Its the perfect storm:
-PS4 exclusive.
-Cinematic game (some people get really bothered by it).
-Amazing graphics (surprisingly this seem really bother some PC owners).
-Made by a developer many people don't know about (if they were better known people would give them more credit, people don't seem to care they made some of the best PSP games).
-Some people still have unreal expectations of "next gen gameplay".

Hit the nail on the head, for those not seein it.

Hmmm....

Smells like a 7/10.

Daily reminder that critics slammed Driveclub for shitty reasons.

I don't have much faith in reviews anymore.

And before anyone comes up with the "b-but online servers were shit" excuse. Just know this. That shit wasn't an issue before launch. I know this because I was one of them. Only after launch did the problems happen. So the critics played the version people are playing right now and which is getting praised for the right reasons.

I think I'm starting to get the story,

This is what happens when you play a game like this in chunks. Fucking hectic weekend.

Also, any word on whether RAD hand animated the faces? There's some real subtlety to it, most evident in the less shaky cam scenes.

I think 6-8 is doable, but who really thinks otherwise? 6-8 would be anywhere from 4 to 5 times what the guy said, which is pretty embarrassing. I don't know why anyone would say something like that unless they were a liar or an asshole.

I think he was implying the game is about 6 or more hours, but less than half of that is spent plaYing the game.

I think I remember them saying they did. Not 100%

What do you mean by chunks?

Lol the defense force in this thread is too much. I get some of what you say, but sometimes people actually believe what they write, not everybody is a console warrior.

Right, but we know it's false anyway from multiple people here. Not even sure why anyone is still talking about it.

I've criticised the game aplenty, and I haven't even played it.

With that being said, there's a difference between criticism, both well-founded or stupid (lack of next gen gameplay) and the FUD we've been seeing in regards to the length of the game.

Pretty much. I was harping on about the same thing a few pages back.

But I'll say this again. DRIVECLUB was one of these lovingly crafted games. And it took months of price cuts and deals for people to start trickling in realizing why the game was so good. Reviews and fanboy bullshit be damned.

Hopefully we can avert the cataclysm that the review thread's gonna be. But knowing the regular shit posters, it's gonna go up in flames either way.

Right, but we know it's false anyway from multiple people here. Not even sure why anyone is still talking about it.

I've spoiled myself about 90 minutes plus of the early parts of the game, and while there are a sizable amount of cut scenes, more than half are easily gameplay.

And the early parts are supposed to be the slower ones, based on the impressions we got.

The last half of the game has to be 80:20 ratio of cuts scene: gameplay for the ridiculous claims to be true.

Hopefully we can avoid the inability to criticize the game legitimately like the driveclub thread.

Holy SHIT! I just got an awesome piece of equipment. Now I really feel like a Van Helsing level muthafucka

You gettin' preemptively defensive bruh?

As someone who hasn't played a racing game since Burnout Paradise..... how accessible is Driveclub?

It isn't.

...

It's not hard, but it's gonna kick your ass, and you're gonna like it.

It demands precision to be successful. You can get by just fine crashing and cutting corners, etc. But once the scoreboards and Face Offs start speaking to you, you're gonna feel the pressure to do better. That's where the rage comes in.

Good therapy, game. Yeah.

Just hope the game reviews well so we dont have a thread that ends up being a flame war.

I would be shocked if the Order reviews around the 85 range on metacritic.
Critics have been going on a tirade on a bunch of games this gen.

A game like Uncharted 1 that sits at 88 would not sit at an 88 with the same type of jaded reviewers we have today. Games like Wolfenstein, Alien Isolation and Evil Within not breaking 80 would be easy 85+ in the previous gen. And reviewers seem to hate graphically intensive games that dont innovate in the genre as if that's a requirement to score well now. (see: Driveclub)

Review thread will be a massacre.

I will just avoid the review thread if the game reviews bad. I hope to hell it reviews well, but knowing journos these days they will dock it points for stupid shit. Fingers crossed it reviews well but nah

Not defensive, just think the hypocrisy of console warriors is funny. They want to rag on people for "trying to take a game down", when in reality a lot of us "concern trolls" have legitimate concerns, the defense force is just doing anything they can to ignore the flaws. I've stated time and time again I'm excited for the game, I'm buying it, but I'm still not positive this is going to be a great game, I expect a good solid game, but I also wouldn't be shocked if we got an utterly average/mediocre game with excellent production values.

I also happen to love driveclub, but it's far from perfect, and the hyperbole from the fans about that particular game is ridiculous. I've seen many come into that thread and make legimtiate criticisms and they get absolutely chased away as trolls.

This is another thing that gets brought up in threads all the time concerning exclusives on every side of the console war, but I just don't see it. No matter the results (unless PERFECT) people always call out reviewers for the same things. Games can and do still review well, however it's not a shock to me last year there was a dearth of major titles reviewing great, it was a down year across the board, especially with some of the majorly hyped releases.

LOL, how the hell did an Order thread turn into an Obama thread? Unless Obama suddenly grows a thick hairy moustache, this doesn't even make sense :P

OT: Nice to hear mostly positive feedback from people who already played or are still playing this game. I'm hoping for this game to turn out to be a solid cinematic TPS with impossibly good looking visuals and so far it seems to deliver. RaD deserves more respect and recognition.
