The Witcher 3: Is your system ready - Nvidia official system requirements

Examples? The only one I know is Warhammer 40k DoW, and that has a command line option to disable the check (and works perfectly without it).

Company of Heroes as well (and I don't think you can disable the check there). Relic just has a boner for page swapping...

So I'm on a laptop for the time being. GTX 850m 4GB, 8GB RAM, i7-4710HQ. It runs Witcher 2 on high settings with a stable 50fps, any chance I can handle Witcher 3? I know mobile cards are pretty meh but I'm hoping I don't have to wait until I do my desktop upgrade.

This may seem like a silly question, but I don't see it mentioned in the article that these recommendations are for 60fps. Are we still basing this on the previous claim of a 980 being able to do Ultra 1080p/60fps?

Think it was mentioned a few times in this thread. Recommendation is 40+fps in the most demanding scenes.

So is there already a exact number known of the fps cost that HairWorks and HBAO+ will cost? Separately and both?

With Ultra settings, HairWorks and HBAO+ I'm going for a capped 30-40 fps on my G-sync 1440p screen. I have 8GB RAM, a 2500K @ 4.4GHz and a factory-overclocked 980. Think that's doable?

wondering if my i7 920 oc to 3.4ghz (can hit 3.6 if need be) 12 gig ram and gtx 770 4gb is going to be enough for somewhat high settings. Or should i just get it on ps4.

That's what i'm aiming for with 2 780Ti.

Not sure if its wishful thinking though.

What kind of performance will I get on my rig if I buy this on PC?

i5 2500k sandy bridge,
Nvidia 770 Ti,
8gb RAM.

Is it possible to run it at a decent setting or should I just buy it on PS4?

That rig is much better than the ps4.

770Ti? I am pretty sure that isnt a card. Do you mean the 750Ti?

The RAM and CPU config is much better than a ps4.

Your 770 is more or less better than a 960 so you should be able to pull off 1080P high settings

I've got PC version preordered and hoping to pull off as close to 1080P @ 60 FPS with High settings as I can get.

2500K OC to 4.5 Ghz
GTX 780 SC (3GB)
16GB DDR3 Ram

The retailer wich I normally do buisness with sell a very good g-sync monitor for 688$ instead of 950$ but it's an open box... what to do. (It's the Acer XB270HU )

There's no reason to get Gysnc right now if it's not that monitor. It's fantastic and makes me regret not waiting a few months for it when I bought mine.

However your retailer isn't offering you as good of a deal as they say they are. It retails for around 800 on sites like Amazon and Newegg, not 950.

Well it was in CAD$ so it's about 800$ US. God our currency is so weak right now :(

Only thing stopping me really is it's a higher resolution then I use right now (1080p) on a single GTX 970 I wonder how it would fare in Witcher 3 and the fact that you are forced to play game in fullscreen and not windowed borderless and it would make me alt-tab to switch screens and some game deal with that terribly.

Hoping to get at least PS4-level quality and framerate with my GTX 660 and i5 2500k 3.3. Too poor to upgrade right now. #struggle

You can play in bordereless windowed mode with Gysnc now, the most recent driver changed it so it affect those games too. Unless you just mean the game itself won't have the mode.

I have a 970 on 1440p with Gsync and so far 1440p works well with most games as long as you can keep it above 40 FPS. But yeah it's kind of a crap shoot.

huh I was sure gsync couldn't work if the game you ran was not in fullscreen, I'm trying to look for a confirmation if it does I'll buy the screen. I spend a lot of time playing FFXIV while watching tv shows on my second screen and surfing, if it's now possible that's awesome.

Not sure how it would work with a second screen but it's enabled by default on the desktop now. I think if you find the general Gsync thread you'll see people talking about it and the Nvidia rep that posts here talked about it a bit. Mainly because it makes using ULMB a bit harder now and there's been some discussion on how to make it easier to access.

So, Andy said the Tweak guide should be going up today or tomorrow right?

Should give us a pretty good idea of how to make this game look as gorgeous as possible.

Also, looks here is the first example I have seen of near final code, HBAO+ On, Off. Or at least SSAO.
As I pointed out here, it seems to be disabled or glitched in many screens and footage....

Also...

I have a feeling some .ini setting tweaking or something will get us here. No chance they changed the rendering that drastically in the last couple months of development.

It's obviously some sort of difference in the SSAO/HBAO+ settings, but what we can't say for sure. But I have a feeling if anything gets fixed in the patch, it will be this.

This looks okay, again, different lighting.

Notice in the middle picture, how much the lightshaft changes the look of the grass?

Looks like HBAO+ to me in that shot, none of the telltale artifacts of their SSAO implementation.

I'm not sure if I should buy this game for my laptop. I'm below the system requirements but I've never had any problems running modern games in high settings.

i5 4210U, GTX 850M, 8 GB.

Price is 29€. Should I give it a try?

Very nice then. I'm running something comparable to your setup too. With a little tweaking it's pretty easy to get a 970 close to the performance rating of a 980 as I'm sure you're aware.

Can't wait to let my PC loose on this game finally!

Could your more trained eyes tell us what seems to be the difference between these recent screens of grass

And these?

I am leaning towards it just being REALLY dependent on weather/ToD/Lighting how good/bad the foliage looks. Based on what the sun does to the grass in this screen.

Given that 780s are pretty close to 970s, I hope I can pull off Uber /w Gameworks at 1440p with my SLI 780s. If the VRAM holds me back, I'll be upgrading in the summer.

The first shot you posted uses their SSAO implementation, not HBAO+ (it has the telltale artifacts).
The differnce between the first set and the second set seems to come down to ToD/weather affecting lighting and that the first two have a different and more varied set of prevalent grass/foliage textures.

Also, I can discern that the 4th shot features a bear.

Wonder how hard HBAO+ will hit performance. I'll pretty much sacrifice any other setting to keep it on.
Luckily, HBAO+ is generally not that expensive considering how good it looks compared to other AO tech.

Been sat here wondering whether to get it on my laptop or Xbox. My laptop is a lot more powerful

i7-4710MQ,
870m 6GB Vram,
16GB DDR3

but if it's not going to look much better than my Xbox due to optimisation then I'll just get it on Xbox so I don't ever need to troubleshoot.
I was hoping for 1080p at a decent fps on my laptop.
Any help would be appreciated!

Don't know if it has been posted yet, but pcgh.de has an article online with some 1440p footage. They used a 290X and the framerate was around 50 with some drops to 40 on ultra settings (no hairworks). This is without the day one patch.

PC Games Hardware has said that VRAM usage tops out at ~2.5GB when using the Ultra preset at 1440p, so you have a bit of headroom.

Thats pretty damned good for Ultra/1440p.

A 290X is just slightly under a GTX 970 correct? Sometimes equal.

By this it looks like if dropped down to 1080p, people with 970's will be able to manage 60fps on Ultra, even without an OC. Hairworks effects on framerate to be determined, but an OC could make up for the difference.

Either way my SLI 970 FTW's are overclocked, and ready to hit that magic 30fps number at 4k.
