Respawn confirms they are working on Titanfall sequel, will be multiplatform

One thing Zampella was keen to think about changing was the DLC model for the future, citing Evolve's commitment to keeping the community united via free maps for all as the ideal way forward.

"I think that's a fantastic way to do it," he said. "I think having the maps like that in packs, it does split the community and it makes it harder for matchmaking, it's messy. Yeah. I don't know we won't do it again, I can't say that for sure, but the idea would be to do something different."
Titanfall died before any DLC even released.

The problem wasn't the DLC splitting the community up. It was the lack of content despite the focus being on the game's multiplayer.

You would think that without the singleplayer even in the picture that the multiplayer would have more content than a game with both multiplayer and singleplayer, but that was not the case here.

Also, how about don't make it a 50GB download on PC because you think we want every single language of the game.

Titanfall should not be a bigger download than Battlefield.

I know my requests for a sequel may be tall orders, but I hope they switch to Source 2 or Unreal 4, and create a large single-player component.

As for single player, I don't mind if it's just a Quake 3-style series of bot challenges, but I want something meaty outside of multiplayer. A full-blown, epic single-player campaign would be best though.

Multi-player was already a blast, I just need something more to pull me into it, and something a bit more relaxed to do when I don't want the intensity of online MP.

Along with the rest of EA titles, I wouldn't be surprised if it's FB3. Wouldn't source 2's development tools be too young to be used properly to take advantage of ps4/Xbox One hardware.

They included a pilot hunter mode already, it wasn't that great.

You would also have to kill a serious amount of grunts to be viable - and if you did I'd be fine with that kind of contribution. It adds variety to the game. It's just how Titan fall works
The grunts were still present in Pilot Hunter and you also didn't get points for killing Titans. I'm just saying they should include a separate mode for people who solely enjoy skill based PvP. I got to Gen 10 in the last game and I still wasn't a fan of the grunts.

Would love to see this at e3. Not to say 15 maps was a small start, but would love if there were even more. They should add microtransactions for the Burn Card packs, that way, it might work well enough to get the DLC maps out for free.

I even love all the DLC maps. Map design in this game is fantastic and I hope it sticks.

I know people will ask for more Titans but...what can you even add? You basically make your own Titan anyway...what would you want from more Titans, if they added them?

I hope they don't flood the game with new weapons either. I really liked and I think it worked to have so few, as they covered pretty much every base without minor differences, which were there from the weapon mods.

Basically, I like this game a lot, more of the same please.

It'd be nice if they were a bit more creative with weapons...and better balanced.

Didn't play TF outside the beta but by all accounts it sounds like it was a great game

Hopefully the larger install base this time around will give TF2 a bigger profile.

Hopefully all the salt will dissolve now. Fucking best multiplayer shooting on the market.

Will be interesting to see if Microsoft gets some sort of exclusive content or features. Might sway which platform I get it on.

Hopefully they make a great SP campaign. Won't buy it if it's just MP again.
I just hope they don't spend too much time on the single player portion. I want great multiplayer. Titanfall was easily my favorite game last year.

I guess nobody remembers Guerrilla started this with KZSF.

The added Pilot Skirmish mode, no grunts, no titans.
It didn't take off.
Was the least popular mode last night when I looked.
No harm bringing it back in the next one though.

My bad, Pilot Skirmish. It's there, try it - feels empty.

Props to him for his honesty. I read that as him honoring the company line about needing to cut a deal to launch, but still not afraid to say he wishes they were on all platforms. I also read that as he wants all maps free but not wanting to give us false hopes (we know EA ain't having that)..

Great news!

I just picked up Titanfall last week, it was on sale for £7.49 and I also just picked up all the DLC for free yesterday. I thought it looked fun before playing it, but fuck me, it is a lot of fun.

What do you mean? Free maps have been around for a very long time, it's not something invented by Guerrilla.

Good point, actually. Frostbite 3 makes way more sense. Going with the source engine, was such a poor choice for Respawn. The engine was already painfully dated by the time dev started. They should have just went with Cryengine or Frostbite from the start.

I Could still see them use Source 2 though. Even if it's early, I could see them being able to work closely with Valve on it, to hopefully allow multi-plat, and transfer their current game systems over.

I think that's the main thing, Titanfall was such a fun game, I would want them to build off that solid base, first and foremost.

On a 1080p TV screen? :)

Haha

There was some thread where we raised the expectations.

1080p is now laughable (with 900p and 720p coming in at 2x-3x laughable)

1440p is acceptable, 1800p (is above average..although not often used QHD+ ), and 4k is the now Standard expectation.

4k TVs and 4k gaming is viable now...step up.

Even if you have a 1080p set, you should be downsampling from 4k for an incredible IQ.

sounds pretty early, but hopefully we'll see something at e3. titanfall is FANTASTIC

That pisses me off. The fact he's crediting Evolve when gamers have been saying that for the past 10 years. Paid DLC splits the community. It's not fucken rocket science Zampella. Obviously he wasn't an avid PC gmer playing the likes of Quake III, UT, Counter Strike etc.

If it just an improvement on the first I won't be trying it. Needs a complete overhaul. No bots and and a campaign. Otherwise I can just play COD and get better value.
So you think they need to make changes or you'll just buy CoD and the changes you suggest are 'make it more like CoD'?

I can't remember the last time a retail game got free DLC maps as standard practice.

Ah right, yeah I can get behind that! I think the last game with free DLC maps I played was Battlefield: Bad Company 2 although IIRC all they really did was re-purpose existing maps. UT99 had the best DLC for me and it was all free but I suppose that was in the days before paid for map packs, expansions were the money spinners then.

Not sure why people are still complaining about bots when there is a 8 v 8 pilot only, no titans mode.

Which absolutely sucks.

Uhhhhhhh but no one is getting split in Evolve. DLC or not you can play with anyone regardless.
