PC?

Interesting to see the buildings in the backdrop have changed

What's the "PC" version from?

Finally watched this video. The detail in first segment as the player's gliding through the city is impressive. Even if this was merely "captured" on a PS4 devkit, it's still really great to me.

Everything else looks great except for the combat. The series has always had little trails streaming from Batman while he flies around a room, but here they're even more pronounced and it looks odd. It seems like Batman's been sped up, but it could just be the upped fidelity/more realistic look clashing with the unnatural speed — it's probably better to play than it is to watch. There are more abilities showcased like the mid-combo smoke bomb and the "critical" moves, which is good. The attack hits don't have that thunder sound effect from past games which may contribute to it seeming insubstantial to me. That sound effect lacking in Origins made it evident that it just made the final hits seem more satisfying. Here, the combat seems the least impressive thing being showcased, and I felt the same with the previous "Officer Down" gameplay trailer. The Batmobile gameplay looks comparatively exciting, but that could be because it's something new whereas combat in this series isn't.

I can see why many would prefer Asylum and some of the complaints are pretty much standard open world issues. I don't know if I'd want to play another Arkham game set in a relatively confined area but I do wish they'd didn't evacuate Gotham, that just seems like a way to avoid having to have civilians to worry about while you're being reckless or "GTA" Batman. As for the combat I think four Batman games and a host of other games influenced by Batman's combat system (including WB's own Shadows of Mordor which it and the rival mechanic were admittedly great) using a similar system has kind of left it over used.

Also not sure about the Batmobile stuff either and I do think there's always been an odd disconnect between Batman's insistence on not using guns and the most ridiculous "no kill" rule in comics yet having vehicles equipped with a shitload guns or other lethal weaponry.

Looking forward to seeing how the game runs on my GTX 970, would've be playing it this year (would've waited for the GOTY edition too) if it wasn't for the new video card.

I'm assuming that's ultra, but i dunno about the changed geometry in the backround lol. Like they change the world density for the ultra version or something? That's strange.

Even so, PS4 is no slouch visually, let's hope the FPS can stand

Interestingly, that was just 3 months ago. I can't imagine them redesigning the map so close to release. More than density, they seem like different buildings altogether. Weird indeed. Or perhaps the PC trailer was cut from a much older build.

Neat.

Not sure what's going on with the PS4 vid as it looks like gamma is really high and washed out, and GamerSyde said it is just HQ-ish rather than HQ, whatever that indicates. PC looks much nicer in terms of the contrast and color (not to mention the actual polish in the shadows and hair).

Here's a PS4 with added contrast and saturation only (unaltered shot here):

It looks good but the PS4 version doesn't look "OMG I can't believe that's on the PS4" good, it looks like a natural progression from having a much higher baseline target.

Batman's voice sounds awful. I hope the same voice actor is doing the Riddler in this game. He was the best voice actor in the previous games.

This doesn't seem like a level of detail thing. I mean, they added in the Gotham PD building there....

I think so.

Seems like framing has changed. Lighting looks much better for the scene in the PC version, though it suffers from black crush. The vine does get all its leaves and flowers later in the PS4 version, though it seems a little less dense

Still looks pretty damn good. The faces are some of the best I've seen for an open world game.

Love the design of the new Batmobile. I hope there's other missions where you strap in enemies and drop them off at GCPD.

Damn your saturation fix for the PS4 looks much better than the original, hope Rocksteady will do it as well for the final game.
I'd actually guess that the video itself is just washed out and it wasn't full quality. I'm sure the final game wouldn't be that blasted out on gamma.

They have matched the look of the May 2014 trailer nicely.

Yeah it's most likely the encoding

Nice work. These show some pretty obvious differences that were missing in my comparison due to the closeup cutscenes. Hopefully the PC version still looks like that

whys Batmans voice sound so strange?

EDIT: also why did Batman merc a civilian in a small car with his Batmobile at 5:59s lol

There are no civilians on the street afaik. Probably thugs driving normal cars. Still pretty reckless, but at least not GTA levels of reckless

Hadn't even noticed I was watching the 540p video and it still looked pretty great.

Might be my first Arkham, I somehow missed all previous ones

There's alot of debris and smoke in the air from the Gotham Is Mine trailer that's completely missing in the new PS4 video. It really adds to the atmosphere.

Sounds like GPU Physx to me. It has always added a lot in terms of atmosphere in PC versions of Arkham games.
From Geforce.com :

This is in addition to integrating the latest and greatest versions of our PhysX Destruction, PhysX Clothing and PhysX Turbulence technologies, which work in tandem to create immersive effects that react realistically to external forces. In previous Batman: Arkham games, these technologies created immersive fog and ice effects, realistic destructible scenery, and game-enhancing cloth effects that added to the atmosphere and spectacle. Expect to see similar effects in Arkham Knight

Well you should not be suprised that its on the PS4, that's what the PS4's output is, its to be expected for a AAA game that has a large amount of resources invested into it. Same with Witcher 3 on PS4 FPS aside

Graphics look outstanding but other than the Batmobile the series is looking very samey and tired and I can't get excited for it. Especially as it's open worldy again.
