Amiibo Thread 5 | Because we didn't preorder thread 4

I just called my local GameStop to see if they got the Sonic I preordered in yet. He said to try again later in the week like Wednesday or Thursday. He also said that because of the issues Nintendo is having with distribution if you preordered after 12/25/14 you won't be getting your preorder in this first batch. He said if you preordered after 12/15/14 you might get it in the up and coming months IF they get anymore. So no guarantee. As always take it with a grain of salt. Has anybody else heard similar things? Lastly besides GameStop what other North American stores are left to release wave 3b?
 
Whew what a busy weekend. Finally caught up on the 15 pages I've been behind on. Disappointing that the weekend was so quiet on the Amiibo front. Even staying up late for NO Wave 4 for Amazon US. I had my doubts that it would happen, and even if it did, I'd imagine it would sell out within seconds.

Meta Knight's paint job has that worn look on all released figures.

TehPlumbummer still wants to be on here? Why not just use your friend's account and tell us all your exploits here.

Pretty sure we should know who the Wave 4 Rares are. Please don't kid yourself thinking otherwise...

Every Japanese one I've seen on eBay also has that look. I really do think it's intentional.

My GS called me on Saturday to tell me my DDD would be ready on Monday (today). Doubt it as he seemed kind of flustered but I'll call today to be sure.

Edit: oh and I think all US stores have "released" wave 3 besides GameStop. I'm not sure about Canada but I remember seeing Canada get almost the complete Wave 3 in early-mid Feb

Nintendo probably intends this:

RARE: Robin, Ness
UNCOMMON: Lucina, Pac-Man
COMMON: Wario, Charizard

But essentially all of them but Wario and Charizard will be rare (to the point of being unicorns) thanks to steadily higher demand. People will line up in front of stores hours before opening and buy whatever stock is there, making Robin, Ness, Lucina and Pac-Man sell out across the nation in 15 minutes with nary a restock in sight. Just like Wave 3B.

Wario and Charizard, meanwhile, will receive enough stock to endure consumer onslaught and will be findable on store shelves for at least a couple months, similar to Bowser and Toon Link.

Next wave I honestly just want Ness and only Ness. I may try for a FE character too but just as trade value for Ness. But I'll only do that if I can't get a Ness. So I basically expect Nintendo to make about 7 Ness amiibos for NA.

I thought so. I didn't even release best buy and Walmart released him already. :/ this is going to be an uphill battle to get him.
 
I just think that Lucina is going to be stupid hard to find. Like freaking Unicorn status! Or maybe that will just for all of them. The demand for Amiibos has gone out of control!

The consensus on here is that we all care nothing about Lucina, Robin, and Ness. We all want Wario and Charizard bad. If someone wanted to punish us, they'd buy all of those up. And we'd be so sorry!
 
Ness and Lucina will be rarest, it's not hard to see. Robin a very close third. I'd like to believe Nintendo would produce significantly more of them this time now that they have an idea of the demand... but that's probably a pipedream.

I think they were starting to boil during Wave 2, with the multiple release dates, coupled with the transfiguration of Villager, Fit and Marth into S-tier rares around that time.

Then Rosalina happened, with that dude supposedly hoarding them stoking those fires further.

And I do think it'll get even worse, worldwide.

I was able to pre-order Mega Man and Sonic off amazon.ca with relative ease.

I'm expecting Ness and Robin (and probably Lucina) to be Marth and Villager levels of rare. With our luck, they'll be retailer exclusive, too.

Unless Charizard happens to be another Toys R Us Exclusive and we have the same mess we did with Lucario. Seeing how Toys R Us seems to get a lot of Pokemon related exclusive stuff out of nintendo, it could be a possibility.

It would be hilarious if Wario ends up being a Unicorn.

I wish. Went to three stores yesterday looking for Mega Man. My last stop was Meijer as I saw a couple in their 60's placing a lone Amiibo in their empty cart. When I got up to the Amiibo display, I saw a whole bunch of commons and an empty slot where Mega Man should be. The 60 year old woman went to the electronics desk to ask about future Amiibo shipments, "Just thought I'd ask!". I didn't see for sure which Amiibo they got but I'm almost positive I saw some blue and I didn't even see a Sonic placeholder.

It took everything I had not to take the supposed Mega Man out of their cart and run away like a crazed animal. Had I not stopped at Target and Walmart beforehand, it'd have been mine, GAF.

Hi all, this it the last time I will mention the amiibo LINE group (because it will probably be full).

For those of you that don't understand the point of using LINE, let me explain. The chat room on LINE is just a great place to chat with like-minded collectors. We can go off on tangents in there, get completely silly or even get together to play some Smash. It's simply an extension of AmiiboGAF and kind of brings us closer to being friends than just internet acquaintances. If you aren't in the chat, AmiiboGAF isn't missing any important amiibo news. If anything having our chat cuts the fat off this thread so only the most important in stock alerts and other news are displayed front and center.

Secondly, the in-stock alerts help gaffers that can't be checking the thread every 10 min. I can actually work and feel safe in knowing if Wave 4 goes up somewhere I will get a text like notification right to my phone. All of the alerts we've received have also popped up in this thread so you're not missing anything there either. It's just in a more convenient fashion using LINE. We aren't looking to segregate the thread and LINE, just giving people options on staying up to date with amiibo preorders.

Lastly as much as I'd love for everyone to join us from amiiboGAF, that simply can't happen with the 100 person limit in the chats. People interested have PM'd me and I think everyone is enjoying it and having a good time so far (I'm still shuffling through some, I haven't forgotten about you if PM'd!). That being said there are just a handful of spots left. If you enjoy talking to people here or would just like an easier way of keeping track of amiibo alerts, please PM me or Blue Namagem.

You hit it on the head...these are going to be nasty. Lucina, Robin, and Ness

I got char, pacman and wario on a jpn preorder at a store. But those three above are already hitting 40 buck preorders from scalpers in jpn and of those three I am thinking Ness is going to be the worst. There are no shipping issues in jpn like the strike stuff on the west coast.

This is really starting to suck.
 
None of wave 4 will be rare.

That's why it's taking so long. They upped the print order, they lowered MSRP for ones that weren't selling as well to get shelf space, and they'll have plenty of the characters for everyone!

I had three Ike's at once and noticed what makes him Derpy or not: his eyes. If his eyes are spread too far apart = Derpy. If his eyes are closer to his nose = not Derpy
 
Got my Mega Man in the mail from Best Buy. Now to just wait for my Ike to get here from Amazon UK and all of Wave 3 will be complete!
