Halo: The Master Chief Collection is STILL broken after 100 days

Yep, you heard that right. Microsoft's flagship franchise has been turned into garbage you'd expect from a garbage B-tier team. Maybe that's what 343 is.

Many people including myself, bought Xbones to play Halo. I spent over 500 to relive memories from Halo 2. This franchise has been tainted since Halo 4 was released, and then further damage from this shoddy collection. Can't wait for Halo 5 to come and go, with a whimper.

And why hasn't the head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, said anything about this debacle? He was hyping it up left and right before release.

All I know is I bought a paperweight that I can't return. Thanks 343. You can count me out from giving you money ever again.

Edit: Matchmaking is the biggest issue. Takes forever to find games, it's supposed to be on dedicated servers, but it's always lagging and people get dropped constantly from matches. It also has a shit ton of UI bugs. Bugs so bad, that it can throw you into a campaign mission lobby with a bunch of randoms.

Why would you not just refund your purchase of the game at this point?

It's a broken product and these companies are certainly not outside consumer rights law.

If your going to make a thread like this then you should make it a point to elaborate on what's broken to you. Just saying.

I've played hundreds of hours of matchmaking, and I've hardly experienced any problems since about two weeks after launch.

Sucks for people that still can't play it, though.

I haven't had any problems, but, I'm only playing single player. I heard that was broken as well, but, been alright for me so far.

It's 100 days tomorrow though lol. But yeah, just crazy. So many expected the problems to fixed soon. We're now past three months, and with the bulletin today, it doesn't seem like that large "transformative" patch is coming until March. Who knows what will happen, how they'll integrate ODST into the UI etc.

Microsoft's #DriveClub

Not even close, considering Driveclub's SP has always worked, and the online is now pretty damn reliable. I play an hour or two of DC a night online. I STILL can't play matchmaking with my friends on MCC. The last couple bulletins just keep saying the same thing- a big, massive fix is supposedly coming "soon".

Yep and its fairly random some days I can't do anything, many days then I can, while some of my subscribers have rarely got in, or rarely had issues. Saddest thing is I get more hate for calling out 343 than anything else on my channel. I wish that weren't so because the MCC is simply one of the grandest ideas ever...and wholly unfulfilled.

broken if you party up with people, which sucks tbh , i tried with my cousin and friends and we fail

its fine if you play solo, i have gotten a ton of games since i got it from the MS store glitch, from Big team battle to swat to everything, its been fun

The worst purchase I ever made in terms of gaming. It's one thing buying a bad game but a broken game that had such potential is just sad. I legit feel bad for paying money and supporting these garbage practices.

Yeah, gotta agree.

"not fully functioning" is more appropriate.

"a fucking mess" also applies.

Does the single player still work well?

it does, and despite a variety of smaller issues, its perfectly playable.

id say its definitely worth it for purely solo or offline co-op play if you were planning on buying it on sale this weekend.

just dont get your hopes up for any sort of co-op or multiplayer to be functioning smoothly at all and you'll be fine.

Feels good not having a next gen console yet because the games are horrific on both PS4 and XB1. Not going near this shit at all until 2016 or 2017. By then shit should be together If not...PC it is probably for life. Consoles and devs blow so hard right now.

Ummmm I've been getting into matches this entire week

lol

How many games start unevenly? How many end before the score is reached? How many crash your game? Still no ranks, no updated settings. Fuck outta here, it's trash, plain and simple.

CE has an aiming bug that pushes your reticule away from an enemy, Halo 2 classic hit detection is broken, Halo 3's audio is broken, and H2A gets random lag spikes every 30 seconds or so.

So yea, you can get into games solo, but it's FAR from even being close to passable.

Wtf is he gonna say and honestly what good will it do?? He just gonna get insulted and shitted like everybody else who commented on this.

If you'd read anything about the problem you'd know its not completely their fault. The game was designed to run with the Xb1's original party system the one that Microsoft had to backpedal on because it was broken, the problems with MCC come from the incompatibility of the new party system that they had to shoehorn in. However as a Halo fan myself I think if you want to leave the franchise then thats fine. Do it, but don't put down a group of people who whether you liked it or not, poured their hearts into halo 4 and the MCC and despite their problems (and yes I know that there were many) they are entertaining games when they do work, and I personally have to say that aside from the debacle of launch week my MCC actually works fine, I've never had to wait any longer than about 7 mins for a match and thats usually in the low pop playlists.

