Batman: Arkham Knight Gameplay Video – Time To Go To War

Batman has a ridiculously strict no kill rule but it doesn't mean he's above breaking every bone in a thug's body.

That and the concussive brain damage.

The thugs can only really go back on the street to make money. You can't get a degree when your brain haemorrhages blood when you sneeze.

And how were those? The GMG knight preorder seems pretty damn tempting. If rocksteady does a good point, I night have to jump on it.

Had no issues with either, except that City had a rather unoptimized DX11 renderer.
Never truly "fixed". But it did run very well on my 570 at the time (with Physx).

Looked much better than either console versions at the time, no doubt AK will be no different but it will take some hardware to achieve that.

Arkham Asylum PC is the definitive version, for right now. Arkham City has issues with DX11 at times, but the DX9 mode is perfect and essentially definitive as well.

Would second this. Asylum was really good on PC and ran great for me. Unfortunately AC had a lot of issues with DX11. If I remember correctly it was relatively new at the time. Hopefully this time things will be a lot better. Even though it wasn't Rocksteady, Arkham Origins DX11 features ran fine... though the actual game had some really bad bugs.

Did they forget to model pants for Poison Ivy

Since Asylum Ivy has been looking for her pants.

I don't know why, but post Arkham City Batman became a huge asshole. There were multiple moments in AC where I went "this is too excessive for batman".

Every day that passes, I grow more and more curious of what the Xbox One version will look like.

I remember them saying months ago that they were aiming for parity but the question is if that's at the expense of the PS4 version or if they somehow managed to hit the 1080p mark on the One without a/much of a performance hit.

Or maybe they ditched that altogether and shot for the best each platform could handle to balance visuals and performance. (Hope for this one)

Arkham-verse Batman is brutal. He was somewhat okay in Asylum, but he was a psycho in City, not to mention a total asshole to Freeze, Talia, Barbara, even Robin.

That part in the previous Arkham Knight gameplay trailer where he breaks the guy's arm after interrogating him was straight up ruthless.

As much as people complain about it, those are my favorite Batman moments.

Many people think that when he turns so vicious that's him losing control of the situation and himself but I think it's the opposite, he's more in control. He goes to the darkest place that isn't murder, he puts his enemies in insane pain, then he stops when they're scared enough to break and he doesn't push himself further.

Batman could snap necks in seconds, it's a testament to his strength and "bad-ass-ness" that he doesn't...

Well, he didn't... then he stuck the guy's head in the live electrical box.

A lot of the time when a dev says that they are aiming for parity or that different versions will look more or less the same I think they often just mean assets/effects.

That tank combat looks stupendously boring.

Also not a fan of Ivy's new design.

Game looks gorgeous as all hell though, especially considering its just the ps4 version.

Cat woman was perhaps the best animated player character of last gen so I'm excited to see her back. Her run and leap from rooftops looked fantastic.

I agree. The only thing I'm worried about is her storyline in AK. It needs to be more substantial than it was in Arkham City and less just her trying to steal money for no given reason.

Breaking that guys arm didnt bother me at all cause ive seen him break thugs bones in comics. But what I thought went to far was him grabbing a thugs bat and hitting them in the face with it. I mean people here were talking about batman killing people in this games but damn baseball bats to the head.

For a man with a strict "no kill" rule, he sure equips his batmobile with some strange items..

Also...Poison Ivy's hips in her pants-less costume warrants a M-for Mature rating on it's own. lol

PSA GAF apparently there are Batman Arkham Knight screens around that are major spoilers. Some says that they are fake but be careful (Always remember Kotaku article headline for Arkham City).

Seems like framing has changed. Lighting looks much better for the scene in the PC version, though it suffers from black crush. The vine does get all its leaves and flowers later in the PS4 version, though it seems a little less dense

Still looks pretty damn good. The faces are some of the best I've seen for an open world game.

I wonder if they set their PS4 visuals RGB and colors on full? I don't recall seeing any of my PS4 games having washed out colors and darkness shading looking grey.

I still shudder when I think about how the press (in general) handled that preview section. Kotaku straight up ruined the ending by throwing in a headline plastered all over their site. Blegh.

Just saw them and I'm throwing up all over my monitor. So lame. Better be fake.

I personally don't care a bit about Batman hurting people in this game. I understand the liberties that have to be taken for the type of game this is.

I've kicked people off buildings in the past games. Happens.

This nonchalance made me laugh so hard

The video is definitely not at a normal black level. I did this since the video encoding flaw seems so obvious:

AFAIK there are no pedestrians. The GCPD evacuated everyone so I presume that's some thugs who nicked a car. I could be incorrect though.

You can side-swipe vehicles with the X button so it has to be enemies.
