Just noticed an other door in the church.
There was an elevator and up there was a dude in a wheelchair with a gatling gun.

Was that pass open all the time?

Edit: died and went back.
Looked like I could drop down where the elevator was.
Fell through the floor..

debating weather I should start new game plus or start a new game with a different build. I kind of want to experience the other endings without it being too much of a hassle, but I also want to experience NG+ and it's differences :/

16 str, 12 skill, 9 bloodtinge, for ludwig's sword and any firearm I want to use. I put my early points into endurance and vitality because you don't get anything that scales with arcane for a bit, so I'm at around 18 vit, 13 endurance, and now I'm working on getting my arcane up. it's only at 25 right now. Gonna keep emphasizing arcane to get my offense up and throw some points at endurance at least until I can run 4xl1 with ludwig's and keep my health where it needs to be. It's not exactly all planned out but that's the general idea.

Thanks :)

Wow, there is a guy where the father Gascoigne fight was and he is 10 times tougher than father g was

That's probably Henryk.
He is part of Eileen's quest, so if you want help follow up on that first.

Yep. Opened up all the gates and thought I explored everything up to the boss.

Edit: and i meant that its a bug that I can't summon even though that gate is open

There are some bugs with the bells apparently it's getting patched sometime in the upcoming week.

Forsaken Castle Cainhurst
That poster couldn't have gotten there without the key item that unlocks it so it's not really possible to "wander around" to find it. There's nothing random about it.

I'm in (late? game spoilers)
Yah'gul chapel
so I feel like I've missed it. :(

Gaf, here is a little guide I put together to help you get informed about Chalice Dungeons. I'm a Junior, so if someone wants to make this a thread of it's own, or put it in the OP. that's fine with me, If it's old or not useful enough that's cool too. Hope it helps!

So, You're Going To Start Chalicing (item name and location spoilers).

Thanks for this. I did the 'intro' chalice dungeon but I want more elemental blood gems so I was thinking of diving into them further.

I hear you can find special versions of weapons in there? I could really use an arcane-scaling Stake Driver...someone told me its explosion move scaled off arcane and I was sad to discover that it does not. I'm using Tonitrus for now though.

Ah, thanks. At least I finally managed to get her down. That was the first boss I was having a lot of trouble with.

Are you one of the folks that cleared BSB without a problem? I sunk 3 hours into it and felt it was almost O&S tier as a result. Love the design (so horrifying), love the fight.

I found it much easier once I started using pungent blood rituals. It took me about 3-4 attempts, to be honest when I get stuck in a souls game, that is the point I start to frustrate myself and underappreciate the game, caring less about atmosphere and settings.

For reference, my posts about VA 10-20 pages ago, haha.

All this talk about bad online atm had to jump in and check it out. 2 Amelia fights in like 10 minutes. Only takes a minute or so to get summoned in.

I've heard this from a friend and just read a post in this thread that got me wondering, is it true that the more insight you are carrying the harder the game is? What about hoarding Madman's Knowledge? I'm not exactly hoarding these things per se, I just don't really feel the need to use them and I don't summon often, not to mention I offer help all the time.

About the echoes glitch I've already noticed that the guy who killed you doesn't always get your echoes, you sometimes have to search around

The framerate in
Unseen Village
is fucking terrible. Coop, in particular, is awful. Just summoned someone and the framerate tanked for no discernable reason. On the other hand, at least I know why I couldn't use that warp.

Assholes...

Welp guys, time to actually catch up with the rest of my life :) I have PLENTY of things to do now, I'll be back when I'm done!

Starting playing today. Thus far really fun. I like the more aggressive approach although I feel that the game is a bit easier than the DS games.

Game is a bit glitchy/buggy. Mobs not dying even though they have no hp, me getting stuck in stuff. And just now I fought the second boss and after he had 1/3 hp left he jumped and disappeared... LOL

The weapons that drop in dugeons have different blood gem set ups. To make a weapon have arcane scaling, you slot in an arcane atk blood gem. this will replace all your physical damage with arcane damage.

