The thing that puts me off importing is having to deal with quests and items when I have no idea what they say. If they had subs, I would be fine with Japanese voices

Wonder what it looks like when you upscale the game to 1080p. If you have your Wii U set to 1080p and it will upscale games? Don't know how well, but my TV shows a game running 1080p when its 720p natively on WIi U.

game is too large and NOA is too slow

If I understood Japanese I would say I am spoiling it but so far I hardly feel I understand the direction of the game

watching a guy look for pumpkins is hardly a spoiler

I don't know why everyone think Elma is the main MC since Lynn is also really active during dialogs too.

Edit : by the way, the player do have regulary a lot choice to show his reaction during dialogs like in Persona 4.

In the trailers, they don't really focus much on Lyn from what I've seen. It's usually Elma in the forefront.

I think I'll be using Elma most of the time because I consider her the "main character". I am assuming your character will just be in the background for most of the story similar to how White Knight Chronicles did it (which is a bit sad). I honestly wish they had just scrapped the player created character and went with a real protag (I guess Elma qualifies based on how much of the trailers seemed focused around her). I get no satisfaction in making a character because they usually end up being mute and irrelevant to the story. The only series I think did it okay was Mass Effect but mainly because your character still talked a lot and was involved in everything going on. I don't think your character talks in Xenoblade X.

Again, The MC is custom because of Online, that's the only reason.

This thread is the worst thing on the internet. I keep telling myself to stop looking at it and I do for a few hours only to find my way back in here later in the day. It's torture! I wish we could lock, delete and remove all traces of it from the internet forever just so I don't ruin myself. Augh! I love playing games early like this and in Japanese but I just have no way to do it with this one.

Question for those playing (or watching, I guess): there was a lot of concern about your main character being an avatar and it being more of an open world RPG than an open JRPG like Xenoblade. Is there any truth to those concerns?

Also, are there any links to just general spoiler-free impressions? I haven't seen any in this thread but I haven't read every post, mostly because I'm afraid of being spoiled.

I don't remember clearly but I think you need to have the WiiU connected to the TV for the first time set up, after that you can just disconnect it from the TV and keep it on your room.

Reading about streamers getting stuck on fetch quests. That's Xenoblade alright. Spent way too much time running around trying to find the orbs holding the items I needed. Even though the trading system would help, but without a guide I'd be clueless. I can imagine it being difficult being one of the first one to play it without guides available telling you where to find stuff. Though with everything being so much faster in X, it might be more tolerable.

Well yeah, I get that (was fairly obvious), but they should have just made the player created not even part of the story at all and just be relegated to the online parts. I mean, for all I know, the story is focused completely around your character and it's great, but just not getting my hopes up about that.
