Looks good to me, can't wait to completely bypass type-0 on release day and go directly to FFXV demo lol. It would be awesome if there happens to be an ending scene on the demo and after the end it gives us a release date. I know I'm reaching for the stars, but hey, it could happen.

I think this game is looking great.
Can't wait for the demo. It's going to hurt once the demo is over and the realization kicks in that the long wait will continue for a while. :/

This, I have been waiting for a REAL sequel for FF12.
The wait has been to long. Hopefully it lives up to the hype.

FF14 is the real sequel to FF12 because of the way it looks and because many of the same staff worked on both games. You should check it out.

Gladio's buttons are floating in mid-air. Game ruined!

Only X raised the bar... In facial animation. But it has rough spots compared to even earlier games like MGS2.

MGS2 came out 4 months after FFX. FFX certainly blew me away at the time. I can't really think of any better looking console games before it.

FF14 doesn't really have anything in common with 12 outside of a few similar ideas.

I wonder if we'll ever hear more on that Fortress MMO or whatever it was.

This is a game in a modern setting, with cars and mechanics and whatnot. Why would there be random medieval style chests laying around in fields?

I'd honestly be really disappointed if the game went that route.

Maybe, cardboard boxes? :p
Might just be a white glowing sparkly point like in Tales of Xillia.

Think most of the materials will come from killing enemies, and maybe completing quests.

Outside of Japan it didn't. MGS2 arrived first.

When FFX came out I thought it looked lesser than MGS2 in all but facial animation.

Nomura is mostly responsible for the main characters designs. The other bulk of not-so important NPC's are done by other SE artists.

This could be a Roberto Ferrari design, for example.

I thought people were saying her face looks like classic Nomura?

I think they're pretty close, but I can see that. Localization date is irrelevant though. FFX is an older game, so it doesn't make sense to use MGS2 as an example of a better looking game that already existed when it was released.

People can't see the downgrade? It's clearly there. Still, I've put in my FFT0 HD pre-order so I will get to play and judge for myself when day the comes.

Can you please be more specific? Besides the "no self-shadowing on grass", I can't see any downgrade.

And I can see your point there too. But in practice they're both very close games.

I just don't think there was any era where FF was this big graphical powerhouse that no one could compete with. They've been "on par" with the leading edge, but they aren't siginificantly ahead of anyone. They just have excellent art and a focus on character detail.

And I think XV is exactly the same in this regard.

Of course it does, it is just that 14 had less of a MMO focus.

FF was always well ahead. From the time they started using mode 7 to the cutscenes in 10.

I love ARR but despite the shared staff, the game's atmosphere and design have almost nothing to do with XII. (There is some stuff they put in like the dotted zone lines, the zodiacs and the marks, nice touches but mostly superficial).

I wish it did more :/

Zodiark and the ascians are a pretty big tie-in.

Lower LOD ?
Lower texture filtering ?

And some textures going weird like the water.

Downgrade discussion aside, I'm pretty much excited by FFXV, the more I heard of it. To think this game was one of the 3 reasons I bought a PS3 :/

Maybe I'm spoiled by Monolithsoft, but the art is uninspired.

Eh I could see how you could say that in these scenes at least, but a lot of what we've seen on the game looks amazing and FF overworlds are usually on the more blandish side so eh. It all looks good to me.

There is nothing like that in the current batch of screens/video.

It still hasn't sunk in that we are a month away from finally playing FFXV/Versus XIII. It still seems too good to be true, and I have this nagging feeling that the demo will be super short.

What length are people expecting? Something more substantial than MGS5: Ground Zeroes? How long have past FF demos been?

I don't see any downgrades. Unless I see side by side comparisons of before or after I won't believe it.

I am expecting people are looking for downgrades and anything that looks a little off is a downgrade. It was like Infamous Second Son where people pointed out downgrades which turned out to be different time of day.

I think it's because we've been seeing the game in motion up until now, and those aren't dummy shots.

Tabata said two hours, three to four if you explore. In the press release today they said there's several hours of gameplay and "many hidden secrets."

It's funny seeing people talk about this game being "years" away. There is not a chance this game doesn't come out by the end of 2016 and I wouldn't be shocked if Square rushes it out this year.

Mode 7? Really? That launch era SNES parlour trick?

FF was graphically modest until VII. It just had good art. And even the PS1 games were basically made up of good prerendered art.

Someone mentioned the summons in FFVII as good examples of early PS1 3D... And I agree. But you wouldn't want to compare those to what people on PC were playing at the time.

Put this conversation in context. It's a response to someone saying its a pity that FFXV doesn't "raise the bar like FF used to". If XV doesn't raise the bar, then FF never did in this way. I'll concede the facial animation of X as a high point in FF tech, as well as VII's CGI efforts. Otherwise it's been on par, never leading the way.... Not any more than XV is now (because it looks fantastic for our era)

Sounds reasonable. Only worry is how much time will be wasted holding our hands with the battle system...

XII was short if I recall. I remember running around the coastlines doing random battles
XIII was about 40 mins

Oh man that's annoyingly short lol. Hopefully a bit more padded than that.

Of course yes ! Did you ever seen the October video ?

The drawing distance, the foliage, the texture filtering... it looks better than the screenshots shown here.

Mmhh.. I don't see it. To me, the latest video (Source of those screenshots) looks basically the same as the demo walkthrough that they did a few months ago, except for maybe the self-shadowing on grass.

Character models seem the same. Lighting seems the same. Texturing seems the same. Draw distance seems the same. Even the weird-looking water seems the same.

The problem is that FF Versus Xlll was announced several years ago with gameplay videos and everything. Then, there were a couple years of radio silence on the game. A year or so ago, the game was renamed to FF XV, along with some new gameplay videos and an advertisement. Seems like a bit of a repeat, so it's no surprise people are still skeptical.

I hate that all of the main characters in your party are dressed in black. The character design in general leaves a lot to be desired. It already feels dated.

Again, they are still so far away from release. This isn't going to be like FFXIII where the demo was released 7-8 months before the final game and there was barely any upgrades done to it.
Pretty sure she is not one of his designs.
Please tell me there are other female characters. Preferably ones wearing actual clothing. Also, that "upgrades" can include wardrobe. I am willing to wait until 2016 for this game if this can happen. Wait contently, rather, since we'll be waiting until then anyway.

Being a buzzkill, I know, but if we're doing a bro-tastic boy band thing for the main party it would be a massive letdown if women were all bro-tastic eye candy stereotypes as well. A lack of variety can legitimately lower the entertainment value of a game.

Sony should make a deal with Square to get this as a Timed exclusive.

It would be a good way to counteract MS's move with Tomb Raider.

Why?
Like that would matter. 99% of the sales will be on the PS4 anyway. If XV was ported to the wonderswan it would sell more than the X1 version.

If you want to see "ONLY ON PLAYSTATION" on the box, buy an Asian copy. Since SCEI would most likely publish it in that region like with the past FF games