More than 15 insight expands enemy moveset. It seems that the higher your insight the more dangerous enemies become. Hoarding Madman's Knowledge is fine. That is a good way to keep your insight low if you want, and still have insight to spend at the insight vendor.

Disclaimer: Not specifically late game, and contains no real spoilers but only a person who has completed or is near completion can answer this probably.

I've been trying to figure out a door that still hasn't opened in my game
and I'm nearly complete. So in the Cathedral ward there's one of those giants with a ball and chain (the only one with a ball and chain I believe) in a circular plateau. Down the stairs there are a ton of urns, and a chest down a passageway. Next to the chest is a door. It has said "closed" the entire game and it's just taunting me. Does it ever open?

Quoting for new page. Yoshi my friend, give me the low down.

Some of these chalice dungeon bosses get pretty hard. Highly recommend you guys check them out. Most of them aren't in the base game, and the ones that are, are
pigs.

Um, what? I died in Cainhurst because I fell off somewhere and lost 28k souls. Didn't really care to get them back, so I went through the Unseen Village and then to the Lecture Hall building and somehow my bloodstain was there. I've never even been to this place before lol.

down. Not sure if I should beat the game or do Chalice dungeon's since I haven't dabbled in that at all, and I'm not sure how NG+ works for this.

Oh, okay. Yeah my stake driver doesn't have a waning gem slot so I can't put my fire gem in there.

Can't teleport to 'Tomb of Odeon', went there by foot but couldn't find any sort of event.
Any ideas? (Progression-wise I'm at the point where
the moon turned red
.)

oh wow, fighting
martyr logarius
was having a little trouble with him, so I'm doing really well, get him to like 10% and he catches me in a combo and is one hit away from killing me when your note was rated fine' popped up and restored me to full health. YES.

He is way to tough.
2 hand axe +4 does almost no damage.
And the other guy is dead anyways.

Was that open all the time?

I beat him with my greatsword.
I got him stuck on some gravestones and spammed my long range poke until he died.
I'm wearing his armor as a trophy of my ability to cheese video games.

Yep, Vicar Amelia is down. Easily the least difficult boss among those I fought.

Ugh why does a beauty like her have to turn herself into a monster? Such a waste!

Hell yeah! Beat Blood Starved Beast on my third attempt. Definitely getting the hang of things.

also if amir0x decides to stream, PLEASE send me a PM!

Was watching ENB's Bloodborne vids (4 and 5) for the last two hours. I learned I missed several items in Old Yharnam:
Rifle Spear
and
Charred Clothes

It was something of an ongoing joke that people would kill themselves in the same place in The Nexus, a hub area in Demon's Souls that's known for being safe. It's tradition.

well it was not a joke but rather had to do with shifting world tendency to black with suicide.

Nice write up Yoshi :). Don't 100% agree with you're boss ranking though!

Here are my impressions after 1 play through. Let's get the negatives out of the way first:

- First things first; this game has serious technical issues. The framerate is frequently a problem, the load times are absolutely awful, and to be a little nitpicky the game could really have used some more antialiasing. The load times were the worst for me though. In the early game when I was dying a lot getting against FG I was seriously worried it would ruin the game for me. I got used to them eventually but it really is something that needs to be addressed.

- I think the game is a little too dark. It lacks some sense of humour that was in dark souls, and there is just no reprieve; even the hunter’s dream is creepy and lifeless, in contrast to fire link or the nexus. In fact the game gets darker as it goes on. Like I don't have a problem with dark, but for a 30+ hour game it could use a little light relief imo. I just found it to be a bit exhausting.

- Not all the bosses are good. I did not like
Rom at all, was super easy and the main boss doesn’t even attack for the first part of the fight. The real threat is the adds which I didn’t like. I really enjoyed the witches but it does rely a bit too much on the gimmick so once you know what to do it becomes trivial, not great for multiple playthroughs. And The One Reborn, I dunno about that one. One of the only bosses I beat in one, figured out the gimmick instantly and the just stayed behind it R1 spamming. Darkbeast Paarl is also one I didn’t find particularly interesting.

