God of War III Remastered Soon on PS4

I don't have a problem with remasters. I really don't. But the PS3 got me used to collections. 2-3 games on a disc, all of them in HD. I bought a lot of those collections because the value was there.

But this gen has all been single-game remasters, which is bullshit. In just a couple years we've gone from whole series getting the treatment to single games.

Love me some remasters, but collect that shit. Don't drip feed them as single releases, it makes me feel like I'm getting taken advantage of.

Would rather devs work on new games. At least, that's where my disdain is coming from.

There's a lot of studios that specialize in porting games, like Bluepoint.

I doubt SSM has very many resources dedicated to this.

Why do people bitch and moan so much about remasters? No one is forcing you to buy them. They only make up a minority of the games on consoles this gen. Y'all act like every game is a remaster (port). A bunch of baby ass people.

Pretty much, it's kind of sad.

Last gen HD collecions were 2-3-4 games, this gen Remastered are a single game in a box...
Only Halo did right.

If releasing a completely broken product is "doing right" then I'd much rather live in a world of wrong tbh.

Seems to me like Metro is the only remaster that's gotten it "right" recently.

1 game remasters for $50?? Jesus. Halo MCC was $60 for 4 games. While the online was broken, there was a shit load of content

It was essentially a GOTY edition releasing on PS4 of a 1 year old game. GOTY editions usually retail at close to full price.

The Halo games are relics in comparison

Their premise is that Remaster take away resources from new projects.

It's actually a flawed premise. AAA development is struggling and remaster are there to help recoup added revenue to pursue new development.

Only GOW3?
Is this going to be 20$ or what?

2015 is the year of remasters for Sony: Tearaway, Gravity Rush and GOW3. Pretty sad first party output.

Seeing how many people bought a PS4 who never owned a PS3, it makes a ton of sense from a financial standpoint for Sony to put small teams on these titles and bring them to their current gen console.

People who have played those games would no doubt rather have Sony invest that money in new projects, but the engine and assets are already there, so it's a minimal amount of work on these ports in most cases.

This stuff is mainly for people that didn't own a PS3 last gen. I wont be tripple dipping on it, but I HIGHLY recommend anyone that has never played it to grab it. No brainer.

LOL, ever heard of this?
latest

This was the whole saga for the price of one game, except Ascension.
And that was a great value. If this is GOw3 for $40, it's not.

Why this gen is all about Remaster of last gen games?
Because of lack of backwards compatibility on current gen systems (aside from the Wii U). Why sell a system that lets you play games you already own when you can remaster them using very little resources and sell them again?

Well, that and people who didn't own a PS3 can jump into the remasters (same with XBox 1 games that have been remastered).

I dont see the appeal. I'm not interested at all. Why 'remaster' GOWIII out of all the games you could remaster?

So much hyperbole in this thread. Why are people ignoring the fact that the vast, vast majority of games that release for these consoles aren't remasters or remakes?

This is great, can't wait to finally play it again. Never finished it on PS3 and didn't have any motivation to go back after I got my PS4.

Hope they do surprise us and include 1 & 2 as well. I wasn't into the series in PS2 (too young) and PS3 (just not interested) times, but I keep hearing positive things about them and now I am eager to try it out myself.

So is GoW3 Remaster gonna include recap movies of the first two games? Cuz it’s weird it’s not a full collection.

Yeah I am so confused...

When SE remastered some of their old FF titles 2-3x times per console/handheld, people go crazy and buy every RM edition under the sun.
But when Sony is trying to remastered TLoU and GoW for people who never played it since they owned a Wii/XB...people want to burn them.

This remastered has no sense. And no, don't say "It's for people which didn't play the original on PS3", because GOW 3 is a final chapter of a trilogy, you won't understand NOTHING of it if you didn't play at least GOW 2. So people interested in GOW3 already played it. It would make sense a remastered trilogy, not GOW3 alone.

I played GOW 1-2 on PS2, jumped ship to XBox 360. Now I have a PS4. So never got to play GOW 3.

You can't be serious...

Besides GoW 1/2 and the PSP version wouldn't really look good on PS4. No amount of "remastering" can help those games look good in Full HD.

In which case, when they run out of the lower-effort remasters, we're really screwed

It's already happening.

Why do you think we're getting less games? We just lost half of the game industry last generation due to chasing the AAA white whale.

Look at the Wipeout team? Look at Evolution being downsized. It's already happening.

Does Sony still own Crash Team Racing? That would be a million times better than remastering one of the absolute worst God of War games.

Halo 4 is only 7 months older than TLOU and Halo 2 was a remake.

The proposition of the Master Chief Collection was a bargain (bugs aside).
