Thanks for these numbers, Yoshi! Makes my initial choice much easier. Violent past/cleaver for me.

If I understood correctly, it sure can. I downloaded the first 5GB and patch and it applied the update. It's now working on the rest of the download. I clearly had a notice that came up that said "applying update".

To be fair (if you're talking about Mendrox, that is) - he was starting of as Violent Past. He was basically missing out on 6 stat points on SKL. If he had chosen the class Professional (they start of with 15 SKL) then the damage output would've looked a lot better.

Basically, he was playing with a STR-character while having a DEX-weapon equipped.

Absolutely. There are only two firearms that actually require you to have SKL over 10 so 10 SKL should be the hard-cap for those who are not interested in playing with anything other than the Kirkhammer + gun-combo.

What would you suggest as a good STR stat for a SKL-focused character?

Military Veteran starts with 14 STR and I'm wondering if that's worth it for someone uninterested in the heavier or quality weapons, or if I should go Professional instead with its 9 STR.
 
I think I'll do a quality build my first play through. Not sure which weapons I'm going to end up liking yet.

Is there any reason I shouldn't use military veteran as my starting class?
 
Sad i'll have to miss out on the review frenzy.

But to be honest, I don't really care about reviews at this point.
Game looks amazing, gaffers/streamers are loving it unanimously, this game is mine either way.

That's the stream. I got there late but I watched him fight the
cleric beast
5-6 time. Each time the damage output was low. But what you're telling me makes sense.

I watched like the first 20 minutes and thought it was awful, turned it off. I never do that. But with all the praise people are giving it, and that Gif, I am going to give it another shot tonight.




Also, I am completely new to the Souls Series. Tomorrow, Bloodborne will be my first foray into this world. I am prepared to die, I am prepared to learn, I am prepared to be patient, and prepared to die 100 more times before I figure out what the hell is going on.


I have followed the Souls series from the outside looking in, but never played them. However, from the minute Bloodborne was leaked, then revealed, I just had to be a part of this world, I just had to explore it. The art direction and character designs just look amazing, and unlike anything I have seen. I am very excited to check this out. And I am very excited to die while doing it.
 
Yeah straight up. I knew that the OT was gonna be impressive.

What I usally do is if I find a dex or skill weapon that I want to use, but I don't have enough STR, I just aim to meet the STR requirement for that weapon until I find a better weapon that requires a higher STR
