The Gatling Gun Guy (Triple OG) can blow me. I beat the dude on the ground easy as can be....this guy though....goin for my 4th try. Will post results soon.

For anyone wondering about other ways of "taking care" of
Gyula, a.k.a. the minigun guy
, I can confirm that
you can sneak up behind him from the Church of the Good Chalice checkpoint and get to where he's at. He'll approach you as a friendly and you can talk with him to get his emblem and his gesture if you tell him you'll spare the beasts. You don't need the armor set that normally makes him not attack you, either. I accidentally engaged the mobs in the church underneath, so I think he's probably going to stay pissed off, but hey, I didn't alctually have to kill him!
Just tried this and he shot me lol. What do you mean sneak up?

holy shit this enemy,
body of a crow, head of a dog/beast.

and the dogs have
crow's heads attached to their body.

what's happening

Yharnam is a really awesome looking area but the different parts of it mostly look exactly the same. And since it's such a large area it kinda wears thin after a while. How does the rest of the game compare? Are the environments more diverse and are there a lot of different looking ones? Or is it only 4 different environments (the four awakening headstones)?

Also, does the game maintain its dark European horror throughout or does it get more fantastical as it goes along? I'm hoping for some Lovecraftian stuff as the game progresses.

And if anyone's up for sating my curiosity further:

There are very few visible NPCs early on... does this change as the game progresses? And are there any NPC shopkeepers or do you always buy from the boring Messenger Baths?

There is a woods area.

There is a dracula like castle.

There is a Salem Witch Village

Etc.

Advice for defeating the
beast
form of
father G
?

Keep dodging and keep a lot of distance. I just kept taking pot shots with the pistol to try to get him in to stagger but I threw Molotovs at him instead of approaching for the riposte. Should only take 2 to finish him, maybe I got a riposte in there but I really played it safe from a distance.

I had a couple pretty bad attempts until I figured out he's just a skill check for spacing, dodging, and parry. All 3 phases are pretty easy if you manage spacing (more space for each phase), only ever use stamina on dodging, and only attack with parry + riposte. Don't waste stamina on normal attacks. 2 min fight. Beast mode is still scary as hell though but I'm pretty sure I got staggers on him by shooting him while he combo swipes (dodge away and take pot shots). Good luck!

This game is a masterpiece. The loading times are killing me though, I'm really considering getting a new hard drive to cut 10 sec off the load time. Also fuck the dogs wtf they wreck me.

If it's Lovecraft you're after, you will be very pleased.

Is this game serious with this forced platforming section in the
healing church
? Really?

I've already died like 8 fucking times now... :|

I give up.

None of the tricks people have told me for
Rom
are working at all. I can't dodge his ranged attacks by either rolling or sprinting (in any direction) and I can't cheese him with a certain weapon as shown in a youtube vid before.

This is fucking horseshit. It's one of my least liked boss battles of all time. There's no skill required - just pure dumb luck and way too much patience. And I have to fight this in order to continue. It's massively soured me on the game,

The vial system is bad, just outright bad, compared to the Estus flask.

round 50 or so with father fucking piece of shit

if you have an axe, you can cheese him by hiding behind some tombstones so he'll try attacking you through them and charge attacking with R2. He'll keep running towards you after getting knocked down. This doesn't work too well when he goes super saiyan though.

I forgot to mention that
Amelia
is one of the most amazing designs in a souls game yet. It looks like some super dark and twisted version of something that would appear in Labyrinth or Dark Crystal.

Back in the cathedral a new door has opened, also if you buy the key from the store it will unlock a new section outside the cathedral on one of the gates. So, two options.

I went through the new cathedral door, took an elevato, climbed to the top of the tower and got to a door that's locked.

What am I supposed to do?

How did you kill the guy on the ground? He's incredibly fast and just wrecking me constantly.

Might want to read this
I don't know where you are, but there are two final optional bosses in the game. The first is Gehrman, the First Hunter, which you fight by refusing him at the end. The second is fought right afterwards if you had collected 3 One Third Umbilical Cord (probably?). The jury is still out on that one to a degree.

Endgame Spoilers:
That's correct, when you get three Umbilical Cords you fight against the Moon Presence directly after the Gehrman fight. This gives you the Infant Great One ending.

Blah, wasted all my vials trying to kill
Iosefka.
I swear I had her down to 0% and kept wailing away and she wouldn't die. :\

So I was making my way through the Cathedral, having a good time - ended up unlocking a few shortcuts, felt like I was coming up on a boss, especially since I was going up these long-ass stairs. Then these two assholes with giant sticks attacked me, so I ran like hell to get away from them....and somehow ended up in a huge forest, where I ended up getting to a lamp. Huh.

I love this game.

Yaaaaaas!!!!!!! Took 10 vials and some luck. I'll take it. And my old echoes were up there from the last fight, legggooooo

Holy, all these Souls players saying they want to quit. Here I am a Souls noob 13 hours in 2 bosses down.

I don't know if I will be able to finish (will try) but DAMN I am having a fun time absorbing myself in this game. World is perfectly dark/creepy for me.

Yep, I pretty much always use it unless the camera fucks up. Abuse side dodge (left/right + O while locked on), its invincibility frames are pretty ridiculous.
Okay, I'll give it a go. Her hits are devastating though, 2 hits and I'm dead. Hell, one hit takes off like %90

What the hell? Some enemies despawned after I beat V
icar
A

. Plus,
the really big enemies look depressed.

Cheese him, Chuck. Cheese the bastard.

Use the tombstones and keep your distance, use a charged R2 with the Axe and you can hit him. When transformed, douse him in oil and spam molotovs. Or practice parrying him with a Pistol.

Yeah... Just normal regular platforms... Not extra thin one's with no room for error... Nope, super regular platforms here. Nothing to be irritated about.

Don't move the stick fast, it's not that hard honestly. Just be careful and line up the camera. It's been worse in other games, believe me.

In the woods:
"Oh, these witch ladies are creepy. A lit up window! Maybe it's a new sidequest!"

*MOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAN*

I noticed that too.
Some of the cane people were gone, and the big guys were all sitting down and seemed to not attack until I attacked them.

Am I doing something wrong? I havent gotten a blood vial in ages, been on 0 forever. All I get are these blood fragments for upgrading.
