Analysts seem to think he still has value as a physical, stay at home defenceman. That means there's at least one GM out there who thinks the same. They're not above putting physicality over skill as proven time and time again.

Emelin is one of those players that fans who watch him every game realize how bad he is, but if you only ever see him a couple times of year you probably think he's a great, stay home D man. I'm sure Bergevin can find a sucker to take him, he's already pulled some great cap moves.

Are you serious? He would have gotten 6 x $6 or more easily, even LeBrun said so. Habs got him for cheaper than market value, Petry would have been the best D man on a very thin UFA market this year.
The Bruins are paying 13mio on only 3 defensemen, so we'll see what happens in the offseason :lol