My point that I'm trying to make and which I'll most likely be called a shill for, is that the Halo community at large has become a rather elitest and entitled bunch and definitely one whose opinion on a game seems to flip with each new game that comes out.

For a long time Halo CE was the pinnacle of FPS for me and quite a few people, then halo 2 came out and people complained that they preferred the multiplayer in Halo 1 despite its lan only nature. Then halo 3 came out and guess what? Turns out the entire community preferred Halo 2 but when it finally became time for Halo Reach to release, everyone complained and said Halo 3 was the best after Halo 2, and of course then with the release of Halo 4 everyone flocked back to reach claiming that they had "Way more fun on Reach".

Its happened with every game that has come out, and I'm sorry but at least for me personally, while I've enjoyed every halo multiplayer, I've never particularly cared whether or not its the way everyone remembered or whether it was every really that important. For me the story has always delievered my money's worth and then some, and Halo 4 definitely did that in a big way for me with the bridging of books and games happening at long last (yes with retcons but still I enjoyed it).

For me it comes down to one thing, have I enjoyed every halo game released? Yes, unequivocally so, I've always had my little niggles but I've enjoyed every single game.

If you don't enjoy the game, don't buy it, if you've already bought it, then trade it in, and get something else, because we buy games to enjoy them don't we? Or do we buy them to berate the Developers and complain about every problem despite the knowledge that the team is DESPERATELY trying to fix it. I mean it could be worse, we could have had a situation like AC: Unity where while ubisoft started patching the hell out of it, they basically said "Oh well, better just move on to the next one"

Just my two cents, not looking to begin an argument or a flame war. I accept you find the problems in MCC untenable and for that I'm extremely sympathetic, but to insult the people who made it, is simply churlish and unbecoming and a increasingly alarming sign of the state that the Halo fanbase I used to love has fallen into.

Jobs should be lost.

This quote quite simply terrifies me and reminds me of the posts stinkles made about the death threats that had been made against him and his family. What on earth has happened to the gaming community that a comment like this could even be made? What gives you the right? If you purchased a book and then halfway through find out that you don't like it would you then suggest that the Author should quit and do something else? Your comment astounds me and I hope it stems purely from frustration because if you actually believe what you said then I am truly frightened

Does the single player still work well?

As long as you play each level to completion and don't shut down at checkpoints.

And avoid playing legendary due to crash-prone levels.

And don't much care about audio mixing since the channels are totally screwed up in Halo 2 and 3.

Etc. etc. etc.

Happy 100 days anniversary, boys.

I haven't been able to get into a match for weeks now. The last one I got in was a lag fest. But hey, 343i says that dedicated servers are working perfectly!

I played all 4 campaigns on legendary without a single bug, hiccup, or crash. General consensus is that the campaigns are fine, minus checkpoints. Crashes, bugs, etc rarely happen in campaigns.

The game is not exactly broken. It is still has a frustrating amount of problems that keep me from playing it as much as I probably would, but I still have enjoyed a lot of games on the MCC. It is still unacceptably glitchy and unreliable, especially with parties. It's still far from the polished experience that we associate with Halo games from the past. The biggest problem is that all these little things make it just that much of a hassle to play that even hardcore fans like me are signing on less and less. The population is really dying now and has been since launch. We don't need any population counters to be sure of that. Sadly I doubt that we will ever get to see what could've been a healthy resurgence of a positive (relatively.. heh) and fun Halo community growing up around the MCC.

I've been checking every couple days to see if it's time to try and play Halo again because apparently some large patch that they've been working on for several weeks is about to be released that will (maybe, hopefully) remedy much of the remaining issues.

Don't worry, once 343 fixes it the wait will be swept under the rug and no one will remember this minor inconvenience

Why should people who bought the game in a physical format be forced to take a loss on a broken game?

I got a full refund for my digital purchase, but it's absurd to blame people who bought it out of good faith to take the L and trade it into GS for probably $20.

My cousin, buddy and I just got XBones. We are gonna be grabbing GTA V, Destiny, and COD this weekend. Due to the 60% sale we were thinking of getting MCC. But is it really that bad?

Well, thanks for the update. I've been holding off on picking it up until it's in proper working order. Still, sucks for all of you who have already picked it up.

If you release something it is your fault, period, full stop. 343 made the game, hyped the game, made promises, and failed to deliver. So yes, it is completely their fault.
