New direct feed (but 1280x720) Final Fantasy XV screens from the demo, also Type-0 HD

LOL

- You won't be able to leave the road with the car. You'll need other forms of transportations such as Chocobo's for exploration.

(Again, thanks to GermanFFBlog)

Offroad instance #1 (that's not a road or path of any kind if you watch the whole segment in the trailer)

Offroad instance #2 (driving on a cliff, even if you argue that is some kind of path, you'd very likely have to drive offroad to get to a place like that)

Offroad Instance #3 (stopping by a pond that is clearly nowhere near a road or a set path based on what we see in other gameplay clips)

Offroad Instance #4 (not a road or path of any kind, clearly driving through a grassy, slightly more barren desert-y offroad area, though the terrain does seem to set certain limitations to that particular zone)

Offroad Instance #5 (they are in the middle of somehat long grass area, probably not a road or any preset paths to get there)

So thorough...

- Tabata guesses that there are currently ~400 people working on Final Fantasy XV ( inhouse and extern)

Nice amount, i hope the outside collaborations will help the game get released quicker.

- Some people of the development team like the idea of implementing a battle arena in Final Fantasy XV like in FFVII

Nice, the more content (as long as it has quality) the better.

- They'll talk about minigames after Episode Duscae is out

Can't wait for that teased card game!

- Spoiler of the demo's beginning:
The first scene of Episode Duscae is the 4 guys waking up in a tent

Wasn't it pretty clear from the latest trailer?

- You won't be able to leave the road with the car. You'll need other forms of transportations such as Chocobo's for exploration.

Cool, this will give even more feelings of exploration.

By the way, there are new scans of FF Mevius showing the battle system and stuff (Moogles!). Equipment seems to be visible. All screens are in portrait mode. Battle system seems to involve timing-based mechanics.

- Tabata said that they're aware of the youtube comments after the "FFVII Ps4 reveal" lol

Good...

Also did he specify YouTube? Cause it was a hell of a lot more than just YouTube.

I actually really like that you can't go through the fields with the car. It will give a lot better sense of exploration with Chocobos and on foot

You would like it you freedom hating communist.

Weaksauce developers. So much weaksauce I can't even put it on my cheeseburger because it'd ruin the taste.

Are you talking about E3 2013? Because the visuals there were pretty hit and miss, if you looked closely.

EDIT: Looking back, though, it does seem like some of the indoor environments in Accordo would have been a bit too much for the PS4 to handle.

I mean in the sense that it looks like a lot of things are rougher round the edges here; LOD seems much more aggressive etc. (looking at the trees in the background) compared with earlier showings. Although that stuff is harder to see on compressed videos compared with direct feed screens.

Downgrade confirmed.

How does it feel to not be able to deliver? Does it feel shameful?! Next up, you can't walk. They're taking away everyone's legs.
Are we walking and attacking with our hands now? Because that would be sick.

So the car is on rails, as expected. lol
I do however wonder if it's "on rails" like the movement stuff in Killer 7, or if it controls normally, we just can't go off-road.

I don't mind on-rails driving that much, but I hope Chocobos are easily accessible off-road in that case.

Wish we could stuff a Chocobo in our car for convenience.

If Chocobo breeding is anything like Type-0, I doubt players will ever run out of Chocobos to ride on (I do hope they don't put a time limit on Chocobos like Type-0 though).

I'm happy with cutting many things if they get the game out sooner.

Mini-games? Fishing, cards, some hunts sure. Forget the rest. I don't want to hear about skipping, or some other weird stuff like skiing or other crap. This isn't Austria.

Open world? Reduce it a little. Cut some areas that aren't completely necessary. It's cool. It's fine. No one has to know. What you don't know can't hurt you.

Summons? Keep Bahamut, kill some of the rest. You get one big setpiece, it's more memorable than half a dozen. Less is more. Someone said this in a book somewhere I think.

