Fought a guy next to the Cathedral Ward lamp after back tracking from BSB. He two hit me to death. I was like whatever, I'm right next to the lamp. But no, cut scene and I wake up in a jail cell and I have no clue what to do now. Place is filled with things that kill me fast.

Thank god I was able to kill him.

You use it to buy things and initiate co op? You also get a lot of souls.

Quite frankly I thought the humanity system was stupid, I saw it and decided to not worry about it and just stay undead the whole game since there was no difference in being alive, then in the off chance I needed help I popped the item to become human.

Chaos weapon damage scales with humanity in dark souls, as does item discovery.

I'm trying to find a coop partner before BSB for the last 20 minutes without any luck. I like the way the Souls games let me summon someone better.
I had a hell of a freaking time trying to get anyone for that boss. Wasted ten insight and only managed to get one person who died mid-fight. Not worth it. If I was home we could try. Won't be on until later this evening, Eastern time.

I definitely have some complaints about the summoning system, the passwords never seem to work. Perhaps there's server issues but I hope it gets easier down the line.

Discovery ups the chance of mobs dropping items.

If you press "R3" or "L3" on the stats screen, you can cursor over every stat and it will tell you what it does.

I kinda thought it had something to do with that.

Thanks for answering my dumb question lol

Is the threaded cane underpowered compared to the other 2 weapons? Im a souls veteran and Im having a really hard time against the first boss. Even abusing throw items.

Ok I got the PvP bell and the bell that allows me to be summoned into other peoples games.... and I got the PvE bell that allows me to do Co-op with other people... if I do boss helping then do I get more insight each time?

...and what is the good boss to do as the third boss? It seems like I have more than one choice...

I am now level 27 or 28 and I am mainly upgrading vitality, endurance and skill BTW.

It's kind of amazing how NPCs have new things to say and show up in different spots. In Cathedral Ward,
the old lady has finally snapped completely after getting over her breakdown. She thought she was my mother and gave me sedatives. When I left and came back, only a note remained on her chair. The whore's neighbor was now interested in finding a safe spot since he had overheard our conversation, but he refused to go to Odeon Cathedral and called me a liar. I went to recruit some church lady, and when I came back...the bastard was there. He seems to think that the whore disapproves of the saint

That neighbor you mentioned
will go to the other safe spot if you tell him about it. Seems he just doesn't trust churches.

I beat VA and BSB and HW, and Father G is still the hardest boss by far.

Completely agree VA and BSB in particular were practically pushovers in comparison, didn't even die to BSB.

You just accidently unlocked a great area for farming souls and blood vials. Just don't waste your time on the santa's, you can walk away from them.

Anyone know where I can find a fire blood gem early on? I'm about to fight the third boss but I've explored around a lot.

I thought I killed machine gun Eddie, I even got the echoes for it. However when I climbed back down he was still there running around and I just bailed and went the other way.

Right now the blood starved beast is working me over. I think I need more levels as I fought for 15 minutes and only took half his life.

I'm very under-leveled as I have only made it to or back to a lantern once or twice with any echoes. I dropped 20k right before I was going to head back and I botched the recovery. I'm only at lvl 15 right now and I started at 10
I'm having a hard time with it at level 25. Can't imagine at that level! Yhr post-transformstion is the problem for me. But I have strategy I heard about I'm going to try.

Ooooooooooooooooooooooh. I've been wondering what some of those items I've been unable to use were and why I couldn't use them, just noticed a stat requirement.

Pfft, and people said there wasn't any magic in this game. I should level some arcane.

There are people that would complain that a lot about these games feel like going backwards. I think it's fine. They combined the best two limiting factors about the healing system from the previous games. The only complaint I have is that you can't just get an auto refill from stock by touching a lantern.

I do however prefer the co op and pvp system of the previous games over this one, but I do like how they made a way to have it make sense in universe between each in a way that differentiates them from each other.
Yep, the inability to quickly touch down at lamps seems like a big deterrent for quite a few things here. So many decisions that are interesting and kinda frustrating with this game.

You gain insight by helping someone beat a boss
I find it a little odd after the souls games to have this stash of insight that is permanently safe from being lost. I was kind of waiting for my number to disappear after death or some type of occurance, but it seems it doesn't need to be paid attention to at all.

Gaf is at it's best at times like these. Everyone chatting and exchanging tips and ideas and sharing the excitement of the game. These kind of games only come along once in a while too for me.

I probably try it alone. I have that feeling though that it won't end well.

Multiplayer hasn't worked at all for me today.
This is the first time I'm trying coop. Also I wasn't invaded once in my 20 hours playtime. Weird.

I have mine at +3 and I have I think 17 skill it's very lethal. It does less damage per hit but it does a lot of fast R1 hits and it staggers a lot of enemies quite easily with R1... so it seems like a powerful low skill weapon because you can walk through a lot of the game just spamming R1 without knowing too many combo's and kill basically everything pretty quickly. Although I remember in the beginning feeling weak it is not hard to start upgrading your cane.

It's definitely doable at that level if you've upgraded your weapon at all, but a few extra levels probably wouldn't hurt.

That sucks then. I had no issues getting summoned and invading yesterday, but today I'm getting nothing at all. Really hope they fix these network issues (including getting the damn bloodstain spectres working.)

You know how to unsettle me?

Put enemies making loud shrieking noises in the game. They get me everytime. and the crow. The crows, man...

Terrifying game at times.

After 3 tries on Father G and getting close on the 4th I decided to try summoning help...took one minute, some cool guy came in,took a bow and we killed him in like 1 minute...wasnt use to the emotes though so I couldn't bow back to thank him properly lol,I have to look at how they work for next time.

The difference is that Insight is also a currency. Losing 2 different stacks of currency on death would be pretty shitty.
In Dark Souls you could summon or BE summoned, does it work the same here? I fancy a bit of help with Gascoigne.
Yes

So about that
Red Jewled brooch
. What do I do with the thing?

Use it for a blood gem that you can later equip on any weapon, that side quest seems to only end in tragedy no matter what options people have tried and giving the little girl the brooch doesn't net you in anything except tears from her.

Crows sound like dinosaurs. I hate it when I have to deal with 5 at once since It is so loud on my surround sound.

I started the game earlier today and selected the class with the highest Skill stat. Even with that, when I got to select between the 3 weapons I could see that the threaded cane still gave slightly lower damage than the other 2 weapons without my stats giving much scaling damage to those 2.

But the whip is great for crowd control.

Tip to deal with that boss below:
I recommend staying close to him and making sure to stay back when he starts slamming the ground or dodge as he tries to grab you. Don't attempt to stun or use molotovs. It's a waste tbh.

I got him on the first attempt by just dancing around him and through his legs. The camera angle is bad at times, so remember to always try to have him in your sight. You could try skipping locking on.

So uh yeah, I'm stuck on a ladder with a giant ass pig trying to get to me. What do?

draw it out so that it chases you all the way down the hallway just past the ladder and it usually runs into a wall and gets stuck... then kill it... yeah it has no health and dies quickly.

Personal effects shortcut was such a great idea that I can't believe it wasn't in the series until now. I can pop my heals right on it so that I don't have to keep switching between items, and my summoning items can go right there so that my quick item slots are only for consumables.

It's really the little things with this game.
