Amiibo Thread 5 | Because we didn't preorder thread 4

My scalped Mega Man should be here tomorrow. With that my son is happy and I am finally off this shit train. Hopefully big N figures this stuff out so these don't stay collectors items. Before letting the order ship I did my due diligence and went to every local store that has amiibo.

TRU- They only got enough Mega Man for pre-orders and a couple more, which were grabbed the second they opened. It is now listed as discontinued in their computer. These guys have been awesome as far as customer service and I have no reason to doubt them. They confirmed that all the Fire Emblem characters have more ship days near Project Steam.

Gamestop- Only for pre-orders, no idea when they will get more.

Walmart- Nice lady said that they got in a few of the new ones, then asked if people were charging a lot online for them. I told her they were being scalped and she said there is a guy who comes in the SECOND they put new ones out and buys all of the new ones. She said he either knows someone at the store or is psychic because it is every time they get any. She said they figured he was doing something fishy but that Walmart will NOT let them limit purchases, and they would get in trouble if they tried to stop him.

Target- Sold out, no clues or fucks given by anyone.

When Amazon UK opened wave 4 preorders, I was able to preorder any I wanted in probably the first 15-20 minutes. I was able to snag a Lucina and Robin preorder. However within 30 minutes of the open preorders, I believe most of them were closed.

Amazon Japan doesn't ship to the US, you have to use a middleman service. Ship to the middleman, they receive the package, then you pay them to ship to you.

Tenso is your best bet for this type of service.

I'm thinking of getting out too, but I have an insane need to get Pac Man, Ness and Olimar (if they make him) before I drop out. I originally bought these because I have loved Nintendo since 1986 and thought it would be fun to have little figures of characters I like, but I am too damned old to wait in line in sub zero temperatures and race all over town for Amiibo.

Same for Game in the UK. Charizard and Wario were available online for a little while after, and you can still find them, but my best estimate is Lucina and Ness, then Pac and Robin in terms of rare.

I have a feeling it'll get worse and worse worldwide from here on in. I'm totally considering timing holidays/business trips to mainland Europe when Mr. G&W and Duck Hunt Duo (the two I'd really care about for nostalgic reasons) are out.

I have a few doubles (no more than two) of uncommons/rares ordered/bought for trades later on. And if I don't need to, will sell them to people at cost plus shipping.

You're only encouraging this asshole by buying scalped figurines. I really want an Ike but I'm not willing to give money to some unemployed neckbeard who rushes to Best Buy/Walmart/TRU the moment they open to snatch up all the amiibos.

Also, if someone can hook me up with the new Pushbullet link, that'd be swell. It sucks whoever that guy is (sorry, I don't keep up with the GAF amiibo lore) ruined the one we had.

It is for my 6 year old sons birthday. Sucks to support scalpers but like I said, it is his favorite character in the world. I did everything I could to get it otherwise but it was not in the cards. Blame Nintendo.

It's been anywhere from midnight to 3 in the morning or so. And I remember Amazon UK putting POs up in the middle of the afternoon Greenwich Mean Time.

Bit of a crapshoot.

After reading this thread, I am glad I am not addicted to collect amiibo.

Got Marth, WFT, Link, Pikachu etc in the first wave and felt it's a trick by Nintendo to make everything feel hard to get. Glad I pull myself out before it's too late.

Really don't want to waste money and time and most importantly, to constantly worry about wave after wave of amiibo coming out - which seem to keep coming and won't end anytime soon.

I actually find the sporadic releases fun, and I don't consider it "wasting" money because I love Nintendo and the figures usually range from good to great in quality.

I have 15 amiibos so far, most are commons but a few are considered rare. I try to buy the ones I really want and I don't stress it if I miss one. Now as far as collecting them all, yeah that would be rather stressful I imagine.

Besides watching alerts I honestly didn't even think of it. Most people seem to be having enough trouble finding their own stuff. Its all good though. It will be here tomorrow, Toad is pre-ordered, I am out of the game unless it shows up in a local shop. He does have a Villager though that we got from a Target before Xmas. Never knew it was going to be rare. At least scalpers would fume to watch him play with that like a toy (which he does lol, Bowser was punching Villager yesterday:P)

Also, has anyone noticed Fox becoming rare? Here in WV they've become really hard to find.

I got caught up in the craze, and it was fun running around town for a week, but now I'm just annoyed trying to find the figurines I want. I can't sit in front of my computer hitting F5 waiting for pre-orders to go up or camp outside of a store hoping to beat some jerk to the toy section before they can buy all the amiibos. This whole process has been a headache.

I love reading this. Most kids I've seen these days do nothing but use iDevices and other smartphones off their parents. Even my own little sisters and nieces. They don't know how fun it is to play with toys.

Just make sure he doesn't throw Megaman through the air. He likes to break stuff. This one time when we were kids, my brother and I were goofing around with a Megaman figure, throwing it back and forth. Or at least we were. Then he got his head lodged in our glass window. Shattered the whole thing when we pulled it out lol.

I haven't posted here a ton in the past but I figured this is as good a place as any for it...

Like a lot of people here I'm having a hell of a time trying to find some of the last Wave 3 figures, and I'm not even buying them all...just my favorite characters. I'd really love a King Dedede and a Sonic but I missed out on the pre-orders and every store I've gone to is out and basically saying they'll only cover pre-orders (if that).

Anyway, I ended up with two Rosalina figures a few weeks back and only need one of them, so I know it's a long shot...but does anyone here have an extra Dedede or Sonic they'd be willing to trade for a Rosalina? I'm happy to send a picture of the Rosalina I have to anyone who's interested as well...it's in perfect condition as far as I can see!

Most of his Amiibo haven't even been scanned into Smash. It sucks that Mega Man is sort of a dead character in Capcom's eyes. I read the (Awesome) Mega Man comics to my son, he has one more robot master before getting to Dr. Wily in Mega Man 2. He is a good bit through X as well. Always surprises me how well he can play old games. I was trying to "help" him in Mega Man 2 and was getting slaughtered on Air Man's stage. He took the controller and speedran the damned thing. PROUD DAD.

every Wave 4 amiibo in the USA is a store exclusive.

target, toys r us, gamestop, walmart, best buy, amazon

each one going for sale at a different time, on a different day

Customer satisfaction at record levels.

With Wave 3, they announced that figures would be store exclusive before pre-orders even went live. I kind of doubt that any of Wave 4 will be retailer exclusive based on that.

US hasn't seen wave 4 preorders go live yet, so store exclusives could still happen.

Don't listen to what others think, you do what makes you happy, or in this case your son. They can take their high horse stance, but in the end it does absolutely nothing because scalpers will go on scalping and people will go on buying from them because they want it badly enough and the price is worth it. The only thing they accomplish is not getting an amiibo. If that makes them happy then great, they shouldn't judge you though.

I just ordered him from Amazon Japan for $17. Couldn't find him and he goes for $30+ on Amazon.com

I'll have to pay an importer fee ($6-$10) on top of that, but it's still cheaper.

Now if someone wants to send me one here in the US for $20 I'll cancel my Amazon.co.jp order, lol.

True, but also they announced that wave 3 would have store exclusives when they actually announced wave 3, though they didn't announced all the retailers in question.
 
My gamestop just called and told me my Ike is available, I'll go pick him up later today. (Along with Meta Knight from BB)

Cant say for sure...I saw 2 at a TRU in Bellevue, WA that I check every Sunday so ti looks like he got a restock there.

I did snatch one up to potentially trade for since I see conflicting reports that he is rare now.