- I felt like the game needed some more NPCs, there weren’t that many and they were hard to find or hard to know about their side quests. Just some more characters to for some light relief is what I mean. This is partly due to unifying the shop with the messengers, which is another think I’m not too fond of.

- There’s a couple of areas I didn’t especially like. I didn’t mind
the bell maiden’s in the unseen village
but I just didn’t really like the ascetic of that area (apart from those super fucked up pig designs. I dunno that might just be because I was playing it while tired. I definitely didn’t like the start of
Nightmare of Menis though, with the constant frenzy build up. I never figured out how to stop it in that area and I just ended up dashing through (after many deaths).
These are just small parts of the game though, to be fair.

- Runes seem way underpowered compared to what rings used to be which removes some of depths from builds.

- Estus >>>> grass. I am glad they put a limit on it so you can’t just have 99 heals all the time, but I don’t see much benefit to letting you run out. Farming sucks, straight up.

- My playtime clocked at 38 hours. I feel bad even saying this because of how long games usually are, but for dark souls 2 I think it was 60 for me. Just sayin’. I also think the game could have used a few more good trick weapons and maybe an extra area or 2 to really make it feel as huge as the dark souls games. But really this is such a bullshit complaint so let’s move on :P.

Let’s be clear, aside from the technical issues all the problems I just said pale in comparison to the games strengths.

+ The game breathes new life into the souls series. This is how you do a sequel (I know it’’s not really a sequel but come on!): new universe, new art style and meaningful gameplay changes while still keeping all the stuff you loved from before. The trick weapons, regain system, bloodgem system, lack of shields, changes to how backstabs work; these are fantastic additions to the combat formula. I am also totally ok with them removing equip burden.

+ The trick weapons are insanely cool, and the vastly increased movesets leads to greater depth to the combat. The combat flows brilliantly, it really feels great. It may even be tough going back to dark souls! The hunter fights for example that are interspersed throughout the game felt amazing, I hope pvp is like that.

+ The game looks incredible. The art style is a breath of fresh air, and performance issues aside I think it’s quite technically impressive too. Certainly can tell it’s a next ten only game and not being held back by old consoles which is how I feel about most cross ten games. Also from a fashion souls perspective the game is pretty great, lots of beautiful attire.

+ The atmosphere…I don’t even know what to say. Areas like
old yahram, the host of the nightmare boss fight, the forbidden woods
, bravo From.

+ There are tons of great bosses in this game, and not many bad ones. Few of my favourites were
Farther Gascoigne, Vicar Amelia, Blood Starved Beast (I never got hit by the one shot ;)), Mergo’s Wet Nurse (dat mist phase holy shit!), Martyr Logarius
…just realised I’m listing most of the bosses. Seriously I feel like the percentage of good ones is way higher than previous games. And the final boss (
which apparently isn’t the final boss!
) was fantastic (unlike certain other final bosses I could mention, Nashandra, cough).

+ The return of the interlinked world! It’s so well designed, lots of great “oh wow I’m back here” moments, especially going from the
forest to the start of the game, and from the unseen village to old yharnam
.

+ I love that the game is packed full of surprises and wtf moments.
Being kidnapped (twice!), the source of the dream, the guy that turns into a beast, jumping into the lake
, all really memorable.

+ Finally, I don’t understand the lore yet but I was really intrigued throughout the whole game and it was a great backdrop. I’ve always enjoyed watching videos on youtube of dark souls but this is the first time where I really was getting into it while I was playing. Hopefully it makes sense when you piece everything together properly.

Overall despite some imperfections this game is a masterpiece and an early GOTG contender. The technical issues are a real shame but it speaks volumes that even some pretty serious problems did little to diminish the experience for me. I bought a PS4 for this game and it was worth every penny. If you don't have a PS4, find a way to play this, it's not to be missed.. Hidetaka Miyazaki is a genius.

And to think I’ve barely done any chalice dungeons and no pvp. Hopefully those aspects of the game don’t disappoint but even if they do, at the end of the day the game is still one of the best single player experiences I’ve had in years.
