question: How do you explain all the made up bullshit that people say about this game

any updated impressions?

No. Not really. Some new weapons made from some pretty badass shootouts.

I think I'm taking way too long trying to savor this game, because it kind of demands to be blasted right through. A lot of actions you'd think would matter are inconsequential, like looking for clues and perusing the environment for secrets. It's all very funneled. Follow the NPC, gawk at the vistas, trigger cutscene, shoot bitches. That's the basic bread and butter.

A game like this has to do a good job anticipating player reaction to avoid breaking its own flow. You may find yourself stumbling about an area that's completely devoid of any interaction beyond simply walking through it, some other times they don't make it obvious enough what you have to do, neither by NPC specific dialogue nor on screen prompts. So that movie like flow they're going for can kind of break momentarily.

I'm still holding onto my gripes about their creative choices with the story. Hopefully the game redeems itself in a huge way, 'cause for all the strong character interactions you may have, the snappy well written dialogue, if you don't introduce them, or establish them better in the opening act, everything else pretty much falls flat.

But that's just me.

You said astroturfing. If it were just crazed fanboys with too much time on their hands, it wouldn't count as astroturfing. Not sure if I misunderstood what you were talking about.

I don't think I've played anything that I'd feel has "next-gen" gameplay. It's not something that really means anything to me, and feels like a pretty empty comment. I'm somewhat a sum of its parts kind of player anyway.

There is no such thing. The only difference between "last gen" and "next gen" is hardware and if there was such a thing, it would already be seen on PC.

cool, what would you give it out of 10?

For those playing the game, what do you expect to see this game to come out as for score? 70s', 80s', 90s' !?! 100?!!???

EDIT: I assume based off of peoples' impressions is mid to low 80s'. Because this game definitely isn't for everyone in terms of gameplay

I'm certain of the second one. Why would people care so much about the game otherwise? It's hard to remember a game that was criticized so much before release, why would this of all games create so much controversy? I don't even have a PS4 an I hope this game sells well and is well reviewed just to see some people eating crow, RaD deserves a better treatment than this.

:O Looking forward to your review.

Won't be one. We didn't get it for the site I write for. Sorry. I'll just have to post my thoughts on GAF. :) Though I think it's a sign PR, etc are starting to care less about metacritic scores. (which is cool) Our scores are attributed to it but that doesn't guarantee a review copy always these days.

That's where most hate from exclusives comes from. Like if the Order bombs it makes the Xbox or wii U a better system . Truth is it doesn't. Saying he game isn't your thing is cool. But the people championing the flaws of a game no one has played, definitely has an agenda.

Although I am excited to play this game and pretty sure I will like it, I honestly don't think this game will get anywhere near the mid 80's metacritic rating that some of you are predicting. I would love it to be the case but when game's like Alien Isolation, The Evil Within and Driveclub get an average metacritic below 80, I just can't see a game which has already proven to be divisive amongst game journalists leading up to release, get that kind of reception. We are only setting ourselves for disappointment come review thread time if we really believe most reviewers will love this type of old school, linear and cinematic title.

Critics are getting increasingly reluctant to dish out high scores nowadays and with the arrival of the new generation of consoles seem to be more nitpicky about things like 'innovation' etc.

Having said all of that, I think even if the game gets middling reviews anyone who already likes the look of the game based on the impressions on GAF and their own intuition should not be discouraged from at least giving the game a try. After all 'Dragon's Dogma' a game that is almost universally loved here on GAF only got 78 on metacritic. Yep, 78 for 'Dragon's Dogma'!

Hey I have a question for the guys that ha e played or are playing the game right now, how much would you pay (if you werent skint or in any bad financial troubles) to play the sequel right now/when you finish? I think this would show a good indication of how positivley people enjoyed the whole experience.

This game is also disliked by a certain crowd on ideological grounds for the kind of game it is.

Driveclub, evil within and dragons dogma are basically the definition of mediocre. If The Order is as average or below average as the titles you mention it doesn't deserve higher scores.

1.5 hours of gameplay is obviously wrong but I don't see why you couldn't beat it 6-8 hours. Out of the chapters he's uploaded the total play time is 2 hours and 23 minutes. Chapter 5 isn't on there but I'm gonna guesstimate based on the PSX demo its a 40 minute mission and chapter 8 is 30 minutes. That 3 hours and 30 minutes for the first 8 chapters. 6-8 doesn't seem that hard to do to me.

I think 6-8 is doable, but who really thinks otherwise? 6-8 would be anywhere from 4 to 5 times what the guy said, which is pretty embarrassing. I don't know why anyone would say something like that unless they were a liar or an asshole.
