Respawn confirms they are working on Titanfall sequel, will be multiplatform

They need to had a lot more content in this one for me to buy it. Loved the gameplay in the first one, but geez, there was nothing.

I want like, at least 6 different types of Titans.

This is uh... Two different things. A console exclusive simply means that a game is only on one console (regardless of whether or not it's on PC).

Not sure how it's "stupid". The sales of multiplats show that many people don't play games on PC.

It's 2015 guys. The sequel is coming out to the PS4. What's with the late 2013-early 2014 "build up to Titanfall launch" posts?

It's not that the phrase "console exclusive" is technically inaccurate, it just reeks of PR speak. I even remember some games that were PS3/Wii/PC (just a few, but they existed) or 360/Wii/PC being referred to as "HD console exclusive."

While technically accurate, it's also clearly trying to create a very particular frame in the readers' mind. Saying something like "it's on lots of platforms but not on Sony's platform specifically" doesn't sound as nice to the marketers.

I think both Sony and Microsoft work hard to create a sense in the marketplace that Playstation/Xbox exist in a bubble that is separated from the rest of the industry. In the past, this made sense, but the overall market has evolved rapidly over the last 10 years, and new competitors have exploded in popularity, be they things like Steam or iOS or even Facebook. It is in Sony and Microsoft's interest to continue to pretend like these things don't exist, and phrases like "console exclusive" are an important part of their arsenal in maintaining that perspective.

But just to be clear, I'll repeat that I agree that "console exclusive" (or "HD Console exclusive" or "next gen console exclusive") are technically fine in terms of meaning.

I will laugh my ass off if "multiplatform" means xbone, 360 and PC.

thats when i drop this pic

Forgot it didn't even get to 900p on X1 - that is just plain sad. I look forward to 1080p on the PS4.

You can play it in 1440p on PC if you'd like. 1080p in this day and age is just sad.

Would be their loss. As it stands now it will have to compete with COD, Battlefield/Battlefront, Destiny and The Division on PS4. No shortage of shooters.

GTA, Watch Dogs, Wolfenstein, Evolve, and so forth. The list of competitors for Titanfall is very long.

I don't have a Windows PC - haven't run one for going on four years now. I thought about trying it in a VM on my Mac, but I don't think it will work very well.

Sweet, I found out yesterday the season pass for the map packs was free on Origin from a buddy and I immediately downloaded it. It got me wondering what those Respawn folks were up to, I assumed they were at work on a sequel, but was wondering when we'd hear from them about it. Definitely interested to see what they do on their next go 'round.

I played quite a bit on PC but haven't touched it in a long time. I enjoy it a lot, it's very fun, but it just felt for me around gen 7/8 there just wasn't enough to keep coming back for. With 3 new map packs to check out I'm hoping to have some more fun with it, hopefully when I get on it tonight around prime time there's a decent player base around.

I just tried it at 1440p downsampled for the first time since AMD update, and it looks glorious. As long as the sequel shows up on PC with similar controller support I'm happy camper.

I can definitely see how the term "console exclusive" can come across that way [especially since it's used as a bulletpoint in a similar fashion to "(true) exclusive"]. I don't think it's that big of a deal though due to the reasons I've stated before -- it's still a term that means a lot to many since there's a good amount of people who don't play games on PC.

Yeah, I agree with this.

That's fine. My actual, personal stance is "play it however you want." I just think it's odd when people have resolution wars between Xbox and Playtation because one has 100p more than another, then proceed to ignore the PC version which is considerably higher fidelity than either.

I'm okay with people caring about resolution, in which case both the PS4 and Xbox are sad. I'm also okay with people not caring about resolution (like me), in which case all of them are fine. I'm considerably more suspicious of people who seem to flip the "I care about resolution" switch on and off depending on the situation.

There are 1440p TVs available?

I tried to only list competitive shooters.

Not only that, there are 4k TVs available. If you want to go above 1440p, you can! It's just so sad that some people are still stuck playing the game in 1080p.

Just to be clear: I don't actually believe this. I think it's fine to play the game in 1080p. Then again, I think it's fine to play it in 900p, too.

And as to your list: poor Evolve. Doesn't even make the list.

F2P Esport

F2P Esport
Please dear god make it a true esport with a massive community, true ranked play from the start, and never-ending content support.

Because you can spend the entire game killing them instead of the human controlled players and still win. They don't have to get rid of them but at least include another multiplayer mode without them.

They included a pilot hunter mode already, it wasn't that great.

You would also have to kill a serious amount of grunts to be viable - and if you did I'd be fine with that kind of contribution. It adds variety to the game. It's just how Titan fall works

So people will continue to not care much about this game.. make the "have you seen TitanFall" jokes... or just get it for the PC like the first one....

Am I right guyz!?!?!?!?! :D

These people's posts and/or feelings towards the first Titanfall must have really affected you to the point where you needed to make such a passive aggressive post. Good for you.

I care about resolution because I have a 4K TV, and 720p stuff just doesn't look very good on it. I cannot wait to see the Steam machines that come out, as they may just be what I'm waiting on.

So free maps means more powerful titans and paid DLC?

They're going to have to have paid DLC somewhere.

Anyone that hasn't come to terms with that should just bail out of threads for these types of games now before they Derrick themselves.

Hopefully, it's just for extra cosmetics (Titan voices, outfits, skins, emblems) than new Titan models and weapons.

I guess the silver lining should be that the prices shouldn't be as egregious as 2K's prices for Evolve cosmetic and character DLC. EA seems to have their finger on the business pulse better than that.

I've always felt that same way that if you truly cared about resolution you wouldn't be gaming on a console.

Good stuff, hopefully they;

-Use a better graphics engine.
-Have a good single player campaign.
-Use a top notch netcode.
