Loved this movie!
Watched it in 3d and the opening scene gave me goosebumps lol.
I actually think winter soldier is the worst marvel movie so far and gotg and age of ultron the best ones.

Opinions and all, but there's no way anyone can possibly think Iron Man 2 is better than the Winter Soldier. I refuse to believe that.

The first Thor is so underrated. It's a fun movie, and its version of Loki is one of the genre's most interesting takes on a comic book movie villain.

Last question, would those who have watched the novie say that they were leading us on with Ultron's evil deep tone in the trailers? Without any spoilers, does he maintain the evil "tear them apart" and "no strings on me" vibe?

He's mostly a jokey character, but still feels menacing.

Just came back

Well i like it

Rubbish. The action scenes are already on the verge of becoming overlong. Believe me they don't need to add in another 20 minutes of action. You guys are nuts. Reminds me of the people who used to say TDKR should have been split into two parts. The movie is already long as is and even has a good bit of downtime.

^ yes I enjoyed it more than the first.

Is the action as over edited as some are saying here? I didn't expect something as fluent as WS (even that suffered some annoying cuts and shaky cam galore).

Would like this to be cleared up. Regardless, if most of it is ILM CGI, I doubt it will bother me too much.

Here's our spoiler-free review, a B:

[Review] Avengers: Age of Ultron

Just got back.

I thought it was a good deal better than the first Avengers film. Whedon's direction was actually leagues above his previous outing, so well done to him. I also appreciated that while the plot was convoluted at times, that this film - unlike the previous film, took the time to actually develop the individual characters and their relationships with each other in a way that didn't feel perfunctory.

ILM's work was outstanding.

Ultron was a huge letdown of a villain, though. Talk about muddled motivation. Also, any sense of intimidation or threat he starts with is quickly undermined and evaporated as he turns into just another forgettable, light-hearted butt of a joke, saturday-morning cartoon villain.

So colour me surprised. I was expecting a film on par with the middling first one and got something better.

Whedon's script could do with a little more economical use of screentime, but what's there is much better than the first film.

3D was pretty much worthless outside of adding depth in the in-helmet close ups of Tony and his HUD.

TWS > AoU > IM1 >>> >>> etc

I just wish Joss Whedon was more hands-on with the 3D like James Gunn was with GotG's 3D. The IMAX 3D experience for Guardians was quite amazing for a film that was converted to 3D (here's hoping the budget for GotG2 permits for actual filming in 3D).

Still, I'll pass final judgement when I see the film in IMAX come next Thursday.

I have to say that the IMAX 3D was waayyyy better than I expected and I hate all 3D in movies converted or not.

I bought 3D session because it was the only one on the 22nd, and I was regretting that decision until the movie began.

So yeah, hope that helps

Thanks for the heads-up. I'll add my own impressions of both the movie & the IMAX 3D experience next week.

Ultron's nonchalant way of speaking I've seen in clips is bothering me. It's a lot more Tony Stark sass than menacing villain. Is he still a strong threat?

I had been waiting for this movie for a long time, but somehow I had a bad feeling about it and I was right I'm so fucking disappointed ... I think I even prefer Thor 2 to this

I feel like he should have been a much bigger threat. He's definitely sassy.

At one point he can access and absorb all the knowledge from the internet and related networks. It should've made him much more intelligent and dangerous imo.

Well I'm glad that I didn't hype this movie up or something. I'm going to go in with no expectations tomorrow, and I will probably have a great time :)

Oh thank god.

Why do you keep quoting only the positive comments ?

Seriously, there's no point in only taking in consideration what you WANT to hear.

If there's like 10 people saying Ultron is bad, you're gonna be relieved because one person liked him ? SMH...

And I seriously can't believe some people like this one better than Avengers 1 but to each his own.

One person? A lot of people liked Ultron. The negative reception of the movie in this thread far exceeds what we see in reviews at large, and even then, it's been evenly mixed.

I know but I was trying to make a point with some people dismissing opinions they don't wanna hear.

Watched it.

AoU Quicksilver > DoFP Quicksilver (not in terms of power level)

I think I like them both equally

But killing him off at the end of the movie was useless and infuriating

Ultron and Vision somewhat underbaked.
Movie moves at breakneck speed.
Some plot points resolved/swept abruptly or unsatisfactorily, due to lack of movie time.

A lack of " fuck yeah !" moments to me as well ... The movie's climax was so inferior to the first one's it's not even funny.

Well at least
with that move Ultron killed someone. It's his total bodycount if you think about it

One boring ass day at work to go till I see it. I lowered my expectations and expect a fun, action packed movie.

I hoped ultron would be a dark and dangerous villain, but it seems there won't be any stakes whatsoever. Shame.

im still looking forward to it, I hope it will at least be a movie you look forward to rewatching.

Saw this and it's pretty good. Very action packed too, and the action didn't feel cheap as I read ?
There's little room for bullshit, the humor isn't forced but may not click with everybody as usual.

Quicksilver wasn't as impressive as DofP's but they showed more of what he can do so I like him better in this one, it's not "just that scene", he fights plenty and has some cool moves

I liked the action, some CGI was shit but the action is good, just a little worse than the TWS one, wich was fantastic. Anyway after John Wick, Kingsman, Daredevil, Furious 7 it's really hard to shine on that aspect.

Just saw it last night. Great action scenes and good humor (Whedon-humor). I liked that they focused on the "other" Avengers who don't got solo movies like Hawkeye, Black Widow and Hulk. Scarlett Witch is super powerful, she and Quicksilver were a great addition to the team. The birth of The Vision was also done pretty good.
I didn't like
Ultron as a villian. Yes, James spader as his voice is really intimidating, but his whole character didn't feel authentic. He was born and right in the next moment the super evil and intelligent guy, not robotic at all. Even his face was moving when he was speaking but he is made out of metal. Would have preferred no mouth at all.

I think AoU is definitely better than the first one (but I also think the first one was mediocre).
Cap 2 > AoU > Avengers

I hope Avengers does not have poorly thought out shaky cam mediocre as hell action sequences as the bolded. Furious 7 is pretty low bar for blockbuster action movies.

It's a better movie than the first Avengers, especially visually. Only reason I can see why people like the first one more is because that was the first time the whole MCU cast was in one film, so this doesn't feel as fresh as the first one did because of it.

Also, Paul Bettany has great screen presence.

Those shows don't have the privilege of depicting giant robot battles
atop a crumbling floating city
versus an ensemble of powerful superheroes. I think it's a different league from the movies your mention except maybe TWS.
