That episode was simply amazing, I couldn´t help but enjoy the soul reading "yesyesyesyesyes"

And Vanilla Ice is fucking terrifying, I honestly hope avdol is not dead yet...

Even now, so long after I read the manga I still get all emotional.

Fuck Vanilla Ice and his glorious thighs.

I didn't get emotional while reading that part in the manga.
What really got me was
Caesar
back in part 2, now that was emotional.

Lol at Kenny G being super under-designed and being a scrub.

smh at them killing one of the best characters when they could have just dropped that jobber kakyoin

Before Sho Hayami voiced the roles you may know him for such as Aizen from Bleach or Tohsaka Tokiomi from Fate/Zero, he voiced a little role in the 1998 Jojo's Bizarre Adventure fighting game by Capcom known as Vanilla Ice, and he now has reprised that role for the anime.

i could tell right away. the hype doubled at that moment.

Happy Friday! I created some Smash Bros/Jojo's Bizarre Adventure t-shirt designs, check 'em out.

If you really like one/want to own one, they are available in multiple colors in my shirt store (Ganon is down for a slight edit at the moment, as well as the website host giving me issues; keep checking back!): http://www.designbyhumans.com/shop/CarsonGreenway/

Lemme know what you think!

These are pretty great! Love Kirby especially.

Something neat about both D'Arby fights is the neat sense of duality they have without feeling like carbon copies of each other. Both of them are seemingly invincible, but are defeated in the end when a weakness in their personality causes them to lose to an incredibly obvious trick.

There's also how Joseph is used. You think that his game against a cheater like Daniel is going to be some return to Battle Tendency form for Joseph, but instead he's legitimately outsmarted for one of the few times in a battle of wits. For Telence, Joseph is treated as a Speedwagon, narrating and cheering on, as this entire video game thing seems out of his element. But in the end, he actually manages to beat D'Arby with... a Battle Tendency-style sleight of hand trick, right down to being a "rope" and how implausible it is that the opponent didn't notice it being set up.

Jotaru was teaching him how to play the game at the beginning. He was setting up the cheat the whole time.

This week's episode was amazing man. So good. The conclusion to the 2nd D'Arby fight and then Vanilla Ice's entrance...wow. Shit is about to get real!

So are we spoiler tagging the events of this episode or can we post freely about them? I want to know how many spoiler bars I have to throw into the post I want to make.

Rule should be that once the episode aired, it's ok to post anything without spoilers. Spoilers from the manga however should be saved only for the main jojo thread in community of course.

You expected another easy victory? Think again. Vanilla Ice is fucking OP...how the fuck are they going to survive? judging by their reactions, I don't think they're going to win this )=

Given that we're at the end I do think we probably should have spoiler bars for major stuff for at least a couple of hours or something tho

Man, I knew what was going to happen thanks to the manga, but today's episode still gave me the chills.

Rest in Peace, Fire Chicken Man
.

People coming into the thread on Fridays know what to expect so I don't think there should be any spoiler taggings.

Future events shouldn't be posted at all though.

Is Cool Ice really the name that they're giving Vanilla?
To be fair, one could argue the reference is still kept as Vanilla Ice starred in his own movie called Cool as Ice. So instead of referencing the person, it's referencing the movie to which they starred in.

Also, it was used in All-Star Battle, and Namco made sure all the US/EU names were approved by Araki himself, so I'm guessing Viz/Crunchyroll/whoever is just gonna stick with those names to keep him happy.

Just don't read the thread if you haven't watched the latest episode.
This is what I do.

I now have to question about some of Araki's approval for some characters of later parts if this is the case.

So now that this ep is out I can finally make my complaint waaay back in first half.

What's the point of bringing back a character that was supposed to die from before (but brought back due to fan demand) die again anyway?

First half was hilarious.

Second half was totally fucked!

I don't remember this at all from the OVA.

In the OVA iirc they make a quick headway towards DIO's coffin, instead they found Kenny G and bam dead Avdol.

"Guys it's every man for himself in there. There won't be any help coming from me."

-Immediately dies from helping people

lol, to be fair, if he didn't push them, they might have been dragged into the Stand as well. And it was too late for him to get out of the way.

It was an effective way of showing how serious of a threat Vanilla Ice was. Also Avdol's death was worse in the OVA.

Fantastic episode. End of the D'arby fight was great, and holy shit I didn't expect Vanilla Ice to come out swinging like that. The end of this episode was dire. Damn...

The OVA made some arbitrary changes to the final confrontation, since it skipped parts of the manga story. Even so, the padding was great. This series follows the manga closely. Too closely I'd say
Despite that, watching the old OVA one feels that they tried to add some originality without using the manga as a walking stick
Particularly the fight with
N'Dool
in the OVA surpasses both the manga and the new TV adaptation. One of the best encounters ever. They padded additional action scenes and also added real dog voices to Iggy.

Final confrontation with
Dio
has some major changes and additions and there one feels how ruthless he is

Animation and action sequences had much higher quality than the actual TV series, even though it was made 22 years ago. It is actually this encounter with the last henchman that is in need of good animation, but I fear they're not up to the budget for it. Still they added a nice and haunting atmosphere, like in the manga

I remember when I first heard Shô Hayami (Vanilla Ice's VA) in a dub. Basilisk, where he dubbed the main antagonist Yakushiji Tenzen. So menacing and sophisticated. He could almost work as a replacement for Koyasu as Dio, though he's a bit too dark and more straight evil.

Koyasu has more of a refined, let-me-hold-this-glass-of-fine-wine-while-I-count-you-the-ways-I'll-make-you-suffer kind of voice, which suits Dio better. Anyway, Hayami as Vanilla Ice is awesome.

Yeah that's how I always saw it. He was fucked regardless so he did what little he could do: he saved his friends.

The point is to make the editor happy so that you keep getting paid.

What killed Avdol?

THE ICE AGE!

You've been waiting a long time for this, haven't you?

"Guys it's every man for himself in there. There won't be any help coming from me."

-Immediately dies from helping people

More than once it's been shown that Avdol's too nice a guy, despite him telling people to man up. I feel he's just hoping they'd be more careful if he warns them, but this is Pol we're talking about. The man's hopeless.

lol, to be fair, if he didn't push them, they might have been dragged into the Stand as well. And it was too late for him to get out of the way.

He might have been able to dodge, but then he'd have to fight it alone.
