2015 Is The Year Of Yoshi, unofficially

Did you actually play the game or did you turn it off after listening to the opening credits? All of the in game music sounds good. The level design is solid and gets better as the game goes along, and the manual aiming mode improves the controls immensely and makes it more fun and less frustrating to hunt for secrets and complete levels 100%.

I have the game. I used to think it was probably alright, maybe mediocre but good fun. It wasn't just the opening song it's everything. A lot of level styles rehashed from the original SNES one and done in a much less inspired manner. It lacks any kind of polish. Honestly I should have stopped after I realised this:

Yoshi has no legs. It's supposed to pay homage to how it was in the original but it just ends up looking insanely bad and low effort, it's like they were a bunch of fans who gathered to make a fan game. Arzest/Artoon is a really bad company overall

I have faith in this game. I think it will break the streak of bad-mediocre Yoshi games.
This game has an freaking wolly dog,how it can be bad ?
Serious now, looks like that they hitted all the right boxes in this game, the art style is great,it doesn't look ridiculous easy like the other games, the level design looks pretty neat, the music is good, and the multiplayer,by the trailers, gonna be AWESOME. I didn't played a lot of the Yoshi games, only the SNES one,but it always looked like they fail on most of these aspects, especially the art style one,the 3DS game was pretty ugly.

Was New Island really that bad? I've got some high hopes for Wooly World. I hate that one song they keep playing during the trailers from that game. But I've loved all the other music I've heard from it.

When being held to no standards whatsoever, it's a mediocre platformer.

When being held to the standard of the original Yoshi's Island? It was really that bad.

I've heard that's because of the Super FX chip that the game used. Same reason why the original Star Fox will never be on VC, which is a huge shame :/

I've heard the same thing: That legal issues involving the super FX chip mean we'll likely never see Nintendo emulate games that use it. Any gaffers know for sure?

The Yoshi yarn amiibos look fantastic, and I love the cover to the game, strongly reminds me of old school videogame ads you'd see in magazines where it showed videogame characters made from real-world materials. So it really tickles my nostalgia bone.

But...

Yoshi sucks. I agree with Jeff and Nintendo needs to stop making him the star of games :/

If I buy it, which am not currently planning to (at least at full price), it will be simply due to lack of other new 1st party titles on the Wii U that I want to be playing and because the art style is cool. Everything else I could really do without. Yoshi is terrible as a lead, end of.

Hell make Rosalina a lead. That could be interesting. There are so many characters they could be taking chances on. Pushmo/Crashmo characters in a platformer, how about that? Mallow (from Super Mario RPG), how about a cloudworld-made-of-yarn game. Does anyone sit around and pray for new Yoshi games? No. It's just something Nintendo makes because they seem to really adore him.

I love Yoshi. Fuck Rosalina. Peach wannabe.

Was that shibata? First time hearing him, it sounds so bizarro

Yup. Did hearing him for the first time bring a warm fuzzy feeling to you as well?

Wooly World looks like a proper sequel to Yoshis Island to me. I hope it delivers.

Sorry if this has been asked before; but who's developing it?

Thanks, they seem to have a good hang on platformers. And I should have guessed, since I've got Kirby's Epic Yarn... (it was actually one of the games that made me want a Wii, thanks to it's charming character)

I love how you can see the soft wool threads on edges.

I hope we'll get to use different coloured Yoshi's as the game progresses, similar to Yoshis Island. I'm still upset Nintendo released the GBA version on the eShop. Why would we want inferior audio and visuals when the Wii U already support SNES games? I know it ran on a special chip, but that shouldn't be much of a problem.

From what I've seen I expect Yoshi's Wooly World to be a fun and challenging game. Good-Feel must've been working on it for at least 2 and a half years now.

I'm so hyped for this game. I played the hell out of Yoshi's Story when I was younger, and Wooly World looks like its building off that formula, and adding co-op!!!! Co-op! :D

I'm in day 1 for the game, and ill have to be on high alert for the pink amiibo for my girlfriend. I'll kick myself if I fumble getting her that.

Does anyone sit around and pray for new Yoshi games? No.

I've been praying for a spiritual yoshi's story follow up since the N64. Co-op blew my mind. I always liked yoshi in Mario games, and I really like how they've established the character as both a horse and a hero.

I'm so psyched for Yoshi's Woolly World. I didn't really enjoy Kirby's Epic Yarn, but hot damn was Wario Land: Shake It awesome! I have faith in Good-Feel.

problem with yoshi games is that... every game is just 'more yoshi island'. Even whooly world seems like that.

Yoshi needs a creative spark injection.

They did!

Yoshi's Story had a creative design, with an unorthodox progression system and complex scoring system. I mean it had flaws, but it was definitely a unique game and I'm disappointed they didn't work off it more and try and improve its issue, instead rehashing Yoshi's Island which most people considered perfect already.

Wow. There is a lot of negativity in this thread :/

I love Yoshi, & Feel Good are known for creating some of the most relaxing/charming games around. If Wooly World has half of the whimsy of Kirby's Epic Yarn, then I'll be a happy camper.

Is there a reason to play Yoshi's Island DS after the snes yoshi island? They look the same, and yet people claim its a sequel. I hear Yoshi's New Island is absolute garbage too but I'm going to give it a chance.
