Bloodborne |OT+++| ...and so the Nightly Hunt continues

Haha, sweet. That was my first GAF co-op experience with Bloodborne.

Music Box made her sidestep a few times, maybe interrupted a couple fog sequences.

oh, and it made the baby laugh at the end.

Fun stuff fellas.

What?? Wow, i can't wait to see what people find out in the next couple of month. I bet the kneeling praying stance can trigger something (like make contact) too.

I have pulled my usual Souls routine of playing through completely blind, beating the game then checking the threads and the wikis to find out I missed about half of the game. Now I'm going for the platinum on another character so my question is, other than beating the final boss, are there any events or triggers that occur which will prevent me from getting a trophy for that particular play through?

So far I've downed
Cleric Beast, Father Gascoigne, Blood Starved Beast and Darkbeast Pearl.
I've talked to
Eileen, Alfred and Gilbert
too.

I gave the red brooch/pendant back to
the daughter of father G and i think you have to use it instead to get one trophy.
. Have to do it in NG+. Only Chalice trophy, different endings and this pendant trophy are left for me.

Man just beat the Defiled Chalice bosses. Brutal. Way harder than anything else in the game, even in NG+.

The last one,
Amygdala
, is so easy in the normal game, but in NG++ like difficulty and half HP, geez...
She kept spamming the jump move near the end too, which is OHKO even at full health, scared the shit out of me when she had a sliver left.

I think my remaining non-root chalice dungeons are:
- Pthumeru Ihyll (and whatever's after)
- Sinister Hintertomb
- Sinister Loran
- Isz (all)

What would you guys recommend I go next? I'm high level, about 140, well into NG+. I try to progress a bit through NG+, do some dungeons, and alternate. But the main game is so easy compared to those, I just might power through. Unseen Village? Pffft, piece of cake, didn't die once. The one scary hunters and monstrosities in a box went down so easily and the boss was a joke. Go figure. :D

Yeah, it can be tough, unfortunately the boss after is worse. Key is to be very patient, you won't get more than 1 hit in at a time, you go for anymore and you're likely to get punished for it.

And the charge is the other pain as it is a OHKO, just have to fight him and learn the "wind-up" is for his attacks and know when you attack and when to play it safe, takes time but it can be done. A lot of side strafing helps with the charge attack since even though you might not time your dodge, if you are sufficient distance and are side strafing he will just charge past you and miss.

OMG this helped so much. I kept trying to stay in front whacking at its head, and I'd normally dodge the charge just fine but I would always get clipped at least once and die. Once I tried staying more to the side, the charge never got me. Thanks!

Sitting here almost finishing the game. I think my only real mechanic criticism of an otherwise near flawless game is the blood vial system.

For a game that claims to not require lots of grinding, the blood vial mechanic introduces such a requirement and requires it fairly regularly.

I know the idea was to differentiate from the souls games but I think the game would of been better off just adapting a system similar to estus flasks that refill on death.

I didn't mind at first but after 20+ hours into the game and losing to a boss three times only to realize you now have to go and spend 10-20 minutes grinding blood vials is frustrating.

Ok so I'm going around in circles in N
ightmare
F
rontier
. I came to the poison swamp before and took a different direction up a hill with rock tossing giants. I get to another swamp only to run through it and find myself back at the first swamp I thought I bypassed. What is going on?

You are going insane.... the cosmic horrors have gotten to you....

*dramatic music*

(Sorry, I had to.)

Yessssss.

After hitting a bit of a wall the other night with Vicar Amelia, on the advice of GAF I went off to
Hemwick Charnel Lane
instead; what an area! Love it, love everything about it - the visuals, the enemies, the atmosphere, the gnarled old buildings and gravestones everywhere. Killed the
Witches of Hemwick
first time (they were surprisingly easy), did a bit of levelling up of weapons and character, came back to Vicar Amelia and smashed her into bits at the first attempt.

Win!

Not sure what to do with the
gold pendant
from Amelia though.

Next stop I might go back to Unseen Village and have another crack at Paarl.

I think the key is to just stock up regulary and dont use all your echoes on lvling up. There are some points in the game where you can stock up reaaally fast. Like after you kill B
SB you can go to unseen village and farm the bag guys for shards, use the echoes to buy vials. I had 99 vials, 99 molotovs and a bunch of shards after 30 mins in that place

so do I need to have good stats for Frenzy RES and Beasthood?

I dont even know what these are?

