Halo: The Master Chief Collection is STILL broken after 100 days

I traded in my MCC while I could still get something back from it.

Will pick it up again once things are 100% (used because I won't give them 2 retail purchases for this buggery)

Any word on when ODST will drop? It's the only Halo game I havent played

Things will never be 100%. MCC is a complete mess that 343 will never fix, way too many problems at the core of the game.

That's what I was afraid of.

At least I finally finished Halo 4 with my friend and tried playing H1 and H2. Halo 2 seemed fine but we ran into game breaking bugs in H1

So he shouldn't man up and admit they release a broken game?
I don't blame anyone for being upset about how his statements didn't line up with the reality of the final product, but he doesn't personally owe us an excuse or apology, and he sure as hell doesn't owe us an easy way to harass him. If he wants to stop using his personal twitter to avoid all the backlash, then that's his choice.

$60

If you lie to me and take my $60 dollars there's going to be a problem. :)
I don't blame you for being mad. I am too. I'm just saying I don't blame him for avoiding what's probably the easiest avenue for people to harass him. And remember, harassment from gamers often times includes death threats, threats against your children, etc. Even the more mundane shit is inexcusable, though.

MCC could have been amazing, I have to admit I enjoyed going through all 4 campaigns on one console. Halo 4 could easily pass off as an Xbox One game, it looked really good.

Death threats and other crap gamers throw at devs is indeed going too far, but you have to be responsible when you release marketing material. $60 is quite a bit for some people so you can see where the anger comes from.

Someone that allegedly has early access to the next update sent an email to the Bombcast saying it works much better now. Take it with a grain of salt though.

The key question is what "works much better" actually means, did they fix the issues or just speed up the searches but still riddled with errors?

find out next update!

CU, where are you?

Halo 1.23 Update said:
In recent weeks, we have been conducting extensive internal testing of an upcoming content update for Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Given the scale of the update, which includes changes to the matchmaking experience and party system, we are expanding testing to include select members of the Xbox One Preview program to ensure the official release is the best possible experience for all players.

Q: If I am selected to participate, how will I get access/download the content update? When will it be available?

A: On Friday, January 23 (exact time to be determined) participants selected will be prompted to download the content update automatically when Halo: The Master Chief Collection is started.

Update: The content update is currently undergoing additional testing prior to release to the Preview program, and will be available in the near future. However, we are no longer targeting a weekend release. Please keep an eye on the Preview Dashboard announcements for information and expected availability date.

Halo 1.31 Update said:
As this update contains the biggest changes to the Matchmaking system yet, we’ve identified that additional time and testing is required, and we are currently evaluating both timing and need for a CU beta with the Xbox One Preview program, as well as the final public release date in February. We’ll continue to provide the latest updates here on Waypoint.

Halo 2.9 Update said:
Also, it was determined that the additional time and work devoted to the beta would’ve actually postponed the public availability of the content update. Lastly, there were some added challenges surrounding the CU beta – including an extra series of required updates and rollbacks - that made us take a step back and reexamine the CU beta. Ultimately, this plan will allow us to deliver the smoothest possible experience, and ensure that the next content update becomes available as soon as possible.

Progress on the CU continues, and we’ll work to provide an ETA once the final date is locked. As stated last week, our current focus and priority remains delivering the upcoming improvements to the matchmaking and party systems, but the team is also working on and prioritizing additional items beyond this, and I look forward to discussing these – a lot more – as we get closer to those updates.

Halo 2.18 Update said:
As we announced previously, this content update includes fundamental changes to the aforementioned systems, and making and validating these changes requires substantial time beyond what was required for prior updates. We’re happy with the progress on the next CU, with significant progress being made on big and small issues, and we’re being diligent in gameplay and stress testing to ensure that it is a meaningful update. While we haven’t yet locked an exact release date of this CU, the work is in its final stages of testing and bug squashing is well underway. The next time we communicate regarding the status of the upcoming CU, we will provide a definitive timeframe for its availability

Looks like I'll just not bother with this game. Was really hoping to be able to co-op it, but dang it sounds like a mess. Doesn't help that it's still full price.

Co-op is fine.

No it isn't. Locally the frame rate is shit. Online you have the same party woes as competitive and you still have a shit frame rate sometimes. Also you can fall through the floor and have your progress get deleted and you will miss achievements.

Oh and the sound mix for Halo 3 is abominable so you can barely hear the music.

Cant wait for the Patch to come out and fix jack shit. :D
They've spent, what, a full month at least working on it? It would be weird if it did nothing. I've been a pretty patient person with this debacle so far, but that would pretty much tear it for me, mostly because of the anticipation and waiting for this CU

Yeah, I mean, that whole month they've been working on it is more than they put into the actual release, so there's hope...

Nothing justifies harassment.

I've personally played all the way through all the campaigns (except the second half of Halo CE) in local co-op. The problems were minimal, and amounted to momentary frame drops, micro-stuttering in H2 anniversary mode, and retaining the 360 version LoD levels for Halo 4 split-screen when outside of scoped views.

Have they said the cutoff date of December 21st to get a free copy of ODST was a mistake yet?

They sure as heck need to. To have made the specific justification about a cutoff because the experience "improved," then still have the continuing issues they have SHOULD be laughable.

Have they said the cutoff date of December 21st to get a free copy of ODST was a mistake yet?
No. And given that shifting the date by even a few days would add a huge number of Christmas recipients to the "get free ODST" list, I wouldn't be surprised if they aren't taking the idea seriously.

For all intents and purposes, it's an apology to early adopters, not merely people who put up with months of dysfunctional crap.

I wonder what sort of visual differences on the front end, if any, we'll see with this large update. Whether the matchmaking screen will look different or if it is all behind the scenes fixes.

I watched the latest episode of Modern Family where Phil was so excited to play the MCC. Got me excited too, until I realized I still can't get it to work with my mates.

Tried this tonight for the first time in weeks with a friend today and was shocked that the gane actually worked consistently for over two hours.
We played Halo 4 and it found games really quickly and had no issues with lag. I've had success playing the game in the past by myself but this is the first time that I've successfully played with friends.
Felt good haha.

Can I get a refund for this?

I purchased it day one digitally and have probably played it for about 3hours max.

It's an absolute joke of a game.
