Besides things like a couple of camera quirks and escaping battles easier, I'm personally shocked at how well received the base combat is. People really seem to stress how strategic and good it feels, and that there's still reactionary systems that will please action fans.
That was definitely my biggest concern, and I'm glad for the most part, I was worried for nothing. I wonder, is it possible that this combat system is different from TGS 2014, where everyone freaked out about "holding buttons"? I know you can still hold for a basic combo, but the things like parries, perfect dodging, etc. seem like things that weren't even hinted back then. And I remember how Tabata stressed how combat changed from Nomura's initial vision, but now, it seems pretty in line with what got us hyped all those years ago.