Frenzy RES determines how much damage you take when you get hit with frenzy. Depending on where you are in the game it's nothing you need to worry about right away. Later on there's enemies that can hit you with it and it does a ton of damage. Acts similar to how bleed works in the Souls games.

There's a set you can buy with insight that has good frenzy defense. There's also some runes you'll find with frenzy resistance.

As for beasthood that's a stat that increases your damage when you use beast claws or pop a beast pellet. Keep in mind you'll be taking more damage as well when you go into beastmode.

Is there any way to use the fire/bolt papers you have in stock? I have tons of both (50+) but they don't replace the ones I'm using, even after I die/use a lamp/go back to the hunter's dream. It's pretty annoying.

I almost gave that back to her last night as it happens but I used it instead at the last minute. Looks like I made the right choice. Thanks for the info.

is beasthood worth it?

Im level 62 and have not done anything related to it.

Really? In the late game i just go to areas with lots of echoes from enemies and just buy them for 20.000 - 30.000 echoes. Way from Witch's Abode lamp to Hemwicks Lane crossing gives you a lot of echoes and the hooded axe guys sometimes drop 4 viles (there are 3 or 4 of them this way). At lvl 60 onwards, you don't need every echo for leveling and your weapons should already be pretty much over +7 so echoes are not that important anymore for leveling.

From Software artificially increasing difficulty by dropping frames since Demon Souls
j/k

Funny story is, they did actually do that. Since Dark Souls 2 anyway.
i-frames that is.

If you want to play a Berserker type character that gets stronger the more attacks you do, while also lowering your damage reduction (but it seems to actually increase health regen), it's totally worth it. Bosses die faster to beast mode than anything else. Of course, you can too.

Killed the A
bhorrent
B
east
V2. The hardest thing about the fight is the framerate that gets progressively worse as the boss powers up. Fun fight though.

Can anyone explain to me how Blood Gems work;

I can add 3 gems in total, my question is about the third one that adds fire/bolt or arcane effect.

When I put 2 gems on my weapon I see an increas in Phys attack for example. But when I ad the third one (lets say fire) it decreases in the top stats and it adds an increases the fire damage stat.

What should I use? All three gems or just the first two? I feel like addinng the third gem decreases the power of my weapon.

How smooth is the Co-op in this game? Is it similar to past souls games. I hope the frame rate doesn't drop to shit during a co-op session.

People should listen to this advice for farming vials.

Witche's Abode -> Track back until you have killed the 3 hooded axe guys -> return to lamp with hunters mark -> rinse and repeat.

You will be maxed out on vials with an additional 70-100k echoes in about 10 minutes (yes, that includes the echoes you have to spend for hunter marks).

Matters the weapon and what your str/ski/arc is. A fire/bolt gem will causes your weapon to do arcane damage and will go off your arcane stat and weapon's arcane scaling.

You gotta grab them from the storage box in Hunters Dream. Only vials and bullets refill automatically.

Could be that i read it wrong. The trophy i mean is Blood Gem master. Reading more about it, i now think you don't need the brooch for the trophy. Silly me.

Realy? Im having 31 strenght and 26 skill......I feel it doesnt effect my Ludwig Sword. When I put a third gem on it (fire or bolt) it feels less powerful.

As it should. You have a high str and skill, doubt you have much arcane. Ludwigs scales off both str/skill. If you put a fire gem in, your str and skill are no longer being used, only your arcane stat.

Oh wow I didn't even know it existed. Finished the game three times without noticing the storage box :lol

Haha yeah, it's not very obvious that you can interact with it. It took me too long to realize you need to press R2 when viewing it to switch between storage and your inventory, too.

How much damage im going to get after getting the Empty Phantasm Shell.?

im using the axe+10 and i have 30 in STR and 11 in ARC, should i put those 4 levels on STR or ARC to increase damage?

One benefit Burial Blade and Blades of Mercy have is that since they do split damage by default, most blood gems won't get rid of their physical damage. For a while one of my best gems on Burial Blade added some physical ATK% and a bit of bolt DMG. When I tried to apply that gem to Ludwigs, it would have switched the damage type completely to bolt with a low attack value.

Yay TGIF and I get to play more BB!

Next up, Gascoine. Bring it you slag! My bowdeh is ready.

By the way, I'm level 23. Is that high enough to take down the mopey git?

If you want more damage. Get your strength to 40 and use fire paper or bolt paper instead of that shell.

Ya works differently if the weapon has built in arcane damage.

So NG+4 is insanely difficult, think I'll give up my main character now and just platnium from a fresh character.

When BSB can nearly one shot you, you know your fcked later.
