Respawn confirms they are working on Titanfall sequel, will be multiplatform

Nice honest answer. Good stuff.

Unless they have some other monetization in mind like custometics, map DLC won't be free and even then, I'm doubtful, EA will be thinking one way, both.

I'm curious as to what they'll change up to try and recapture the magic of Modern Warfare that Titanfall didn't seem to capture.

More titans?

More weapons/perks?

Different styles of maps/new outer space levels with altered gravity and such?

If they're looking to Evolve, they better be careful to avoid the lack of content issue that the latter has (not that it was as big of an issue in the 1st Titanfall, though perhaps it was in regards to game modes at first)

I so called that they would announce the sequel pretty fast. First game was so meh and I'm sure it didn't sell as expected, seeing how fast it went on sale and such.

I'm also sure that this just won't be the same Titanfall. I think they'll be making radical changes to the multiplayer gameplay itself and not just add a campaign. And hopefully more content this time around.

Don't let the auto lock pistol get paired with the cloak perk and I'll go back in again. Actually just get rid of the cheater pistol.

One thing Zampella was keen to think about changing was the DLC model for the future, citing Evolve's commitment to keeping the community united via free maps for all as the ideal way forward.

"I think that's a fantastic way to do it," he said. "I think having the maps like that in packs, it does split the community and it makes it harder for matchmaking, it's messy. Yeah. I don't know we won't do it again, I can't say that for sure, but the idea would be to do something different."

This is definitely the best DLC model.

Well we will not see this until the end of 2016 will we ?

Maybe not even the official accouncement at E3 2015.

Sounds like they are just getting started on this thing.

I'm be curious about if they'll be staying with that modified Source engine.

Source 2, maybe? Or were they only using Source because of time and budget constraints?

Hopefully the gameplay of the sequel is engaging enough to keep me interested for more than 20 hours.

This is nothing different than what EA has been saying for months now, FWIW. The "Titanfall 2" thing seems made up too. The quote in the story is "So we're working on a sequel. No official name yet, but we're working on that."

I hope they don't bother with a single player campaign and focus on making a beefier multiplayer game. Titanfall 1 was severely lacking, but that doesn't mean they should waste resources on singleplayer. It is similar to the BF games and how much of a waste the story seems.

Single player campaign and I'll bite.

Add Co-op as well (vs Computer), and all the better!

PS: I'm shocked! Shocked I tell ya! ;)

Yeah, I'm sure it'll be Titanfall 2 but they'll probably append it with a subtitle.

IGN updated the piece just now. More information:

"I guess EA announced a sequel, so I could play coy and pretend I don't know anything about it, or… yeah. So we're working on a sequel. No official name yet, but we're working on that. That's the main focus but we're starting up a second team and doing some smaller stuff too. Small, exploratory, taking it slow! It'll be multiplatform."

I don't get these guys, they got up from under Activision because it seemed oppressive and you would think with all the money they got they would be their own bosses doing shit their way but here they seem hoodwinked by EA announcing their game without their consent.

Either-way, cant wait. And I wish people would stop holding it against them that the first one was exclusive. Just stop and be fucking thrilled it is coming to PS4.

The first had some good ideas. The only time I really enjoyed it was doing the defense stuff, but the gameplay is solid. I just hope there's a singleplayer/campaign this time around. (And no, not the half-asses "campaign" that was included in the first.)

Obviously this announcement isn't surprising to anyone, but I don't care to hear more until we hear about what will be different the next time around.

So you guys won't be copying and pasting the article on Kotaku?

There is no such thing as a console exclusive. If a game is on more than one platform, it's not exclusive. I really hate that term. I don't really hate a lot of things because it's such a strong word, but console exclusive is so stupid. I almost feel console exclusive likely originated from some fanboy trying to win a silly internet debate that doesn't accomplish anything IRL.

Titanfall was never exclusive to Xbox or PC. End of story

Every first sequel is referred to by the press as "______ 2" until the official title is given. Tons of articles were written about "Star Wars 2" before they finally revealed "The Empire Strikes Back."

No surprise, as all this has been heavily hinted at by EA and staff if memory serves correctly.

Hopefully it doesn't release any earlier than summer of next year. Game needs some proper time in the oven with its offerings.
