Flamelurker could be semi-cheesed by using the skeletons in his lair as barriers (similar to graves in an early BB fight).

Yah, I thought of that as soon as I typed it.

Though I consider them to be different. One is an AI exploit and the other is just being skillful.

Yeah I'm already sticking to the side and can dodge most things, my main issue is that she basically kills me almost instantly every time I fuck up (NG+) :/

Crap. NG+ eh. Along way from that. I've only tried her the 1st time. Disregard advice then because i'm sure she's a royal c#nt

I just got to cleric beast on NG+. Died twice and my attacks aren't doing shit so I guess thats an indication of whats to come.....

Sometimes it seems I have trouble triggering the Visceral Attacks, does anyone else? It's the worst with the Cane for some reason but with the Axe it is ironically easier. Same with the other weapons really.

What are the caps for stats like STR/END/VIT/SKL? I ask because I am afraid I am gonna spend my level ups to stat when it will bring little to no discernible effect, since as I understand there is no way to unspend stat points (a stupid decision, IMO, because it locks you up if you want to experiment with stuff.........)

Okay so I didn't fudge it too bad, I didn't even pay attention to those grades until a bit ago. So what exactly happens if I focus on upgrading arcane? Do the weapon stats stack better?

Theres some very interesting items you can use in your quick equipment slots that can be used with Arcane. Found 5 or 6. They consume quicksilver bullets which is fine by me because I stopped using the pistol the moment I got the blades of mercy.

There could be some very interesting arcane based builds when people figure it all out.

So I have beat 4 bosses so far
Cleric Beast, Father G, BSB, and Witch of Hemwick
...Because of the latter boss, I know where
Amelia is
. I have heard that the world changes after that fight, and I was wondering what bosses (if there are any) I can fight before
Amelia
. Can anybody tell me, as well as where to find the areas that they are located in? I'm not recalling any locked off areas/branching paths that I haven't been to yet. Thanks!
Hate to quote myself, but can anybody help?

Picked this up yesterday and had my first foray. About 5 hours sunk in.

Seems excellent. I'm preferring it to Dark Souls at the moment because the milieux is more cohesive. It's like Demon's Souls but focused even more precisely onto gothic/victorian fantasy.

The combat is phenomenal. I thought I would miss shields terribly, but I'm not. Fast enemies: dodge; slow enemies: parry. Works like a charm.

In those 5 hours I beat Cleric Beast (three tries including the unexpected surprise attack) and explored almost all of the first area in the game. Just got a couple of streets left I think and the rat sewer. Must be real close to the Father, now... I'm not looking forward to it!

Going for a VIT/END/STR build, but focusing on END + STR mainly. Chose the Axe and Blunderbuss, seems like an excellent combo.

Level 44 and haven't upgraded my vitality at all yet(lvl 13). How screwed am I? Tried to fight
Paal
, got slaughtered, so I went back to fight
Amelia
and won.

As somebody in this thread (can't remember who, sorry) said, the best philosophy in Souls games is to not get hit. I'd value END and your attack stat over VIT any time – but as the other user said, up to 20 VIT sounds like a good safety net.

Yup. Plus Arcane has a soft cap at 25 I believe so you are still in good shape. right now I have 30 in both skill and strength with 20 in Arcane. Upgraded to +9.

Physical attack -- 190 + 216
+251 for blunt
+216 for thrust

Edit Oh. lol I forgot I had a bunch of blood gem effects:

Physical attack +7.3%
Physical Up at full HP +2.7%

Blunt attack up +8.8%
add Physical attack +4.2

Physical attack up +5.4%
Slow poison effect +1.6

So I finished the game, does anybody understand
the ending with the slug? Am I the slug?

Didn't get that one. One I got was very cool though and made sense. I think the man in the chair asks a question before the final encounter but I forget what. I guess that dictates your ending? or does it go deeper then that depending on what you have done through the game and/or insight level etc

you cah have multiple characters, just try some different set-ups

insect phobia? then its going to get really really really really bad

Not insects, just spiders specifically. I don't have a problem with anything else

Never mind, here are the caps if anyone's interested:

From the fextralife bloodborne wiki:

VITALITY: Soft 30, Hard 50
ENDURANCE: Soft is 40, beyond that there aren't any significant gains.
STRENGTH: Soft 25, Hard 50
SKILL: Soft 25, Hard 50
BLOODTINGE: Soft 25, Hard 50
ARCANE: Soft 25, Hard 50

I chose to refuse the gehrmans offer at the end, I think my insight was around 90 when I finished. Also I've heard consuming the umbilical cords you can find changes the ending so I did that.

I just beat her and the world doesn't change after that.
I think beating her is the only thing you can do after these four bosses. There opens up a new path after the fight.