Cities? Two big ones is fine. Just throw some huts and shops everywhere else and we can pretend they're small towns. It's like mental exercise, and it's good for our brains.

Airship? Too late for that now. It had its chance. Kill it now. No need to think about it.

It's time for someone to make the tough decisions. Crack that whip. Put the fear of Godzilla in their hearts. The game needs to be finished. Everybody tired of this. They're tired. They want to move on. They don't want to play a game about mutants and Apocalypse. It's everyone. They're on the line. They want to move on.

lol somebody stops this man, he's out of control.

I hate the main character's pants

Or are they shorts?

Ports? Shants?

I'm with you, it's the only part of Noctis design that i hate.

Well there's already a Chocobo-related area in the demo, so i hope they'll be widely avaible.

I'd actually be happy about any streamlining of the car driving mechanic, as it would just take to much time and effort if they wanted it to be as sophisticated as other driving games or even GTA. It would pose too many difficulties in regards to AI and collision detection.
An open-world RPG is already ambitious enough, they don't need to be GTA, too.
Just make the car slow down a bit and ignore directional input if you're about to move outside the road, similar to how moving diagonally into a wall and makes you slide along it in most games.

Things would get kind of weird for FF if we could just rip-around off-road and plow through monsters and whatnot.... I can understand that design decision.....

I started to guess that was the case some time ago. The moment I've seen the chocobo...
fine with me btw. This way we'll make use of every type of "mount" plus they'll not have to handle some complex physics for off-road drive and obstacles.

That would actually be kinda funny. But I wouldn't want it actually in the game. The car turns into a sword for Noctis

LOL.

I mean, I guess there are some big fans of FF13 that aren't tied to lightning.

Wouldn't be that much different from the older games.

I can actually agree with all of this to some extent except the summons. I'd love to have a handful of summons to get (but aren't given to you through story), so that finding all the summons can be fun and you can be rewarded with it's usefulness and spectacle.

Yelp, agree with this.

Nostradamus has spoken.

I'm optimistic about Stella being included. For one thing, if they really had "replaced" her with Luna, they probably would have just named Luna Stella to avoid backlash. It just makes no sense to arbitrarily cut a character who has been touted as extremely plot significant since the early days, and as far as I can tell the fear stems from Luna looking like Stella? It's possible they're the same person, sure. It doesn't seem very possible that Stella has been altogether cut.

And magic in Versus days worked more like the stuff in KH (BBS specifically), where now it's an entire new thing. The only thing that's still the same is that magic was never using MP (even during Nomura days), and it's still that today.

My guess is that Magic in this game will be like the Ability gauge in Type-0 (fill it by attacking, and then spend with Magic).

The 2011 Versus XIII gameplay blowout definitely had an MP system. I don't bring this up to correct you, I bring it up because the system worked very clearly as you theorize in your post! The gang attacked, and attacking filled a gauged that earned then MP points. One point for one basic spell. I loved the way that system worked, and I very much hope you are right in your speculation and that it remains intact.

On that topic, magic has been channeled through Noctis' weapons as early as that 2011 demo and as late as XV's re-reveal. It looked like spells were assigned to weapons, as the weapon appeared where Noctis casted his spell and the spell was produced through it. I hope this is still in and the effect was just missing from the tech demo because it looked very interesting.

XV has always come across as an "You'll have everything and the kitchen sink! We Promise!" Kind of game. Versus XIII was utterly stupid with this kind of stuff: 4 unique combat styles (though the exclusion of that one did disappoint me), airships, tanks, other vehicles, open world exploration, Dragon's Dogma type grappling with enemies, and so on. That XV won't deliver on everything previously promised is unsurprising and to be expected on a game that is actually being made.

Man, the way I see you guys talk about this game sometimes, I feel like I somehow missed a big info dump or trailer back in the Versus days. I thought I followed the game pretty closely and that we knew almost nothing about it.