Haha I didn't find her on my first playthrough and I'm paying the price now :@

I just got to cleric beast on NG+. Died twice and my attacks aren't doing shit so I guess thats an indication of whats to come.....

Tbh the cleric beast and A
melia
seem to be the two bosses that were boosted the most on NG+, they both have an insane amount of health compared to their NG selves. I didn't find the other bosses much tougher though.
Ebrietas
might be a lot tougher but I can't compare since I didn't fight her on NG.

Edit: Rofl, I literally got killed within 2 seconds of getting in range of E
brietas
at the beginning of the fight, she swiped me, putting me on the floor before slamming me with her head before I even had a chance to stand up. Fun times.

I was getting a feeling I was hitting a softcap on most of those seeing as most of my stats aren't seeing big boosts anymore, and more incremental stuff.

I put most of my points into Skill(27), End(25 or so), Str(24), and Arcane(15, which I am going to raise to 18 for a certain item that sounds awesome).

Chalice dungeons are tedious as hell. Having to farm to open up more dungeons. Also bosses become HP sponges in the higher/deeper chalices, and they hit way harder than any main game boss, it's getting ridiculous haha.
I feel like I've fought the M
erciless
W
atchers
a million times by now. Never had problems with them before, but now it's feeling tedious and my heart isn't into it anymore.

If I level up Arcane will my Scythe with an electric gem do more dmg? also why does phantasm shell not do extra dmg when I use it on my weapon? glows blue but I'm not seeing a difference...

It depends on the enemy really since you are doing Arcane damage, which is a really odd stat to be honest when it comes to buffs.

So let me ask you guys a question: it is actually advisable to raise *both* STR and SKL? Because I thought you are supposed to choose either one of them depending on which route you want to take (brute, hard-hitting weapons or "elegant", rapid-fire weapons), so spreading them out would be a bad idea... not the case?

man.... now i want to restart and make a Arcane build :( what to do, what to do im up to Rom.

You might suffer a little more at the start, you should still have enough to put a few points into a skill or strength to get by and keep your damage reasonable. Once you start uncovering some of the toys, you could make something very different though. Some of them have S scaling for arcane too. Highest one I've found needs 40.

I posted a while back but with 15
I can use an item for 6 quicksilver bullets that turns doges and rolls to Nightcrawler style teleports for roughly 10 seconds. Its so awesome

18
I can shoot a freaking tentacle out of my chest. 2 quicksilver bullets

20
I can use a bell which provides healing for you and your co-op buddy. 9 quicksilver bullets

40
Theres what looks like its an AOE nuke. Havent tried as i'm only at 18 but sounds fun. 8 quicksilver bullets

I found a couple of others as well but they're the pick so far

Thank God some of the bosses are optional.

Elevator talk about a boss:

I ran into the Ebrietas elevator glitch. Couldn't get it to come back up and I even landed dead middle on it once and got it to start coming back up. I died, but it started to come back up. I get back and... nope! Still down there and won't work! Patch, plz.

Well I just alternated between the two, for the most part I upgraded Skill the most and whenever I didn't know what else I wanted to upgrade I'd dump a point into STR since at some levels even for a Skill based character STR has bonuses for just about everything sometimes. I pay attention to the stat changes a lot and basically whichever stat gives me the biggest boost I am looking for, I invest in it or if it's important to the type of weaponry or playstyle I want to attempt.

Yeah I used some of them myself, but I had no clue that the weapon would stack stats with them, should have paid more attention. That's the thing with this game isn't it? We probably don't know half of what it offers when it comes to things like that. I enjoyed Dark Souls and Demon souls, but this is the first one that has gotten me this hooked.

Thanks for all the info, and I have it upgraded to +9 as well, been trying to go through all the optional bosses before I move onto the rest of the main game. Gonna focus on Arcane from now till the endgame.

I may not be able to handle this, is it a long section of the game and will I get much warning? If they are in anyway realistic looking I am fucked.

As far as I know, it's thankfully just a brief encounter.

It depends on the enemy really since you are doing Arcane damage, which is a really odd stat to be honest when it comes to buffs.

Right.

Looks cool though when it connects with an enemy!

Uh oh don't say that. I literally spent most of a day (probably 6 or 7 hours) trying to beat the second one you mention, 1st time. Great fight and I figured her out after a while but still took me ages, because 1 fuck up was getting me killed. Was the hardest boss for me 1st time through.

Felt like I achieved something in life when I beat her, and now your saying shes going to be even more of a challenge. -sigh-

This time I'm going daggers though which I'm sure will make it even harder too. I was sort of relying on what range I had with the whip/cane on first run

Can I call for help to beat the
3 bosses in the woods
now or does it still break the game?
3 guys vs 1
seems a bit unfair, it'd be nice to have somebody on my side.
